Khan fight is PPV and against Breidis Prescott!
Re: Khan fight is PPV and against Breidis Prescott!
So every time Khan fights will it be PPV? (Unless it's an absolute flop.) Or is the PPV also being justified by an "authentic world title fight" i.e. Arthur-Cook?
I don't need any extra cost adding to my cable bill. £15 to see Hatton hugging, £15 to watch Calzaghe flap and flail vs a "living legend", and £15 to watch Khan 3 times a year?
Us all saying that ppl shouldn't buy Khan-Breastcote is like a film critic saying "don't watch the Robocop and Freddy Kruger remakes as it's an insult to the audience." The audience don't know what they're seeing is an insult to their intelligence & will end up supporting the latest plop that is churned out.

Let's hope so - we'll see if they do this week.Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:Spot on, Ian. But they won't and it's embarrassing. Boxing News, as a trade paper, has a responsibility to say that this really isn't worth buying.
Harry Mullen would have tore the execs a new a-hole.

I bet they don't. I'm sure Claude will be his usual restrained self, when it comes to reporting on two jabs Prescott PPV.Captain Hook wrote:Let's hope so - we'll see if they do this week.Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:Spot on, Ian. He'll never criticise FW it seems, for the sake of his ringside seats. Their toothless coverage of the sad state of British boxing is one of the reasons I stopped buying BN years ago.

I'm still shocked to think that SKY have the audacity to pimp this as a PVP event - It would be interesting to see Victor have to answer some tricky questions from the boxing fraternity.
What makes it even more comical is that SKY bet have Khan 1/33 to win the fight.
Makes me wonder what the deal with Setanta now means:

Perhaps Sky and Warren are prepared to risk a loss on Khan's first PPV. If it's as poor as I suspect it might be, they may start putting Khan on SkySports with the message being sent out "you lucky fans, Khan's fighting on normal SkySports" until it's real world title time, whenever the hell that might be. Just a theory.
Hope this shows goes down like a sack of spuds.
A bad blow for the sport after Sky have been putting on a whole series of fights with proper titles on the line.....which coincided with Warren's departure....back to WBwho shit
Hope this shows goes down like a sack of spuds.
Re: Khan fight is PPV and against Breidis Prescott!
Doesn't the deal mean nothing because SN don't hold a promoter's licence whereas FW does? Isn't that FW's way out. I want to see what Setanta are going to do about this.Twinkle Toes wrote:I'm still shocked to think that SKY have the audacity to pimp this as a PVP event - It would be interesting to see Victor have to answer some tricky questions from the boxing fraternity.

Anyway, if FW is the best in the business, why can't he do better than this (Prescott)? Or does the fact that he can get away with this make him the best?
Re: Khan fight is PPV and against Breidis Prescott!
Search, this is Britain, the land of complete mugs who have more money than sense. If this PPV does well then it shows once again how gullible people can be. I begrudge paying PPV fees for world title fights(infact the only PPV I've ever bought was Mayweather v Hatton) so I'm not going to be paying extra to watch a prospect especially when it's guaranteed to be repeated a week later on normal Sky.search wrote:![]()
And Sky actually expect to be taken seriously!
Surely the MUGS won't even buy this.

Re: Khan fight is PPV and against Breidis Prescott!
Agreed, and this is a big enough con that it is newsworthy. However, Sky is majority owned by News International which of course prints the Sun and the Times among others. So no chance of anything negative there.Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:Spot on, Ian. But they won't and it's embarrassing. The build up is bound to be all over Sky News too. Remember when Setanta nabbed Hatton for the Castillo fight and all of a sudden as far as Sky news was concerned little Ricky disappeared.
All changed by the time Mayweather came around on Sky PPV though
Re: Khan fight is PPV and against Breidis Prescott!
yep, Sky Sports news are very good at totally ignoring sports that don't appear on their channels - look at how little time they spend talking about the Olympics.

That's what I suspect...sad but true.

I'm not paying for it or going to a boozer to watch it, the fights uninspiring, who cares about Columbian taxi drivers? Yes I'd prob buy it on ITV to see how hes coming along and if it was a top10 opponent I'd buy it. Wake me when he fights someone with a pulsesweetscience wrote:but what do you reckon your chances are of just walking in the boozer when its on ?rhino222 wrote:no way am i paying for the fecker, its a friday fight night standard bill !!!!

LOL at you guys automatically assuming that this fight can't be competitive.
I hate warren and his shit fights as much as the next guy, but Khan is so fragile, defensively so bad, and this guy is a puncher on paper, so you just never know. Even if the guy is a bum he will likely land a few.

There's an ANTI-PPV petition doing the rounds on this if you feel so inclined. Practical effects of it are obviously debatable but wouldn't do any harm if you feel like it

Re: Khan fight is PPV and against Breidis Prescott!
This is the internet my friend. Your right almost everyone will have seen it, but not because they went down the pub. It will be streamed live, it will be on multiple torrent sites about half an hour after it's finished and it will probably turn up on youtube as well. No need to buy into that shite when you can see it for free.sweetscience wrote:everyone is saying they aint buying this fight etc

Nope not a word, but there is a 6 page interview with Warren - I guess that says it all.
Shame on you Boxing news, but thanks for giving me something to put down in the chicken pen.
