If Gomez and Limond where prime, hard hitting, natural 140lb'ers and proven fighters then you could praise Khan for being put down and then coming back to win by two stoppages. However, the fact remains, Khan's been put down by a super featherweight who wasn't considered a puncher at all and another super featherweight who hadn't had a decent win in three years and who was way past him prime (he also didn't budge Johannson and he's a bit chinny down at 130lbs). I don't mean to sound negative but these two fighters, along with Drilzane aren't anything other than domestic fighters, at best (Drilzane excluded), so could you imagine Khan going in with Casamayor, Campbell or Guzman? Even if they're not considered punchers, they're still going to hurt him, because his chin's made of a china. Perhaps when he moves up if will be stronger but at the moment, he's a KO waiting to happen, and Gomez wrapped it up perfectly with his "Khan has world class skills but world class faults at the same time" quote.

You're an idiot. Why is it only you who brings religion and politics into fight threads? friggin 'bigot.

If you can't understand irony, then maybe you're the idiot.

Anyway from a boxing perspective it changes nothing..Khan is a media mirage and will get ironed out by the first decent lightweight he faces

Noticed in the run up to the fight that a lot of the press was focusing on Kahn’s conditioning training and how he nearly passed out sometimes. Think Khan has got the training the wrong way round and he should concentrate a lot more on the basics of his game. Surely his too low body to fat ratio means every time he’s banged in the body, like Gomez did is going to hurt a lot more than it would if he had some protection down there?

Khan is not a great fighter to watch, he fights ugly and always seems to get drawn into the fights that his opponents want, he tried to brawl a proven brawler at times which isn’t the smart thing to do, at least he had the good grace to admit it.

With his blistering hand speed and good footwork, people shouldn’t be able to hand a punch on him, he should be able to get in and out very quickly. If he insists on getting into it why not adopt the Mayweather roll of the shoulder technique or something similar to try and at least neutralise his opponents attacks, if he had something like that he would not have been knocked down against Gomez.

Khan has a lot of ability but he also seems to have a lot of issues.

He shows great speed, outs the shots together well and seems to have determination and heart.

The problems are there though. He seems to burn up a lot of energy. In this way he still seems to have some old amateur habits. he's getting away with it at the moment because he's not fighting at the ability level he is at. He also seems to neglect his jab too much and relies on flurries. He should be eprfecting his jab against these kinds of opponents.

When he got hurt with the body punch he re-grouped and came roaring back. I mean that's great in terms of mental strength and it obviously impressed my mates but I was shocked at how he just ran forward in a straight line. Khan needs to stop banging on about his conditioning or how big he's becoming... At true world class level this is a given and nothing more. He needs to be joining up the dots on the skills he needs in the ring.

The other concern for me is that his faults aren't really being exposed because he's so much bigger than his opponents come fight time. He won't always have the benefit of this size advantage.

He can do it if he sticks to his skills and keeps trying to become a better fighter... The raw talent is there. He's improved a lot but he's still raw.

Warren is the worse than Don King and tries to bring up legends by feeding a good amateur with bums.
Very few amateur champs became real good world champs, and Khan is no Oscar De La Hoya or Lenox Lewis.
If Khan was really what Warren is trying to make us believe, he should have cruised easily and ended this fight early and without trouble.

Adopting Mayweather's style is something he's already tried to do. Haven't you been watching Amir's training videos? That's his whole problem if you ask me. I imagine he spends his whole training camps imagining that he's Floyd Mayweather (how FMJR is on those media days anyway) when he should be working on his own deficiencies.

For fcuks sake, are you actually trying to compare Willie Limond and a shot to shit Gomez against the likes of Barrera, Pac-Man, Mosley etc. Get with the program, Khan is being put down by, at best British class, light punching, super-featherweights (Gomez's shot hardly even connected).

Get your head out the cornflakes bowl :box:
Morales and Cotto have been rocked and tagged by plenty of none world class fighters. That was my point, not the time they were rocked by the very best.

Anyway its more about styles for me. Khan gets hurt and regroups, thats what a fighters supposed to do when they are hurt

Gomez may not be world class but I'd say he possibly has world class power. Hatton was rocked and cut by plenty of none world class guys on his rise

Anyway I rewatched the fight last night on ITv3 and Khan wasn't badly hurt anyway.

Hatton-Khan probably won't happen. I also feel Ricky may now be on the boarder of decline, rather than improving, but Ricky is sensible to enough to know when he's had enough. Anyway, I reckon Hatton will retire towards end of 2009!

Back to Khan, & recently Amir said he would like to fight Pacquiao-Diaz winner :D . Not a smart move at all. There's no way Warren will allow Pacquiao or Diaz box Khan. Manny would light Amir up like a christmas tree if the fought soon!

I was thinking about Nigel Benn's early war with Anthony Logan and that possibly offers some hope for Khan to still 'make it'.

Logan wasn't really much, probably no better than Gomez and worse than Limmond but Nigel still went on to acheive good things.....

Just looking for a positive spin really - not saying Khan will go on to emulate Nigel Benn, just that all is not lost just yet.

If he was to look at Benn's career as some kind of model he could do a lot lot worse than look at the period when Nigel went to the US post-Watson. He learned a lot in that time....

i think khan is the most over exposed boxer in brittish boxing he has never been in with a boxer who could be considered a theat and he has always boxed featherweight who are on the way out or are well exposed and cant punch remember they say he going to win world titles . i would almost say micheal gomes would have distrobyed khan at his prime. he does have great hand speed but is looking good against guy who cant win . i dont think he boxed anybody that the bookie have not had him at 1/10 on because they no that his opponent have no chance . no wonder itv are walking away and he going on setanta
he needs a geniue contender it the only way he will improve . i genuinely think kevin mitchel would stop khan and also john thaxton would beat him
