Only Manny who should be on Khan's list is Manny Steward, who I think could be the trainer to turn Khan into a more efficient fighting machine.

I agree with you. Amir is tall compared to those in his division, has a good jab (that he hasn’t used properly yet) , fast hands and low punch resistance. Manny made Wlad - who matches that description - boring as hell to watch but really tidied him up on the inside, and enabled him to become much more effective. I'm not comparing the two boxers in any in-depth sense, but they both have the same weakness and potentially the same advantages to protect it. Manny S might be the guy to help Khan out too.DIRT SUGAR wrote:Only Manny who should be on Khan's list is Manny Steward, who I think could be the trainer to turn Khan into a more efficient fighting machine.
2 good posts, totally agree perhaps the Gomez fight has humbled Amir and given him a dose of reality, hopefully he'll prove he's the best in Britian before looking further afield.JLM wrote:I agree with you. By the way, has Amir said anything about going after a world title since the Gomez fight? I’m not sure but I haven’t heard anything in the news. The trouble Gomez gave him might be the best thing that could’ve happened to him - if it (and watching Pacman’s lead right hook cut Diaz to pieces the other day) made Khan realise he’s not ready for the big boys yet he’s basically learnt the lessons that boxers usually only get from a loss, but without losing. He looked gutted after the Gomez fight so it must have had some sort of impact on the length of time in which he wants to achieve his ambitions.
Cheers, and also, I think people should realise he's a young kid in a macho environment. It's natural that he's going to get a bit carried away and talk big on occasions, that's why young boxers have loads cautious of people around them. If they didn't they'd all fight for the world title when they were 10-0, and get KTFO'd. When I was his age I thought I was invincible! But realising ones limitations is part of growing up.Dirk Kelly wrote:2 good posts, totally agree perhaps the Gomez fight has humbled Amir and given him a dose of reality, hopefully he'll prove he's the best in Britian before looking further afield.JLM wrote:I agree with you. I've never heard of anyone wishing for Mayweather's intelligence beforeGray-Fox wrote:He wants to be Mayweather, but he only wants to be Floyd because it looks good to be Floyd. I don't know Amir at all, but if he had the same intelligence as Floyd Mayweather and the same approach to the sport as a young Floyd, I'd be surprised.
He comes across as a very clued up and smart businessman. In interviews he's very articulate and others he's just being brash...Maybe I see things in what he says that others don't. I guess Floyd's supporters are just going to have to accept that many people think he's a dumb little *****, which I'm sure will piss him off when he's sunbathing on his yacht in St. Tropez. Seriously though, I think he's a very intelligent guy, and could have succeeded at almost anything he attempted to do in life, including academia.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:I've never heard of anyone wishing for Mayweather's intelligence beforeGray-Fox wrote:He wants to be Mayweather, but he only wants to be Floyd because it looks good to be Floyd.
