The second knockout king's game was excellent in many respects it was 2001 which was the best one I think, their selection of fighters was really good, at heavyweight you had Holmes, Holyfield, Frazier, Ali, Marciano, Tunney, Dempsey, Norton, Shavers, and pretty much everyone you wanted except for Tyson and Foreman (who probably wanted too much money for image rights), which is much better than the 1st fight night, though not played the 2nd yet so not sure.

They also had some nice touches which seem to have been lost, at least in fight night 1.

When you punched yourself out, your fighters arms kept on dropping, and there were periods where you couldn't move or punch at all. Same thing happened when you got stunned. It made it much more serious when you were on low stamina or hurt. Hope this is back in the latest installment.

One thing i do like is the addition of the corner men. Its hard not to panic when you've got a bad cut and a bad swelling, and you've got to tend to both.

I'd kind of prefer it if you didn't have to do it yourself. Is there an option to just allow the cornerman to do it? In real life you don't fix your own cuts.

Call me a stickler....

Yes you can turn the cornerman off from the options.

And you do get gassed if you throw too many shots, I've just won the heavyweight title throwing 1350 shots and KO'd the guy in round 10 and my wrist/hand is mullered. Had him going for about 3 rounds but didnt have the gas to finish him so realistic in that respect.

Also for those after a great text sim of boxing, check out Title Bout Championship Boxing at http://www.ootpdevelopments.com. There is a demo so you can try before you buy.

That's what I am planning on doing. Although you also get a DVD player to boot for your money as well as the capacity to play loads of other games.

Halo 2 is out which is meant to be a cracker.

Quality game. I agree its better as a two player game. Me and my bro had a cracker of a fight, me using Morales and him as barrera, the match finished in a draw. Great fight
One question to everone who has got it though when I have played carrer mode the real boxers as in Hopkins and Lamotta have not been in the rankings. Has this happened for u lot? cheers

Its happens on mine aswell. In my Welter career, Hatton and Cotto are the only real fighters in there. I knocked Hatton out

There's no real boxers in career mode at heavy or light heavy. I think thats a decent addition myself it was crap having retired fighter in there I thought. You can always pit your career fighter against them in a fight by loading your profile in the create fighter section and picking your career guy there. You can also restart a real pro's career which seems interesting although not tried that yet - not sure if you get real fighters in the ratings that way. There aren't that many real fighters in it anyway, not compared to the 2001 version.

Pity you cant have two player career mode too - but then only students would have the time to negotiate it I guess.

Glad none of this was around when I was a UNI - I had all on dragging myself away from Teletext, Gladiators and Fall Guy.

Not to mention XYZ and Crosswits with Tom O'Conner.

The Saturday ritual of Grandstand-Teletext-KnightRider-Watching Jet in Gladiators and then Gigantic Pizza from Iceland, 2litres of Coke and 2litres of vanilla ice-cream before departing for the Fresher and Firkin was hard to shake.....
