Line 10 top heavyweights up, have Haye and Klitschko each fight them, and I would be confident that the Ukrainian would beat more. However, I think the Hayemaker would have Vlad.

Haye struggles against shorter fighters who can put the pressure on, but excels against taller men, especially those with European tutelage. Klitschko’s is stamina is suspect enough to render the Haye stamina issue mute, and both seem to be vulnerable in the chin department.

Of course, one never knows how Haye will react when hit by a full blown heavyweight wearing 10 oz gloves, but I would actually argue that Haye has fought a higher caliber of opponent. Relevant to his weight division, he clearly hasn’t; but the paucity of heavyweight talent combined with the prestige of the heavyweight division means that simply awful fighters are hyped, gain exposure and settle into top ten positions. For years the cruiserweight division has been better quality, and has certainly had the better fights.

If Vlad can establish his jab or fight at his pace, Haye would be in an uphill battle, but in recent fights, the muscled Ukrainian has simply pawed with the jab, and fought in a painfully conservative manner in order to play the percentages, conserve his tiny stamina reserves, and protect his china chapes. I think Haye has enough to trouble Vlad, and take him out of his comfort zone, where, I suspect, the one-dimensional Klitschko will be pretty clueless. I think Haye will find Klitchko’s chin easily and early, and I believe he’d win.

An outrageous prediction, but it’s just a gut feeling. Haye is super confident, and rather, as he claims, than going after the best of the best, I suspect he’s cannily going against the champion he’s most likely to beat and framing it as chasing the king pin. Sometimes fighters ‘just know’ they’ll beat a certain other boxer. And I think David would, indeed, beat Klitschko.

He put up a good fight though. It will be a decent win for Haye on paper and as a point of comparison.

Peter is the number two fighter in the division and has fought Klitschko and beaten: Toney x2, McCline and Maskaev, so his record is not padded it is actually a good solid record with good names on it.

Every fighter is limited, Max, but it has not stopped Peter beating a lot of good fighters. Oleg was a World champion only a few months ago, so for Haye to fight him (if he does) in his next fight would be very impressive (whether Makaev's style is "made" for Haye or not).

Is there any pleasing you? Who are the good fighters at heavyweight? Oleg can still punch and is ranked in the top 10 of the independent rankings, he is not a bad opponent for a heavyweight novice.
