the first ever post from the username above on boxrec forum.

Don't really know what to reply to that.
Spud... A man I have seen at boxing shows numerous times, a man who prides himself on being an "arrogant pig-ignorant arsehole"(in his own words) who yes, knows a bit about boxing but has only ever took punches without gloves on when people have flattened him. I think Vegas comes to mind.
I can't really win by answering back to the criticism on the forums, not many fighters can. But the people that
don't know much read your views and may actually think that you're as important as you think you are!
Your views are so biased it's untrue. You slagged Tony Jeffries off for no reason other than inside politics and the fact he didn't waste his career signing for your mate.... If you really didn't rate Tony, then you need to take the rose tinted specs off as you big up one kid who's just turned pro, to be the next big thing when in fairness, my brother toyed with him twice in the ams and is nothing special at all and has half the talent of Jaffa. IN MY OPINION(no disrespect intended)
So we will agree to disagree. You made your point about what you think my "level" is... Everyone heard you. The first time
I take your opinion on board as usual, and I will leave you to your soap box.
Cheers,
Paul
Ahh at last a response!!!
Just for the record - I post on here as "Spud" - nothing else - just to counter your first hint!!! - please get the moderators to check - dont have to hide behind any name!!! - unlike others!!!
If I am coming out with the same old sh*t - the likes of you are too!!!
With regards to your comments concerning Liam Cameron - please find the threads and see what I have actually wrote - yes I am raving about him - I think the kid is handling himself and what comes with being a professional boxer extremely well and you will of course note - not once I have said anything about European or world level - I am stupid - but not that stupid - it will be fantastic if Liam achieves what you have - a British Title - where is the shame in that - another view point I have been extremely consistent with including comments concerning yourself.
With regards to your comments concerning Tony Jefferies - a top man outside of the ring - however - I honestly do not believe he will go beyond the domestic scene and there is nothing special that I have seen thus far in his performances - I simply do not rate him - if he proves me wrong - excellent - it will be great for him and great for British boxing - I would add that comment to you too - if you go beyond British level which I very much doubt - I will have no problems in coming on here and congratulating you - something that I will find very easy to do!!!
With regards to your comments concerning me - you do not know me at all - Facebook is where you have got my quote - if you look a little bit further on there you will indeed see a rather sh*t - in fact nope horribly inadequate performance of me fighting Dennis Hobson in 3 x 2 minute rounds where he took it gently but still made me look silly - so you comment of me only taking punches without gloves on is slightly inaccurate - I could be a bitch and state it will be the only time you will be seen in a ring on a big fight night in Vegas is when you are following your pal Ricky - but I shant!!!

- in addition if you are referring to the Paul King glancing blow - he didn't knock me down although cut my lip and caused an embrassing situation for Ricky, Fight Academy and all those who were there - I do have to say I am just wondering how you would cope get a blow from a lad almost twice your weight when your back is almost turned!!! - on your recent performances I would suggest you would struggle!!!
Another comment you have made about me in your post above - I consider myself as insignificant as you and many others do

- Although it seems there are quite a few on here who seem to come out of the woodwork when I cause a little ruck and there are a fair few people who seem to comment concerning this forum at the various shows I have attended - which aint bad for someone who is so insignificant!!!
For the record - I have no reason to dislike you, I have no reason to be biaised against you - I simply have an opinion you will not go beyond British Title level which lets face it - only a very small percentage of boxers achieve - you have achieved what many thousands dream of - lifting the Lonsdale Belt above your head - I simply wont agree to what is complete bullsh*t when people say you are going to be a world level boxer when you still have plenty to prove on the domestic scene.
Yet again I have read my posts concerning you on this thread - there is absolutely nothing I have written about you that I see is anything other than my respectful opinion
Finally - thank you for your response.

Its a while since there has been a ruck - lets start here!!!
The comparison you use concerning Sky TV pundits is absolutely awful - this is a boxing forum which caters for boxing fans of a wide and varied degree of boxing knowledge to simply give their views concerning the sport - I have stated on many occasions over the last 10 years - just because a particular poster may not be as intelligent as another - does he deserve to be ridiculed for what he has written or simply accused of not knowing anything about boxing .
I collect debts for a living - one of the punters on my round loves the sport but knows f*ck all about it, if that sort of makes sense - simply loves watching Carl Froch fight - but if you asked him to name any of his opponents he couldn't name one and couldnt even tell you what division Froch boxes in - does that mean he is not a fan and doesnt deserve an opinion??
I can count on one hand the amount of tickets I have paid for over the last 10 years - does that mean I know nothing about the sport, or as a prominent member in the sport once accused me of not being a fan!!! - F*ck me, I once had to drive that **** to 4 shows in one week!!! then 2 more the following and is he and others discounting the god know how many other shows that I have been too - just because I didnt pay to get in I know f*ck all about the sport or am not a fan??
But lets get back to this thread - Smith - regardless of what you state to the contrary - is not in my humble opinion having a pop at those who know f*ck all about boxing - he is in my opinion having a dig at those who have the audacity to state he is in their humble opinion only a domestic class boxer - it has in my opinion got to him - if I am so wrong - why mention the forums. Or is it simply yet another boxing personality wanting to use these forums as a platform to court favour with the fans and simply discredit or disregard those that wont bow down to them?
Yep, Boxrec does cater to boxing fans, which jars with your original rant about how anyone with a mouth, a brain (or what passes for one) and a platform can spout off about boxing. They can, but they can't, if you get me drift. Not denigrating Boxrec posters in the slightest, just the idea that people with no love for the sport are entitled to an opinion about the sport. People who don't love boxing or understand it or generally know sweet FA about may sit back and say, "Boxing is brutal, they batter each other using dead baby seals as gloves and after the fight their cigar chomping manager takes all their money and leaves them for dead. I think it should be banned." but that fact they've said it outloud does not heir little insight correct or accurate.
The guy on your round is what is known as a fan, as opposed to someone 'who have a right to voice their opinions whether they buy tickets or watch the sport on TV', not quite sure what that person is, a theorectical boxing fan perhaps? Maybe they could open a theorectical forum in which the boxers come on and beg them for insights. Good luck with that.
Your entire ticket para is nice, reminds me of Charlie and the Chocolate family, he never paid for his ticket either, in fact the charming life experiences in the factory set him up for a lifetime role as Willy Wonka's disciplie, fair dues...but I'm getting off the point here, I got lost coming in search of you.
Smith, in my way of looking at it, is saying that people are entitled to their opinions but that some opinion's are biased or based on a lack of knowledge and some are a little closer to the mark. It is a multi-faceted answer. Better than him saying, "Forums, they're alright" and repeatedly twatting himself in the head.
I think you've completely misread him to be honest.
Good response - give me time to think!!!

