Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
I love ratings :) Would it be possible to do a drop down of African and Asian fighters just like there are ratings for Europe, CN, US,MX, Latin America, and Commonwealth?

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
I'd like to see it more clearly if a boxer actually won most of his match in a differend weightclass or/and a long time ago.
For example take a look at the fight between Deontay Wilder and Damon McCreary .
Now on first sight you would think both are serious fighters, Deontay had a 24 fights 24 KO score and Damno McCreary had 15 matches with 15 wins, that's absolutely a great and awesome match.
Somehow I looked at the match and I saw a big fat old men versus and skinny trained guy.
So I looked a bit more carefull and noticed that the first 11 wins of Damno McCreary were won between the very end of 1998 and half 2001, at a time he was still a super middleweight most of the time.
Around 2007 (over 5 years later) he had another two fights while beïng a cruiserweight, around the end of 2010 (another 3 year and 50 pounds later) he had one latest fight against someone who only fought 3 matches in his life and has a current rating of 4 wins and 12 loses.
Then another almost 2 years and over 30 pounds later he became a heavyweight and fights a 24 fights 24 KO heavyweight.
So now we have a 39 year old fat guy with only 1 heavyweight fight experience and only 3 fights in over 11 years who gained over a 90 pounds in those years fighting the current champion of America.
Well I'm sorry, but that sounds at least a tiny bit unfair to me, but I guess Wilder gained some serious points against this 15 matches 15 wins fighter.
I guess this is the way how to become a champion of America nowadays, but I still think there should be done something about it or at least make it more easy to see what both guys have achieved in the past 5 years.

Re: Suggestions on BoxRec
Yes in the uk we have 'prize fighter' it's an elimination tournament where a boxer could fight 12 rounds but in 3 round bouts against up to 4 different opponents. With the short rounds the boxing is fast paced. Usually journeymen will take this route to try and gain exposure.Nodecision wrote:You mean this was really a round-robin tournament among these boxers on the same day? Is that allowable?

we are going to try it out and see how it goes downControversial wrote:Haven't read through all the posts so not sure if already suggested.
I think every fighters record should be numbered so you can see at a glance how many fights they had when they fought someone, fought the a title, had their first loss etc...etc...
So Mike Tyson for example would read -
(3) Don Halpin
(2) Trent Singleton
(Debut) Hector Mercedes
That what if any of the old timers records are incomplete then the number could be skipped to show when a fight is missing off their record

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
How about a place to add Boxers social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc...) so they are more accessible?
Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
Bring back the option of seeing rankings (you use to be able to click a bubble, and see a fighter's ranking points on a per-fight basis. This feature disappeared when the server was upgraded.)
Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
Boxrec. In the same way that you can search WBC heavyweight champion and see the bouts over the years and the baton change from champ to champ - can you please do the same thing for the boxrec champion? Is that not the point of having a ranking system? I've always found it odd that this doesn't exist.
Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
Hi this may have been disscused .. could boxrec ever rank coaches/trainers? Alot of low level pro trainers fall in the unknown men of the sport would be good to give them some sort of recognition, and would help alot of fighters who are looking for a coach in there local area.

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
If you went to a page like this - http://boxrec.com/title/COMM?division=Middleweight - you used to have a drop down window which would let you flick through the weights. I always found it very useful and an easy way to navigate.
Any chance of bringing it back?

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
I would like to suggest if it is possible (to rate in stars) fights before 2008 of the fighters, because it is difficult to know if some fight was 5,4,3 stars and so on, as I know if it is programmed it will be generalized for all fighters.
Another is in the schedule options to put an ascending and descending fights option to become more easily to find fights like 3 or 4 stars, like in excel option, or instead of this 2 more options like "4 stars fights" and 3 "stars fights"
Best regards'

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
Pardon me, but your all-time "computer" rankings are really horrible. Ali said he lost a "computer" fight to crude, short, slow, and unskilled Marciano because "I was beaten by a computer that was made in Alabama." Your computer also has input problems. You're not going by wins and losses or the records of their opponents and their opponent's records etc.
For example your all-time southpaw Heavweight rankikngs. Mike Schreck has a 59% win ratio and a 34% KO ratio. You appear to be giving Schreck massive credit for beating Marvin Hart 3 times. According to your research Hart was so fat he wasn't in shape to go 4 rounds in 1 Schreck win... Hart had a broken wrist in another Schreck win... and Hart was badly washed up in the 3rd Schreck win... Hart won only 3 of his last 7 fights. ALL those wins came by DQ. According to your research Hart was pretty much knocked out in 2 of those DQ wins by guys with bad records, so I doubt if he was ahead in his DQ win vs Sullivan. Hart's 2nd to last fight was a KO loss to a chinless Schreck. In his last fight neophyte Carl Morris dropped Hart repeatedly and stopped him quickly. Morris had 4 fights coming in, but no surprise. Hart was dropped by anything in his last 4 fights.
Corrie Sanders knocked Wladimir Klitschko, 41-1, out in 2 rounds. Sanders has a 91% win ratio and a 67% KO ratio. You rank him 12th, way behind Schreck and another small and frequent loser Jack Bodell who has a 82% and 44% KO ratio. Sultan Ibragimov has a win ratio of 92% and a KO ratio of 71%. He beat 2 Heavyweight Champions, yet you have him ranked 19th to Schreck and Bodell's 7th and 8th rankings. Sanders and Ibragimov would have murdered those 2 small, light hitters.

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
It may have already been suggested, but its an easy request.
I would like to see the WIN, LOSS and DRAW columns separated and then be able to sort them in order. I would like to see who has the most WINS/LOSS/DRAW in boxing today. Quickly looking at the first 20 pages of the boxing rating pages, Humberto Soto has the most wins with 65. I dont know how true this is as there are 20495 pages and over 20,000 boxers in the rankings

Re: Suggestions for BoxRec
On the schedule page, there should be a scroll box that lets you sort events according to their star rating.
I've created a mock-up:

I think it would be really good if there was a tick box next to each fight so logged in users could keep track of which fights they have seen..
