Wilder didn’t even try to sell the rematch.

It was Fury who was making more or a name for himself in the States after the first bout.

One that sticks to mind most is when he went to the WWE.

Wilder’s stance was that he didn’t NEED TO sell the fight.

No doubt DAZN will try and pick it up for majority of the world.

DAZN won’t go for it for the rest of the world. Will probably end up on Fite or they’ll do broadcast deals with some of the bigger countries.

Overseas broadcasting income/sponsorship won’t be massive though. May bring in an additional $1-$2m I’d guess.

It had 2 big networks pushing it hard in Fox/ESPN. This will only have ESPN pushing it, against another Brit who the fans don’t know and at a time in the day where PPV hasn’t historically worked too well. Also the week after another PPV.

ESPN does big numbers with the UFC PPVs but when did they last do 500k buys for a boxing PPV that they were the only distributor?

It's easy for us on this side of the pond to get wrapped up in our fighters, but the yanks come out to support their own in the big fights. Always have done. If this was going to be a big sell in the US then that's where the fight would be. It ain't.

Bob was talking 500k buys in the US on PPV. Fury is the biggest heavyweight name in the US but against Whyte who’s fairly unknown over there, outside of primetime and a week after another PPV I can’t see it doing 100k buys.

Once you break the figures down like that it does seem that Eddie’s 32m bid made more sense and Frank’s ego might’ve caused him to bid unnecessarily high. That said though it’s not inconceivable that Fury has crossed over enough to push the PPV numbers towards 2 million in which case everybody’s laughing all the way to the bank

It was never announced really. Eddie said it did well but Frank W was saying the other day it had only done 650k buys so who knows.

It’s not inconceivable that Fury/Whyte does 2m buys but I personally can’t see it particularly if Whyte isn’t helping out in the promotion of it. That would be a significant record for the number of PPV buys in the country. There’s rumours of Sky making it available on Sky Sports PPV which would massively help given how much time/money they’re dedicating to boxing nowadays.

Frank was asked whether Fury was getting his 80% split of the purse money and he was non-comittal. He said he’d only answer if Eddie told people what the number of DAZN subs were (which legally he won’t be able to do). Of course Tyson said he was getting all his money but I take what he says with a pinch of salt.

Was Frank concerned that Eddie would do everything he could in the promotion to favour Whyte? That the risk of Fury losing was too much, with Edward loading the dice as much as he could...?

Maybe Frank overbid to make sure the Fury express continues on to AJ and Usyk.

They are discussing his PPV share (or not) that's all. They'll agree and he'll sign. FW let slip he's prepared to have Dillian get some upside on the PPV share, it's just how much they are all happy with (including Tyson). Having Dillian actively try and sell the fight is in everybody's interest. Don't forget if Whyte loses (and he's not an idiot, he will know it's likely)that's probably him done in terms of mega money showdowns. He needs to feather his nest now or he'll miss forever. He's doing the right thing.

He won’t be paying Fury the full amount.
