Having read the attack on the sport, his withering attack on Froch's gutsy title win, plus all of the whinging attacks on Hatton, Degale, Pavlik and a raft of others - i'd rather see him go.

There aren't many fighters left who fit his blueprint anyway now.

And in truth, his slapping, cuffing, bum wiggling, gurning style which always ends up going the full 12 rounds, is not something that gets me turned on as a fan of boxing.

His reluctance to rematch Hopkins or Reid, yet he happily fought Mario Veit again after beating him inside a round previously, sums up his entire career to me.

And slagging off Roy Jones and saying that 'he'd prove nothing by being the third man to knock Jones out' ... then fighting him and NOT knocking him out was the cherry on his cake !

Suit yourself. I thought that moment when he stuck his face between Jones's guard was fantastic. Muhammad Ali belittling Richard Dunn was much more nasty.

Whilst I think a lot of what has been said against Calzaghe - and of course I have been a fierce critic of the welshman - but with that said surely credit should be given where it is due - Calzaghe is a genuine world class boxer who has done very well for himself and whether we like it or not he has done well for British Boxing - I think the only viable criticism left is he could have done so much more and a lot sooner with regards to the big fights.

I remember just a few years back Mr W arren got so much criticism for holding back the likes of Calzaghe and Hatton - now of course whilst I enjoy criticism of W arren - it seems he wasnt to blame for everything and indeed Calzaghe and Hatton did not need to resign their contracts if they were that appalled with their choice of opponents but yet they continued to resign until the twilight of their respective careers!!!

Personally Observer - I think you are the one thats delusional - f*cking big time - anyone will tell you I have been one of Calzaghe's fiercest critics - so much so when I stated a couple of years ago that I thought Carl Froch could beat Calzaghe - there was an avalanche of comments against my thoughts - whether it be ESB, Doghouse etc etc I have been extremely forthright concerning the bad points of the welshman - in addition when everyone was blaming W arren for Calzaghe's matchmaking and his opponents - I was the one who stated the welshman had his part to play and was stressing that he did not have to resign his contract renewals as and when they came up.

You seem intent in trying your best to have a pop - so when you do - please get your facts right!!!

Well i dont and never have been a member on ESB or the doghouse forums, so i can't vouch for your negative Calzaghe comments on there, but speaking from personal experience on THIS board, you seem to be one of the few hardcore Calzaghe supporters

Observer,

I have gone on record to state after the Kessler fight I thought Calzaghe deserved his place in the "World Class" bracket!!! - subequent fights against Bernard and RJJ have cemented that place - but I feel like a stuck record in that I will state again as good a fighter Calzaghe is - he could have done things a whole lot sooner!!!

What's wrong with being a Calzaghe fan? You would think people on here would be boxing fans, but you are one of those knobs who thinks to be a "real fan" you can't be a Calzaghe fan. I bet you can't find a British boxer who hasn't got respect for Calzaghe, including Froch. Yet there are people, like yourself, who just seem to spend all your time trying to do down his achievements? What's your motivation? You have long gone miles past the point where you could in anyway be claiming to put any perspective into a debate. Your remarks are ill conceived and just nasty. Why? Are negative Calzaghe comments some sort of pathetic right of passage among the subnormal?

All that hate isn't healthy

Nothing wrong with being a Calzaghe fan. Did i even say there was in the first place.

You can be fan of the worst Boxer ever, i dont care, that is your choice.

But i dont like it when Calzaghe fans come out with nonesense such as "He is a legend for beating Lacy" or " He would a nightmare for a prime RJJ/Prime Hopkins" and to some "He beat a prime RJJ and Prime Hopkins".

Calzaghe is a very talented fighter, and an undefeated record has credit where it is due, but to play the "Legend" Card is a bit too much for someone who has ducked and dodged fighters like Neo did with bullets

For f*ck sake!!! :o :o

I am not saying there is anything at all WRONG in being a fan of Calzaghe - please read my posts just on this thread as I have repeated them often enough!!!

Personally although I give him an immense amount of credit for the last couple of years - especially the Kessler fight - I am not a fan of Calzaghe and never will be - solely because yawn yawn and another yawn he could have done things so much sooner!!!
