Yep, Hamed didn't possess the mental capacity that the likes of Barrera had in spades.
As I've said many times, despite the build up to the fight, it turned out to be a routine title fight for Marco Antonio. Hamed wasn't in the Barrera's class.

I'd say because of the build up it was routine. That documentary on Naz in the run up to the fight is mental. You can't say that was anywhere near the best Hamed.

But I can say Barrera was an altogether better fighter than Hamed. Barrera had several gears to move through if Hamed was able to pose more problems...but he posed very few and was outclassed. A realisation that some don't see 25 years later

Hamed dodged Marquez as his mandatory contender. Claude Abrahm's (then editor of Boxing News) noted this on more than one occasion.
