When Klimas heard the report, he blasted attempts to be first with news.

“If you know the rules, and everyone knows the rules, promoters will announce their fights first and after media will do their job, not the other way around.

“Did you see other announcements from promoters or teams? Except non-respected media people who are trying to bring their hats ahead of everyone,” said Klimas.

Aww so it's officially official then.
I'll watch it, but to me it's a bit sad that a once in a generation heavyweight spends one of his last two fights on a guy he convincingly beat. Even worse if there is a rematch.
Those last two fights would have been much better from a legacy point of view fighting Parker and Kayabel. Then he would have cleaned out the division at heavyweight as well as cruiser.
Now that is a true legacy.
But okay, it's Dubois

Yep. The problem is that I don't think any of us see Dubois having a long and dominant reign once Usyk retires so the wins won't age particularly well on his record. Definite waste of time

Usyk-Dubois rematch July 19 at Wembley for undisputed title

Unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk is set to face IBF champion Daniel Dubois on July 19 at Wembley Stadium in London, England.

Ring Magazine reported that the event -- originally scheduled for July 12 -- was moved to a week later to avoid the recently announced Ring Magazine 3 fight card headlined by Shakur Stevenson's title defense against William Zepeda.

Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) is looking to become the undisputed heavyweight champion for a second time in a return bout with Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs), who won the IBF title that Usyk vacated when he defeated Filip Hrgovic last June and successfully defended it by stopping Anthony Joshua in September.

The fight is a rematch of their 2023 meeting, which Usyk won by a ninth-round TKO. The result wasn't without controversy, as a body punch that put Usyk down in the fifth round was ruled a low blow. Usyk would recover and finish Dubois later in the fight.

Dubois, 27, has pursued a rematch with Usyk since the loss and will get it when the stakes are the highest.

Usyk, 38, is coming off consecutive unanimous decision wins over Tyson Fury in 2024. He became the undisputed champion after their first meeting but was forced to relinquish the IBF title to secure the high-profile rematch later that year.

Egis Klimas is again denying anything is confirmed.

“You know nothing about boxing, but you’re good at spreading rumors. Breaking news,” Klimas laughed.

Klimas had previously branded the reporter ‘non-respected’ in another damning verdict on the Usyk vs Dubois news on April 15.

“If you know the rules, and everyone knows the rules, promoters will announce their fights first, and after the media will do their job, not the other way around.

“Did you see other announcements from promoters or teams? Except non-respected media people who are trying to bring their hats ahead of everyone,” stated Klimas.

He's obviously talking about Mike C.

None of these promoters like these reporters announcing anything first.

He's talking about rules?
unwritten rules?

OLEKSANDR USYK-DANIEL DUBOIS UNDISPUTED HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE FIGHT CONFIRMED - FULL DETAILS

Ring Magazine champion Oleksandr Usyk will face Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium on July 19 in the first ever world heavyweight undisputed clash on British soil.

After months of negotiations, the two world champions will combine to put all four belts on the line in a winner-takes-all showdown at the national stadium.

As initially reported by The Ring’s Mike Coppinger earlier this month, the pair had looked set to meet on July 12 before it was pushed back a week to July 19 and now that date has been officially confirmed by Queensberry Promotions and Ready To Fight.

The fight, which will top a huge Riyadh Season sponsored event, is a rerun of the pair’s controversial 2023 clash when Usyk eventually stopped Dubois in the ninth round at the Stadion Wroclaw in Poland.

But Team Dubois were incensed after Usyk had been dropped heavily in the fifth round by a shot which was adjudged by referee Luis Pabon to have been low.

Usyk was given time to recover and stormed back to finish off Dubois four rounds later but the Londoner’s promoter allegedly lobbied the WBA to overturn the result and order an immediate rematch.

They were unsuccessful in that appeal but now, nearly two years on, IBF heavyweight champion Dubois will get his chance at revenge over Ring champion Usyk, who also holds the WBO, WBA and WBC belts.

The Ukrainian became the first ‘four-belt’ heavyweight champion in history when he beat Tyson Fury in Riyadh on May 18 last year but he relinquished his IBF belt when he opted to face the Englishman in an immediate rematch rather than face a mandatory challenger.

