His wins over Parker, Povetkin and Chisora x2 were better than anything Wilder or anyone else like that did. His game plan and performance against Fury were atrocious and make it difficult to argue for him but he was definitely worthy of being WBC number one contender for so long when you consider what everyone else was up to.
Parker was unlucky, Pov knocked him clean out and Del went life and death twice.
I never really rated him either, but he I can't ignore the Parker win, stopping Chisora and avenging Povetkin. I quite often picked him to lose and he would invariably win, which means I underrated him.
The Parker win was good but I do think another 10 seconds and he was done.

100% agree, but he still beat him. We could say the same about a lot of fights TBF.

Wasn't there a massive headbutt in that fight that didn't do Parker any favours?

whyte looked pretty average frankly - could only work for about half of each round which isnt gonna be enuff and his punches when landing full on didnt put the guy over .
I am sure he can improve a little but ... maybe its time to fight okolie ......

Whyte has never been much cop, just a big lump.

Fair play to him, seems to have earned well enough, but never really looked anything special.

Are you kidding?
Tetteh gassed so early and Whyte should have done a lot better. Sorry but I have zero interest in either guy fighting again.

Main event was pretty fun if one sided, Tetteh threw enough and landed now and again but Whyte made him miss a lot, Whyte looks near done, got off the better still and 5/6 he was cranking up the heat bouncing big shots off Tetteh

Hearns had a lot to do with that, Martin, Breazedale, Takram, Molina, getting Klit out of retirement

whyte had a very good career after the aj fight. was pretty muuch consensus top 5 world rated or close to it at the height of his career, beat some recognizable names, somehow became a ppv fighter. far exceeds what mos accomplish in the sport. calling him out as not up to much back then isnt really a victory to gloat about

and parker, povetkin, whyte, pulev, ruiz......hell you even go down his record to otter wallin and you still have a guy who tore fury's face off

joshua has more depth of ranked fighters than pretty much any other top 15 hw of his generation. after 2 years he won his first title defense vs a guy wilder didnt fight until 10 years in (and remains one of wilder's top wins). he was moved ambitously and mostly delivered. excellent career: 3 belt unified champ and mega millions. olympic gold and worlds silver nice to have too

but yes, big ha ha at AJ and Whyte, world ranked heavies for years who earned millions upon millions. they couldnt fool us.

the show's production did not look great, I had thought Carty was signed with Matchroom. I think Whyte has one cashout fight but is largely done - probably a Chisora fight

Carty is just with Whyte I think. He fought on some Matchroom shows whilst Whyte was still in favour with Eddie.

And he boxed in Dublin on Cameron v Taylor because it suited Matchroom.

ah, gotcha cheers Maverick. Carty looked to be in a lot worse condition this time round, he looked very solid physically when he was on MR shows. Not sure if there is anything in that but noticed it.
