It could be an incredibly short professional boxing career - if someone turns him over in December he might not want to comeback again. Unless Ngannou has one of those Oliver McCall shock absorber chins.

Apparently he's not fighting in December and is instead looking for the Fury rematch at some point.
Good luck with that, he'll likely end up having a very long wait...

AJ hasn't got many more fights let in him
Yeah, but you don't like guy, so you'll forgive me for saying that you may be the slightest bit biased. ;-)

That's not true. I've always been a fan of AJ but after his defeat I then classed him as another David Price, and still stand by that.

If I didn't like the guy I wouldn't have travelled from North York's to London to see him fight Washington.

Imo, AJ hasn't got the 'eye of the tiger' anymore. He's very gun shy now and doesn't like a tear up.
which AJ loss has made you change your mind about him ?

Chisora will get exhumed for the execution of himself. Somehow Del Boy keeps getting headline gigs for undercard skills.

fury clearly " cant " retire as he has a contract with the saudi`s who can happily spend millions suing if he messes them around .

Imagine that. Faffing around the last few years of his career gaslighting whilst taking on the likes of Chisora and then going money grab crazy against Ngannou. Then to be hit with the realisation that he's now possibly past it and facing either humiliation in the ring, or humiliation outside the ring whilst losing all the precious money.

I think the Andy Ruiz loss damaged him as a fighter. I think he never recovered from that knock out. I think a bad ko can damage any boxers confidence.

I’ll reserve judgment on the Ngannou hype train for the time being. I’m not sure how much of it was his boxing ability and how much of it was Fury simply not showing up and putting on a terrible performance.

Ngannou was undoubtedly better than anyone expected… but… Fury was absolutely awful. Understandably (in one sense) he didn’t take the fight seriously spending the months before embroiled in the Tommy Fury KSI circus. He seemingly spent more time trying to be funny giving sound bites whilst doing interviews with every tin-pot YouTuber who had a microphone than he did training.

Hopefully if the Usyk fight is re scheduled for Feb he takes the route he has done previously and steps away from social media and locks himself away in a serious training camp…

If Ngannou boxes again it will either show us that he is a world level operator or more likely in my mind he’ll get spanked by a fighter who takes the fight seriously.

I genuinely don’t see him beating a top class HW who takes the fight seriously and comes to win.

He also has a contract with the MMA promotion PFL to fight in 2024 so an attempted boxing title run is incredibly unlikely. As such I think both he and his promoter will want whoever brings the most ££ to the table in what will almost certainly be his last boxing fight before his contractual 3 fights in the PFL (MMA)

AJ would bring huge revenue - Hearn openly said it was of interest.

A defeat to Ngannou would all but end AJ career but I don’t think either AJ or Hearn see that as such a risk to not take the fight

I feel thats true however he has avenged the loss and gone on to fight usyk twice and although didnt win gave it his best shot - more so in the 2nd fight .
he beat franklin who is a hard nut to crack then took his time to ko helenius .

I have no complaints other than he needs more activity and to get the fury fight before retiring .

I've never got why top champion boxers can only manage to fight twice a year max. What's changed in them that they cannot fight 3 or 4 times in a year?

if you have sponsorship and advertising etc bringing in millions then there is probably no real sense of urgency to do the " day job "

Ngannou is fighting Del Boy. Am hearing its a done deal....but there will be another big fight on the bill too.

Del has the ears of the Saudi cash cows and it gives Ngannou a gatekeepers name on his record ready for a June 2024 showdown with one of the biggies.

Chisora breaks down Ngannou and ends up getting himself a fight against another big name, holding up the division once more...

Since PBC came around and Matchroom launched in the US the fees paid to boxers have increased compared to their commercial value. Guys were getting big money for poor fights so are already set for life. No incentive for them to be active if they can command that kind of money.

Teofimo Lopez has fought once this year against Josh Taylor. The show sold 3,000 tickets and delivered 780k viewers on ESPN. He then retired afterwards saying he needed a $100m+ contract and then it was at least $10m a fight.

No surprise he hasn’t fought since.

Fighters need to realise that their primes are short and not fighting doesn’t help them in any way.

I’d imagine very very few boxers make millions from sponsorship. AJ will but how many others? I’d be surprised if many are making £100k let alone £1m+.

Ngannou ain't a boxer, but he is a fighter and that's why he held his own against an underprepared Fury.

That's not to say he couldn't cause a shock against another top boxer.

If you watch Ngannou MMA fights two things are obvious, first that he has natural power.

The second despite his wild and lunging (hello Wilder) in the UFC is that his timing his very very good.

So that's a banana skin for anyone, moreso because it's at heavyweight.

So what I'm getting at is that he will probably lose but he is a live dog. I really hope that they don't give him a lower tier banana skin like Chisora but a big fight.

Now saying that, if he KO Chisora early then fair play.
