The only consistent is AJ has never and never will be ppv in America. It’s world champion, not a UK one. Aj has sold better here until recently, I’ll give you that. They didn’t even dare risk him last time out in this country! Usyk v Dubois will get more publicity worldwide than Aj v Whyte, Fury v Ngganou multiple times.tonyevs wrote: ↑13 Jul 2023, 07:14That same website states:mickey1975 wrote: ↑13 Jul 2023, 06:14 Still, i guess it explains why Tyson chose to box Del as boxing him did better numbers for Usyk than facing AJ twice.
6 Anthony Joshua vs. Oleksandr Usyk – 1.232m
But .. I have no idea how accurate the site is, so it may be wrong .. it could be correct.
One thing appears consistent though is that AJ as champion sold a lot more than Fury as champion.
I am not reading anything that suggests Fury will shift any decent PPV numbers v Ngannou
Usyk is the champion, so it stands to reason his title fight against Dubois will get more publicity than AJs comeback fight against Whyte .. I not see what's so surprising about that.mickey1975 wrote: ↑13 Jul 2023, 07:29The only consistent is AJ has never and never will be ppv in America. It’s world champion, not a UK one. Re AJ, the Ruiz defeat absolutely killed him in the US.mickey1975 wrote: ↑13 Jul 2023, 07:29The only consistent is AJ has never and never will be ppv in America. It’s world champion, not a UK one. The only person ripping their shirt off will be Frank Grant.coneye wrote: ↑12 Jul 2023, 17:42 Whats this Lineal champ shite , Until Fury it was almost unheard off , . Its simple it s an exhibition or its not and if its not and its over 12 rnds Francis lands a lucky punch and beats Fury he takes Furys title simple has that , But then raises the question how the fooook do they get away with sanctioning a fight between a undeafeated world champion belt holder and a what is he a wrestler with a 0-0-0 fights in boxing .
Then they take the piss by putting it on PPV , Jeez theres some fooookwits with too much money about , I mean this one is so competetive and such a joy to look forward too , i've already set my alarm to get up early and go for a ride in the rain , and i'm looking forward to that more than watching the Fury circus , don't even want to see John rip his shirt off and challenge Dana
I agree. It is utterly shameful. Can you imagine Djokovic avoiding Nadal and taking on the world squash champion in a tennis match instead.Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑13 Jul 2023, 09:42 Still cant get my head around it, WBC champ and the second best HW in the world fighting someone making his debut.
Only the people earning out it are happy about it though, well them and a few obsessive fans.big lennox wrote: ↑13 Jul 2023, 09:54I agree. It is utterly shameful. "Yes, but look how hard the squash champion hits the squash ball against the wall. He is a big threat to Djokovic in a tennis match...etc etc"
This is worse, of course, because Ngannou will be getting hit round the head at will and won't be able to get out of the way.
I think this is one of the lowest points in boxing history. Still, Fury and his team seem immensely proud of themselves.
I wasn't talking about Hearn, I was talking about the Fury fans.mickey1975 wrote: ↑13 Jul 2023, 06:17No, there is a good interview with Hearn on the Ariel Helwani show saying what a fantastic match up that would be. He was really all for it.
