It is a shocker. He got up @ 9 I wonder if the ref will use that as an excuse but it should not have been stopped when it was. Fckin dreadful.jameswilson wrote: ↑11 Jan 2025, 17:47Round 2.
Woodhall knocked down, went down with his head going like one of those nodding dogs. Got up seemed to have his wits about him. Got hit by one more shot and ref jumps in with him clearly trying to fight back. Just shown the replay and it is bad, no evidence he was hurt worse than when he got knocked down at all.

Pathetic stoppage. Another to the long list of fights ruined by British refs.
The bloke grew in in Birmingham with a first name "Steed'. To survive that childhood you gotta be harder than a ginger raised in Siciliy. Let him fight

Poor stoppage. Not Simpson's fault, but another decision/incident goes for the home fighter.
We seem to have a real problem with officiating here, this never seems to happen much to the house fighter in this country.

Credit to the BBBoC for their consistency.
They are to quality decisions what the Saudis are to human rights.
Callum would have won that but that was a braindead decision. They might as well have stopped it on the ring walk due to Callum being a lot better.

I think I speak for everyone when I say I wish there was some way that the BBBoC could somehow branch out and run every aspect of British society.keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑11 Jan 2025, 17:44 That was a classic BBBofC stoppage. Well done to Robert Smith and the whole team, you are a credit to not just boxing, but an inspiration to us all.

Shout out to the ref showing that visual impairment and idiocy should never stop you pursuing your career ambitions.
And on cue H.C. Nelson wheeled out to talk utter drivel. If only he'd jacked it in after his first 3 losses we'd not have had to been subject to Nelly the Elephant talking crap in 2025.

Terrible.
I mean, Woodall was almost certainly gonna lose, probably by stoppage, but that was terrible. He's got a good KO record and he was throwing back. Even landed a decent blow. You just never know...
Rubbish for CalSimps too - cheated of a highlight real.

Re: Callum Simpson vs. Steed Woodall | Sky Sports - 11 January 2025
it makes me scratch my head (and just due to the nits) - is this poor refereeing or them looking to stop it as soon as they can for the home fighter?
Re: Callum Simpson vs. Steed Woodall | Sky Sports - 11 January 2025
Ben doesn't really have any headliners left, it's imperative that they are looked after

They didn't really need to fix it did they ?SeanBrennan wrote: ↑11 Jan 2025, 18:01it makes me scratch my head (and just due to the nits) - is this poor refereeing or them looking to stop it as soon as they can for the home fighter?
Cal was clear favourite and winning handily. Pretty sure it was incompetent rather than bent.

Middle class Benji is the last person we will see with a Sky boxing contract, they will withdraw from the sport as final end stage of Operation Saudi-Dazn takeover of the sport. A regime that stones gays to death united with an Russian oligarch who made his money raping the post-Soviet state via privatisation. With their UK-apparatchik's a duo consisting of a man lancing an average Aussie fighter holding hands with One Lung Wendy.
My only regret is that Barry never pulled out and Marsh had a better aim.

Absolute trash stoppage that, first UK card of the year and they're back at it, shame as Simpson might have got a legit KO but then he might have not, Woodall was obviously hurt just before for the knockdown, Simpson nailed him with a right uppercut then a right dropped Woodall but Woodall seemed ok , Simpson lands 1 clean shot and the refs right in there to stop it, forget the fact it's a British and Commonwealth title fight it would be a horrendous stoppage if it was a 4 rounder, sack that ref off before he ruins any more fights, I feel for Woodall

It really was shit as well.
Re: Callum Simpson vs. Steed Woodall | Sky Sports - 11 January 2025
Thought Simpson looked pretty good. Premature stoppage but I’ve no doubt about how that fight was going. Woodall didn’t seem to learn from the Rolls defeat about how to react when hurt. Defence was poor & no taking a knee or anything sensible. The hands seen to come down & he eat shots flush.
What do you think they should do with Simpson now? I think he needs pushing fast. He’s 28 & missed two years through Covid & he’s huge at the weight meaning he’s playing catch up. They need to have him out at least 3 times a year for the next 3 or 4 years.
Big fight at Oakwell in May & then Shalom needs to have him headlining Leeds or Sheffield arena later in the year.

Some proper funded oversight of both the governance and PED testing in the sport. Even government funding when you consider some of the crap posh sports that are funded to the hilt.mickey1975 wrote: ↑11 Jan 2025, 18:28What would you like to happen with the sport?SeanBrennan wrote: ↑11 Jan 2025, 18:16Middle class Benji is the last person we will see with a Sky boxing contract, they will withdraw from the sport as final end stage of Operation Saudi-Dazn takeover of the sport. And embedded care for boxers during and after their careers, particularly after care for when they exit the sport so it doesn’t require people like Ringside Charitable Trust having to break their backs to pick up the pieces for people the sport has ruined.

The two Scottish lads looked very handy last night I'm interested to see how their careers develop.
Re: Callum Simpson vs. Steed Woodall | Sky Sports - 11 January 2025
pretty shite fight frankly .
woodall was going to get sparked anyway as he was not anywhere near simpsons level .
I was a bit shocked the ref jumped in when he did ..... but then last week I expected the aussie ref to jump in and save nyika but he didnt and we saw a brutal KO resulting in the guy needing oxygen.
