McGuigan Estate Limestone Coast Shiraz is on sale at Sainsbury's for £4.99 and is a real steal. Made on Greg Norman's estate. It is notably blackcurranty and the oak is in the background rather than screaming "look at me" I would pay upwards of £8 for this so at a £5 it is a good deal and I am going to buy a few more bottles today

I like the Yulumba vineyard from South Australia they used to do one called Galway Vintage , really nice bottle of Shiraz that was, the rest they do is good as well, mostly cost 4-10 pounds

at the end of the day after a bottle it makes little difference anyway.

its all about palate anyway, i tend to prefer the reds that burst with flavour, but depends on my mood and whjther i am eating.

I wouldnt just drink a shiraz without food, far too heavy, but a blended shiraz you may be able to do so and get a full bodied wine that isnt too oakey and full of tannins.

Im a big fan of blended grapes.

I worked at a couple of vineyards when i was in Australia and i remember someone saying it had to do with the skin of the grape, i'm not sure what though

correct it is not the colour of the grape (i.e. red for red wine nor white for white wine), grape juice is generally light in colour anyway, its whether they leave the skins off or on and ferment them in the vinification process.

top marks to topper for having a scooby, the rest of you, lilttle one to impress your boss/ lady over lunch sometime.

yip it will be very boring when you come over next and im tucking into a decent botlte of red and you are stuck with two cans of out of date worthington bitter that are floating around the bottom of my fridge.
