Money and TV makes or breaks a fight so as far as I can see the fight is not on.

I have a feeling that this fight might end up on Setanta for some reason, but hopefully not SKY PPV. Who can afford another one of those? At the moment I feel that if Froch fights the way he did against Pascal then he’s in for a painful night, as surely loading up big punches and taking too many flush shots is suicide against a sharp boxer with Taylor’s experience?

As for ITV, I don’t see them shelling out for anything as big as this, in fact reading the newspaper recently an article claimed they were losing money by the bucketload and were looking to merge with channels 4 and 5 to create a superpower to rival the BBC – then we might get our big fights!

this is usually quite biased towards froch so if it say its on in here when theres rumours from froch camp that its off then id guess it just to hype it up or something cos cant see them reporting it if not , i know papers arent always right but he does have a special relationship with the newspaper of his hometown

'Not Signed' points to a deal being left on the table ignored which is not the case.

Froch's own website has the fight highlighted on the front page - which seems a bit strange if it isn't agreed. But clearly there is something the Froch camp aren't happy with. The Taylor camp seem to have a deal which suits them.

OK I'm putting on my Sherlock hat now. I reckon there's a division in the Froch camp, with one party wanting to take the deal on the current terms and the other wanting to change what's on the table. If the Froch camp were all singing from the same hymn sheet, we would have had a comment from then by now, either announcing the deal or ridiculing the Taylor offer. Whether it's a Froch-Hennessy split I don't know, but it must be pretty serious.

All pure speculation of course.

It's about a 2-3 hour drive from JFK Airport or Boston. Cheapest way to get there is to fly there and hire a car

Hello all, this seems like a good topic for a first post despite being a long time browser!

IMO Carl desperately needs to take this fight. He's in that all too common situation where he is considered a very dangerous fighter but doesn't draw enough fans to be able to pay the big name fighters enough money to tempt them to come and face him. In other words he desperately needs a big name on his record to make him a more viable option for the likes of Kessler and Bute.

Now along comes Jermain Taylor who it appears is willing to give him a chance and his team seem to be stalling and unsure whether to take it! And I know it should be Froch giving Taylor the chance because he has the belt, but we all know this isn't how modern boxing works! Taylor has the name, the credentials and the financial backing to choose to fight whoever he wants to and make just as much money as a Froch fight.

I really hope that Froch doesn't back out as I don't see where another opportunity to fight a big name is going to come from! If he finds a way to reject this fight then we may have another Witter on our hands, calling out everyone but only able to get small money fights against obscure fighters and that would be a shame for someone as talented as Carl. Phew... of course hopefully this is just a rumour, the fight will be signed tomorrow and this long rant will be irrelevant!

It should be announced on Setanta obn buncey's boxing programme.

I run Carl's site and he is a pal of mine.

He is training for the 25th and is unsure what the hold-ups are himself, but is not unduly concerned. There is not a panic that the fight wont happen. Mick is dealing with whatever the situation is and then we will all be informed.

Carl only concentrates on getting in tip top shape and leaves the nitty gritty to the promoters, which is the right idea.

After a ton of opponents pulling out on him in the past, you can hardly blame him either.

Given the on/off nature and ducking out that Taylor's camp have done up until this point, I would advise anyone thinking about the fight to wait until whatever is the hold-up to be resolved.

In other words: Wait till it's officially announced by Hennessy / DBE

waiting till its officially announced is exactly what we are doing , im a big fan of carl and hes from nottingham like myself which makes it better which is why people like myself are eager to know whats happening but at the end of the day this is a forum , so when rumours are around its going to be discussed on here no matter what , so yes we are all waiting patiently but we just want to know thats all .

This fight is a gruelling epic already.

Imagine if Warren and Calzaghe had tried to get Taylor when he was middleweight champ. I'll bet neither side would have got by the "I'm not going over there" stage.

Froch certainly needs Taylor. I wonder, does Dibella expect home advantage, probably a rematch clause, most of the money for Taylor, etc. Hennessy, obviosuly, has to not only deliver the fight for his man but get the best deal for his fighter.

I just hope that after Froch bashes this guy up, becomes a marketable world champion, that Froch doesn't become one of those awkward "Why should I fight X?" fighters.

The "I'm not going over there" mentality is a bit stupid really. Calzaghe didn't become a superstar until he boxed in the US. Boxing at home all the time isn't an "advantage" at all, it's a disadvantage in terms of exposure and profile. Headlining a bill of championship boxing in the US will make Froch's life from here on in a lot easier. If he wins convincingly, he may find Calzaghe comes out of retirement to challenge him. The only disappointment is the fight isn't happening at one of the glitzy, famous venues like MSG, but that can come next, assuming Froch wins.

I might be wrong but I think the "Ali Act" prevents the promoter to add a rematch clause in the case of a mandatory title shot.
