Only Manny who should be on Khan's list is Manny Steward, who I think could be the trainer to turn Khan into a more efficient fighting machine.

I agree with you. Amir is tall compared to those in his division, has a good jab (that he hasn’t used properly yet) , fast hands and low punch resistance. Manny made Wlad - who matches that description - boring as hell to watch but really tidied him up on the inside, and enabled him to become much more effective. I'm not comparing the two boxers in any in-depth sense, but they both have the same weakness and potentially the same advantages to protect it. Manny S might be the guy to help Khan out too.

By the way, has Amir said anything about going after a world title since the Gomez fight? I’m not sure but I haven’t heard anything in the news. The trouble Gomez gave him might be the best thing that could’ve happened to him - if it (and watching Pacman’s lead right hook cut Diaz to pieces the other day) made Khan realise he’s not ready for the big boys yet he’s basically learnt the lessons that boxers usually only get from a loss, but without losing. He looked gutted after the Gomez fight so it must have had some sort of impact on the length of time in which he wants to achieve his ambitions.

2 good posts, totally agree perhaps the Gomez fight has humbled Amir and given him a dose of reality, hopefully he'll prove he's the best in Britian before looking further afield.

Cheers, and also, I think people should realise he's a young kid in a macho environment. It's natural that he's going to get a bit carried away and talk big on occasions, that's why young boxers have loads cautious of people around them. If they didn't they'd all fight for the world title when they were 10-0, and get KTFO'd. When I was his age I thought I was invincible! But realising ones limitations is part of growing up.

Don't get me wrong, I think that Khan was/is very mistaken regarding his belief that he's ready for the top level. But I think the stick he's come in for for being wrong is a bit harsh. His is an understandable mistake, which I believe he'll come to realise soon - which will be a credit to him. Other boxers have made outrageous claims bout their ability and not received as much stick, after all.

You can discuss his potential all you like, but he thinks he's the next mayweather, infact he said he'd beat floyd over 4 rounds with headguards, the true future superstars didnt, and wouldnt, be floored by the likes of michael gomez and willie limmond. I think he's badbly advised and told he's far better than he is, constantly. He is not the second coming.

He wants to be Mayweather, but he only wants to be Floyd because it looks good to be Floyd. I don't know Amir at all, but if he had the same intelligence as Floyd Mayweather and the same approach to the sport as a young Floyd, I'd be surprised.

I've never heard of anyone wishing for Mayweather's intelligence before  PBF has a good boxing mind but outside of that.....

He comes across as a very clued up and smart businessman. In interviews he's very articulate and others he's just being brash...Maybe I see things in what he says that others don't. I guess Floyd's supporters are just going to have to accept that many people think he's a dumb little *****, which I'm sure will piss him off when he's sunbathing on his yacht in St. Tropez. Seriously though, I think he's a very intelligent guy, and could have succeeded at almost anything he attempted to do in life, including academia.

Makes me laugh actually because people used to think Tyson/Eubank were intelligent just because they name-dropped a few philosophers (particularly Tyson). Not that I'm saying he wasn't clever, but to use that as a basis to judge a man's intelligence is nonsense. I feel the same kind of illogicality is being used reversely, to discredit Mayweather's intelligence.

That'd be an excellent move for ratboy. In light of this perhaps Frank will put him in with someone decent in Sept, assuming the move to the US could also lead to a new promoter?!

it been all talk regarding khan going to america but it on some sites that they are bringing over a coach from america there are a number of candidates i personally would like to see freddie roach or emanual stewart as they would tighten his defence and show him how to punch with his weight behind the punch . but he would be foolish to leave allegedly as he is the best in britton . but he has to remember he been well managed it is his trainnors or the boxer who making the mistakes
