I agree with most of what you said but it's not looking so good for Hearn right now. His "future superstar" Chaves got destroyed on the same card.

Peaks and troughs, I agree Eddie's stable doesn't have the depth in talent it had a few years ago but it's still vast, plus he's usually got options on whoever upset his guy, he's already signed Mielnicki and he'll probably put Knyba in a big fight

I kinda had an inkling that with 3 years off and not looking too impressive last time out Ruiz wasn't gonna do well here. I should've bet on Knyba. Ah well.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…

Before entering the ring for Damian Knyba loss, the 37 year old past-his-prime version of Andy Ruiz Jr. had only fought three times in six years and nine months.

That doesn’t sound like someone who loves the sport and enjoys being punched in the head as a hobby.

The likes of Mike Tyson, Sonny Liston, Chris Eubank Sr., and Bernard Hopkins have all referred to boxing as a "dirty business", it was strictly as a brutal job to secure financial freedom. There's nothing wrong with Andy Ruiz Jr. treating the sport in the same way.

Andy could have had a much bigger legacy if he just had the discipline to train harder, eat better, and be more active.
I thought physically he looked pretty good in the lead up to the fight- well for Andy at least.
Turns out father time got him.

Is it the greatest lucky break of any fighter ever?

Miller failing the test just as Andy was in shape from fighting an opponent who was ideal prep for Joshua. Gets the fight from DMing Hearn. Lands a bomb when Aj is going for the finish, then gets the first load of Saudi cash for the rematch.

He took his chance when it came, so not taking anything away from him. But the stars don’t align like that very often.

Andy had ridiculous skills and talent, despite his physique.
To see a man carry so much surplus weight and box so well against good heavyweight opponents…….and then he wins and loses the heavyweight title….and hardly fights again?
Seriously, who was guiding that career?

Stop talking about fighters purses, it is not relevant. 'I don't care. Stop making excuses for a professional fighter, not being good enough when the going got tough in his career'.

Andy Ruiz Junior did not treat the sport of boxing the same way as Mike Tyson, Chris Eubank Junior, Bernard Hopkins or Sonny Listen. None of those fighters did not just disappear after one loss at top level, those guys did not just rely on motivation because they had discipline like Oleksandr Uysk has stated he has in his career' etc.

How did he beat Joshua is all I want to know.

Imagine if he was as interested in boxing as he is with tattoos, food, and getting high. Don't get me wrong I don't mind the last two.
