Auto,
I fully appreciate that sparring compared to an actual fight can produce differing impressions - but Kel always looks the business in training.
Hard sparring involves going more than 5 rounds and I've no fears whatsoever of him still looking the business in a longer fight.
He sometimes starts slow in sparring (hope he doesn't mind me making that observation) but once he's worked out the man in the other corner then he goes about his work - with ruthless effiency.
The sparring he's had over the last year or so hasn't been hand picked for him - rather the other way round.
He's travelled to Europe and the feedback was great.
Kel's got it.
He will be a World Champ. Totally confident.

Yes, I would think so although I do think Anderson might ask questions that maybe someone like Jennings won't. Jennings has been hurt by, what appears to be, lesser punchers than Brook.

Just wondering- how good is Brook's chin?
To be clear, I'm not knocking him. It's just that when people talk of him being a potential World champion, this is a relevant point. He has been down against Karl David.

Yes, I think its a good point - I don't think you can class Jones, McIntyre or Elwell as murderous punchers and I don't think we can tell if his punch power will hold up at world class. Elwell and McIntyre have been stopped before, against not huge punchers.
Look forward to finding out, cause he does look mustard.

Kell's knockdown against David was a flash one - he just touched down after taking a right wallop on the chin - punishment for jumping in. Wasn't hurt at all - immediately came back out and pressed David hard, stopping him two rounds later.
Trust me, Kell has got an excellent chin - this will definitely not cause a problem

give kell a break over elwell. it took bami 7 rounds to stop elwell, o'donnell when full 10 rounds with elwell and that ukrainian stopped elwell in 2 rounds and he 28 and 0 with 24kos.
brook has only been down once in his career and like dan said it was a flash knock down.
you either like brook or u dnt but every challange hes had put in front of him hes dealt with. its time people gave him a break and started to support him.
everyone said mcintyre was the man kell took him out with easy then the same people who said he was the man start saying mcintyre is chinney. people make your minds up

Dan's on the money.
When Kel suffered that knock down (a touch down actually), he committed the cardinal sin of diving in.
I believe that was a reaction to the frustration he'd suffered with boxers pulling out etc, and a desire to be more active and put on an explosive performance.
A bit of pent up anger but the sort you can't afford.
Once he got focused and went about his work then all was fine.
He's taken his share of shots from seasoned pros from all weight divisions in sparring.
Fully accept that this is different from being in a fight, but as a fan, I'm not worried.

Emma - you can sign me up for the Kell Brook fanclub
Granted Fridays fight turned out to be a mismatch, but this is due to Kell being exceptional and being above British title level. I can excuse this mismatch as Kell seems to have come on in leeps and bounds in his last 2 fights and he's still very young, Elwell was a semi-decent test on paper IMO. Although Kell clearly needs to be stepped up in his next fight(s)
Kell has looked a class act in his last 2 contests, if he can continue learning and performing like he is doing then I reckon he's destined for greatness. No doubt all the neigh-sayers will say 'He's only beat McIntyre and Elwell!', but it's the manner in which he's beat them that has impressed me. His power looks top notch, his composure was excellent and the way he was leaning back out of range of Elwells lead then countering it with the left was simply poetry in motion.
Kells chin has hasn't been properly tested yet and we're not sure how his stamina will hold up over the longer distances (this may be a worry considering his alleged discipline issues, in the past??) and his defence may need tightening up when he steps up in class, but in saying that I think Kell Brook is leading the way in Britains next generation of superstars.
Bring on Rafal 'Braveheart' Jackiewicz (European Champion)
http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?hu ... &cat=boxer
If they can't fight Braveheart next up maybe someone like Craig Watson, Young Mutley or Kevin Anderson

Brrook is a great prospect. Being brilliant is one thing, getting an opponent that will develop him is another - and as you've pointed out it is hard getting him fights. I hope he can get the fights that will get him to the very top. Of recent we've seen even world class Brits not getting the opponents - see the difficulties of Froch and Macca landing a good opponent - with opponents looking elsewhere even when a world title is on the line. Brook is young, he's come across at the right time (IMO) to make a mark at welter - Mayweather, Mosley will be well gone, Margarito and Cotto already risk being damaged goods, but viewers will be surely interested in the new talent coming through. I hope in a few years Brook is taking on and beating the likes of Andre Berto for a world title.
Maybe this British title could be a bit of a "ball and chain" for Brook, if the opposition are waiting for him to get his Lonsdale belt for keeps before moving to EBU level....

Because he is one of the best British Welterweights out there, and he might have the power and experience to give Brook problems and perhaps beat him.
Why wouldn't he be mentioned?

Elwell was a shocking contender if we're honest, even if there was no one else out there. I am certain that Lomax would've took the fight if he was offered it. Elwell was a county champion, or an English belt holder, at very best.

Emma, I don't think anyone is righting off or not supporting Brook. He looks a fantastic prospect. Just hard to judge how far he can go, knocking out Area level fighters like Elwell and Jones. McIntyre was a fantastic win, but can you imagine McIntyre vs Cotto? People are saying Brook is a world champion in the making, and he could very well be - just let him learn and see what he is like when his competition improves. McIntyre is a decent boxer, but is not the strongest at the weight and has been knocked out before.
People were still rubbishing Khan's world title chances, after he shut out a recent world champion at the devision below. Yet, Brook is a world champion to be after beating Elwell.
I am not condemming Brook's progress, he is still a baby really in boxing terms and needs to learn - just think its a little hard to call him a future world champion based on his British title defence.

Stu,
You've got to appreciate there are posters on here who don't see Brook as a sudden new kid on the block with bags of prospects.
In Sheffield he's been seen to flourish from the age of 7.
He was a "worst kept secret".
That's nothing to do with bragging rights, just a fact.
I know a couple of posters on here who have worked with him through his tender years, and I've been privelaged to see him evolve into the prospect we all knew he was, just by watching him work in the gym on occasions when I've been lucky enough to be looking on.
It takes a lot for me to put my neck on the line, but I do believe I've seen enough to say this kid will win a World belt.
That impression isn't based upon him knocking over Elwell - it' based on watching a young kid evolve and take on some tough tasks sparring home and abroad, and with differing weight divisions, and seeing the talent he possesses all come together.
He had some discpline problems in the past - that's old news.
No problems now.
Appreciate to anyone just beginning to take notice of him, that that is a bold prediction, but I do believe it.

fair points. I think it is a bold prediction - Cotto, Berto and all are a different planet to the amateur game (as Khan is showing), but hey - I cannot fault what he has done, and really his opponents - he is 22. He do hope to see some improvement in the opposition next time. Just a personal thing, I don't like fighters winning the lonsdale belt, beating substandard opponent. Sure McIntyre wasn't - but I do like to see more than one in the run they need.
Also a little worried he will not be left of the leash by his cautious promoter.

Brook V Elwell was a poor match. The BBBofC blundered when approving this one. That was also one of the worse Sky cards I can remember.