Now the 38-year-old southpaw, 23-0 (14), can win back the belt he never lost if he can beat 22-2 (21) puncher Dubois at Wembley.

“I’m grateful to God for the opportunity to once again fight for the undisputed championship,” Usyk said. “Thank you, Daniel, for taking care of my IBF belt — now I want it back.”

Since his defeat against Usyk, Dubois has been in searing form, stopping top contenders Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic and Anthony Joshua over the course of a red-hot nine-month period.

He said: “This is the fight I wanted and demanded and now I get my chance for revenge against Oleksandr Usyk.”

“I should have won the first fight and was denied by the judgement of the referee, so I will make no mistake this time around in front of my people at the national stadium in my home city. I am a superior and more dangerous fighter now and Usyk will find this out for himself on July 19.

“I would like to thank my promoter Frank for making this happen for me and I intend to repay him by becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.”

This one’s a Riyadh Season card and not Ring Magazine.

Needed GEA funds for this one

Do you reckon Wembleys a bit ambitious for this one?

We care, but the masses don't

This one needs a big undercard

They are not selling 90,000 at Wembley if anything they should’ve tried getting this at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium which holds 60,000.

Dubois Isn’t Joshua or Fury yeah he might have Britain behind him and especially after meeting Joshua last year

Some are warranted - but your right, this one isn't.

The reasons they are giving aren't holding water.

Unification - done and dusted.
Plus one of the belts Uysk holds is going to be taken off him either just after, or weeks after this fight anyway.

The low blow- it was low, Uysk took his time to recover because he could.

It was close- it was not close and Dubois lost every round and was stopped, something Uysk doesn't manage that often at HW.

There just isn't a valid reason why these guys should fight again. It's an easy night for Uysk, Dubois hasn't improved enough to make any real difference in outcome.
I think Uysk has sidestepped Parker and Kayabel to secure this easier path to money.

Joseph Parker confirmed as next for WBO title after Usyk-Dubois II

Joseph Parker has been the mandatory challenger for the WBO heavyweight title for more than a year. That remains the case, the sanctioning body confirmed on Sunday.

Parker will have to wait a bit longer for his shot at the WBO belt, however, now that the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois has been announced for July 19.

Usyk was the undisputed champion before dropping his IBF belt last year – he was obliged to face Tyson Fury in a rematch – rather than defend against Dubois, his IBF mandatory challenger at the time.

Usyk remains the lineal champion and has the WBC, WBC and WBO titles while Dubois now owns the IBF belt.

“Having carefully considered the arguments presented by all relevant parties regarding the WBO mandatory, it is the WBO’s position that the best interests of boxing and, most importantly, the fighters themselves are best served by allowing the unification bout to proceed prior to discharging the mandatory obligation,” WBO President Gustavo Olivieri posted on social media.

“In doing so, the division will once again crown an undisputed champion, elevating the sport and its athletes to the highest standard,” Olivieri wrote. “It is further clarified that Joseph Parker’s mandatory status is upheld, and he remains next in the rotation system following the unification.”

The WBO’s mandatory obligation has not been fulfilled for years, though it’s not as if the belt hasn’t been defended in major fights.

Usyk won the WBO title, as well as the IBF and WBA belts, from Anthony Joshua in September 2021 and then retained it in their August 2022 rematch. Usyk then defeated Dubois in August 2023, beat Fury for the WBC title (and therefore became undisputed) in May 2024 and won the Fury rematch last December.

This interim WBO title was introduced in September 2022, about a month after Usyk-Joshua II. Interestingly, it started in a fight Parker was involved in: his knockout loss to Joe Joyce.

The belt has changed hands twice since: Zhilei Zhang stopped Joyce twice in 2023. Parker edged Zhang via majority decision in March 2024 and then took out late replacement Martin Bakole this past February.

Of course, the winner of Usyk-Dubois II is under no obligation to face Parker, though that is a fight that many boxing fans want to see. If they were to vacate the belt, then Parker would be elevated to the full WBO titleholder.

Panto season.

Usyk shaped up in about a quarter of a second and would have switched Dubois off before Dan had even got his right foot moving back.

Too bad he skipped past Parker.

That would have been a good test.

Definitely.

I’d have swerved him as well

But then again if anyone hit me I’d start crying and run off

Well I’d waddle
