To be fair he went to Denmark and beat McIntyre (Who? Yes, I know), beat Veit in Germany, then he went to America and beat Hopkins and Jones.

So for him to be getting so much stick and Kessler to be lauded, when he beat Kessler quite comfortably, is a little unfair.

You half admit it yourself, going to Denmark and beating McIntyre and beating Veit in Germany is hardly eart shattering....he went and fought the two americans when they were over the hill(sorry, RJJ is over the hill, Hopkins past his best)

He should have made the trips to America, FORCED these fights years ago, instead he says he's scared of flying, just like B.A Baracus..

If he went and lost, a la Hatton I would have so much respect for him..now he goes over when their time has passed and tells us he is a 'legend killer'

Why do you people hate Calzaghe so much? To write so many anti-comments, with so much venom is frightening.

The argument above seems to be, if he went to America and lost, you would respect him more. How ridiculous is that? What fights in the US have been available to him? Hatton and Mayweather were champions at the same weight at the same time? When has that been the case with Calzaghe and any big name American? Never! That is the beginning, middle and end of the argument. You can only be as good as you can be in your era, with the opposition available.
Someone was mentioning Archie Moore earlier - how pathetic is that. Moore was a big light-heavyweight who got battered every time he moved up and he only moved up because both divisions were so poor then. How do you think Pete Rademacher got a world title fight in his debut? Isn't that a sign of how sh!t the era was?

RJJ deserved his top 10 ranking, proved he was dangerous (early at least) but it's a case of Joe taking a fight only when he knows he's going to win. Smart, yes. Prove anything? Not much.

I think he showed what a superb light heavy champ he could be, as he looked big & fast in there.

He is a complete & utter plonker though.

I really wish he'd been in this kind of shape for Hopkins.

Will the offers pour in and will Joe take the bait? Hopkins rematch promises to be ugly but for the money and t get Hopkins on Joe's home turf, would that be worth it? I felt Joe beat Hopkins, but I still see it as a blemish, sort of.

When was the Jones fight perviously available to Calzaghe?
