My faith in how s**t this programme has been restored.

The whole show is an absolute joke nowadays, goes on for ages, sends everyone to sleep and then they give it to some muppet that has hardly done anything.

The real grafters in their sports don't get a look in, then again i hardly think any sports personality has this award on their mind at the start of a season/year anyway.

Its the most worthless award IN SPORT!!!

I am sure Desert Orchid and Red Rum will be doing cart wheels in their horsey heaven in the sky thinking 'if I didn't have that prick on board then I could have been somebody, I could have been a contender, I could have won best Dressage at the world champs with a bit of royal snatch bestriding my girth. But good luck to the distant relative.'

What's the kafuffle? Realistcally, was the BBC ever going to go for someone else when a member of the royal family was on the list? Besides, Zara's a nice girl. It's become eerily like the Eurovision song contest though, just politics and popularity.

On a side note; Roger Federer as overseas personality? He may be a great tennis player, but I've seen more personality from wet cardboard boxes. I just can't find a way to explain that selection.

Top of my head, relegating JC due to Manfredo, it's been a woman's year. I'd have Tweddle, Cooke and Rudman in the top three. Enzo Maccarinelli would be my boxing choice.

Well that's a good point.....what is the exact criteria for 'Sports Personality of the Year'..... I mean I assume it's based on some sort of sporting achievement along with popularity???

Or what? It's not really clear.... I think the title is a bit of a misnomer, if it was about personality then Henman and Rusedski (I think they're past winners or at least nominees) have even less personality than Federer...a piss-covered paper bag perhaps?

Mind you they didn't achieve much in their given sport either - so where's the logic?

On another tact - I fantasise about eating Zara's royal snatch, but riding a horse is hardly a sport in pure terms - the horse if the f---ing athlete.
