You'd make a cracking Boxing Promoter Chris........ but a shit British Boxing fan IMO. Hattons already earned about £30m in his career why is money still his sole objective in the sport, especially considering his humble 'Man of the People' lifestyle. Fight Junior and get some respect back

Spud, most of the casual fans still think Hatton's the bees knees, but IMO even they will start to turn (are starting to turn) when the truth about Hattons ducking comes to light on and around May 10th
Firstly, he ain't David Beckham and his career earnings would surely not be that high considering his only really good pay days (ie over 1 million) were the US fights after Tsyzu so thats a gross exaggeration from a Witter fan.

Secondly, its just cold harsh facts - Witter needs him whereas he doesn't need Witter financially. In fact Witter could harm his potential earning power at this stage even if he wins messy it could lead to rematch clauses etc because of it being a WBC title.

PLUS IT TELLS A STORY THAT WITTER IS THE CHAMP & HE'S DESPERATE FOR HATTON, WHY? IT AIN'T FOR THE GLORY ITS FOR THE £ SO LETS BE COMPLETELY HONEST ABOUT THAT!! He's WBC Champ but boxing is all about bums on seats and without Hatton he can't do it - FACT.

Thirdly, Witter hasn't been champ that long yet so perhaps in a year if Witters still got the title and Hatton has had his money spinners in the States then it could happen.

Hattons got more sense than to let his ego get the better of him at this stage. I think the Witter fight will be the career defining fight that happens in a year or two before one or both retire.

My prediction is Summer 2009 or 10 - Witter then retirement for Hatton..

Hatton made over £6million on his WBU run, and £2million from the Maussa fight. Steven Bunce says he made £5million from the Castillo fight in-all including sponsors, and Pat Sheehan says he made over £20million from the Mayweather fight.

Its not about 'should it happen' because in an ideal world it would have happened a long time ago but this world is an imperfect place and Hatton is on the tail end of his career who has no interest in fighting a domestic rival for chump change. (in relation to what he can earn if he fights De La Hoya or Cotto for example)

To call Hatton a coward (like some have on here) is a facking outrageous slur! Sure he has fought a lot of plantpots but he has also fought some
potential all time greats.

What respect does he have to earn off you anyway? Serious question here
Chambers... if we had done what he has achieved or even a quarter we would all be pretty pleased with ourselves - its funny how the wheels of the bandwagon have started to come off when he got KO'd (never mind he was in the ring with the worlds finest active fighter)

So you're looking at career earnings of around £40million so far for The Hitman, or $80million+. And he's yet to beat a world-class fighter in their prime... does it add up, to you? He didn't beat a world top 10 fighter in his first 38 wins, either, and has never fought a mandatory contender in his life. Does it add up?

All Hatton has to do is fight Junior Witter to gain my (and I'd imagine plenty of other British boxing fans) respect back. My Hatton-Witter stance has got nothing to do with him getting KO'd I've been calling for this fight for years, since we were on the Doghouse (about 4 forums ago  ).

I praised Hatton on here when he took the Mayweather fight and I was behind him in the build-up, because he was taking on an excellent fighter in an excellent fight (I even had hopes of him winning a UD (my fault not Hattons)), but by the same logic he should be getting slated on here when he fights below par opponents and continues to avoid the fighter we want to see him in the ring with, plus all this 'gift to the fans' bollocks and 'Man of the people' bollocks wound me up because it's absolute drivel, designed to get even more money out of the paying public

The fight should have happened long ago and it should be happening now or at least in the pipeline, surely Hatton can't be earning more money for fighting Lazcano than he would for fighting Witter, considering Witters very very low demands.

The facts are this is would be a humungous fight for British Boxing (BIGGEST ever IMO) and the only reason it isn't taking place is Ricky Hatton. It's a kick in the teeth for the British fans and British Boxing IMO

I love the ridiculous guess work on his earnings... well if those people said it MUST be true.... you don't know the facts mate so stop speculating end of.... he's earned good money in the last few fights yeah but he isn't a premiership footballer and he only gets paid when he steps in the ring...

Also I like the post above about craving respect and the wheels of the bandwagon starting to come off - Good Point Mate!!

Fact is = his style is exciting in America and he's cashing in and I'd do exactly the same and I wouldn't give a f*** what people said...

Witters the Champ but needs him more than he needs Witter END OF... like or not he earns more for non title fights so why bother...

Witters not desperate to fight Ricky for the money as Junior has said "It's personal", he's even offered to fight Ricky for free, so don't tar Junior with the same brush as 'Money Hatton'.

As for the it'll happen next year theory, I don't buy into that or particularly like the idea. Rickys used EVERY EXCUSE IN THE BOOK and not once has put the option there that if Junior still has his title in a year or so that he'll fight him, he's declined plenty of opportunities already, also I don't want to see shells of both of them duking it out right at the end of their careers.

If they did sit down, I think Witter will do a Thaxton. Say he'll fight for free in public, then when they sit down ask for a lot of money, it'll fall through and then Witter will say Hatton is a coward.

I hope I'm wrong.

I don't think Witters demands would be a problem, because he knows his worth rockets when he spark out Money Hatton

True

I'd be a start if we they were to get to the negotiating table. Personally I'd be amazed if it were Juniors demands that stopped the fight happening, but hopefully Time Will Tell

you know full well mayweather would just play with him, probably not have to get out of 1st gear, id say mayweather went into 3rd gear vs hatton at least. u ppl cant compare Witter with Hatton yet, Hatton has faced a completely different level of oponent

PBF would have a harder time with Witter!

3rd gear to beat Hatton? I THINK NOT!

You can not stay in 1st gear against an unorthodox switch hotter with speed and good power and a good chin,

Wake up!

I would LOVE PBF to fight Witter - PBF UD12.

yeah i think the same Mayweather UD12. Witter comes out and makes it a bit complicated for 3-4 rounds for Mayweather, still Mayweather is in 1st gear. Then Witter tires, holds, runs, holds, runs, moves, runs and goes into survival mode, like he did against Judah. Easy fight for Mayweather, lol Witter might try his cobra antics lol lmao

:D

But he won't headbutt a ring post and get mashed down like you know who!

With about 5 weeks to go til 'Hattons homecoming', have the main support bouts to Hatton-Lazcano been announced yet???

I see that some of the VIP boys are lower down the card, but are they going to put on a decent support bout(s) to try and justify the cards ludicrous PPV status??

Malignaggi-N'Dou must be the main support bout.

so Hattons gift to his fans consists of him fighting someone who he clearly outclasses and an unnecessary rematch between a yank who's stuck in reverse and a hard-working Ozzie....... and it's all for the amazing price of £14.99. Ricky doesn't half spoil his fans with his over zealous gifts
