Too many to name but favourites possibly Pantera, old Metallica and Megadeath. But also listen to Manic Street Preachers, Oasis, Stone Roses and Bob Marley. Many others.

I have a few favs - London Calling, The Call up, Bank Robber. Still can't fathom the fact Joe Strummer died of a heart attack at 50. Dying's meant to be for old people

Most of that stuff is alt-country or folk-tinged acoustic stuff.

I've got albums by Bonnie 'Prince' Billy (also known as Will Oldham) Cat Power and Jim White.

Stujones has the most eclectic tastes so far...

My favorite all-time bands are probably The Kinks and DEVO

but I also like...

country: Hank Williams, Sr., Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Buck Owens, Merle Haggard

rap: Ice T, Run DMC, Geto Boys, Public Enemy

surf/garage: The Sonics, Dick Dale, Link Wray, Man Or Astro-Man, Jack O Fire

punk: Misfits, Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, Angry Samoans, Fear

metal: Motorhead, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath (only with Ozzy), Iron Maiden.

The two bands I'm embarassed to admit that I like are ABBA and Sweet.

I'm surprised - this being the British Forum - that The Buzzcocks and 999 haven't been mentioned. Hardly anyone in the US is familiar with 999, but they've always been one of my favorites.

Yeah, I got to see them live at Emo's in Austin, TX - and it was a helluva show. They were wearing "helmets" made out of gutted TV's and for their encore, they brought out a Tesla coil onstage.

A few years ago, they toured the US with their "Clone Project" (for those of you who don't know, Man Or Astro-Man claim to be be holographic images beamed from outer space) - it was three different Man Or Astro-Man bands, so the band could be in three cities at once - one of them was all-girl incarnation...