It will be bouncing on the night. Hope to grab Tony Quigley as well for the inside track so keep 'em peeled.
Not having a problem with the scouse accent then..... great to hear Quigley's view of it. I reckon he would have lots about it.
I'm really looking forward to Dodson vs Smith.

I'd pay money to see Craig Bellamy and Spud in a 2 man BIG Brother show
"Day 2, 7am.
Craig and Spud are on their 15th argument of the day, they've got over their 'you have got to stop snoring' altercation, the highly comical 'who uses the bathroom first' argument, then the particularly nasty 'that's my toothpaste' fracas, the 'that fcuking stinks' row, the 'do not use all the milk' rucus............ and now they've progressed onto their 'that is not how you make tea' altercation"

Hello Arnie!!
No mate - whenever I state this there is hardly anyone who can comeback to me with credible answers - Read every single one of my posts on this thread - I have not swore or insulted Smith - I have given my honest opinion - because I am not bowing down to a professional boxer who visits this forum al hell breaks loose!!! - with regards to respect to boxing and the personalities within it - everyone who has met me in person and taken the time to talk to me knows I am as passionate and respectful about the sport as anyone.
What causes the sh*t for me and yes sometimes but not in this case I take my opinions to the extreme - and that causes friction - but what really annoys me is the amount of times I go to shows - when people state you are only stating what others are not prepared to state for fear of being singled out - I dont give a toss - I will continue to state my forthright and honest opinions and just because my opinions "touch a nerve" - so f*cking what - I take more sh*t on here than anyone and I am still here - if people want to visit these forums as is often stated - take the rough with the smooth.
Perhaps most importantly - I will stress due to the diversity of the opinions on this forum that is why so many people visit this forum - in addition - have a look at the posts on this thread and in addition have a look at the amount of hits this thread has - then tell me if people are bored and dont like it:
Why read the thread?
Why if my opinions are so shocking havn't I been banned?
Why if my opinions on this thread are so bad have the moderators not edited them?
Come on Arnie - you have my number - indeed impressive joke you sent me earlier today - It seems its alright to bash forum posters and I have taken more sh*t than most but the moment you are from the sport people have to bow down to them or not give opinions that may be sensitive - to that I will state my normal - b*llocks!!!

Am i the only person on this forum who thinks Spud is speaking sense????
With regards to my 1st post i may have attempted to troll but look further into the thread and i offered some decent posts i thought, and Smith gave as good as he got & i even offered the olive branch and suggested we "put the handbags away".
Anyway i am entitled to my opinion and agree with Spud!!!!!!

"I can't really win by answering back to the criticism on the forums, not many fighters can"
Thats probably the most accurate thing said on this topic - since it has gone off the topic of the boxing (a pity as its a cracking fight potentially) and more about boxing forums.
If Paul talks about them in a general sense via an article.... then he gets the criticisms. If Paul responds to the thread at hand and every single criticism - then he'll get criticised.... have people already forgotten Frankie Gavin's first post on here! Funny some people who had a go at the critics of Gavin's post - are having digs at Paul now....
If Paul didn't respond at all, he'd probably get criticisms for not answering.

I completely agree - he offers his answers in a perfectly sensible way - dont have a problem with that at all - I also know Paul Smith as a person is highly thought of by many people throughout boxing - He writes well and I enjoy reading his subtle digs contained in certainly one of his responses.
Finally I sincerely hope Paul Smith - might as well include Tony Jefferies in that as well - prove me wrong and go on further than domestic honours although I will stress I do not see anything bad in having earnt the right to hold aloft the Lonsdale Belt - the likes of Smith and Jefferies have to get used to people offering their opinions and just because someone like myself doesnt think they will go beyond domestic level doesnt mean I am being abusive in anyway - in fact I have in a couple of posts offered my reasons why I do not think so. Its absolutely ridiculous that just because a boxer comes on here we have to grovel and if we dont we get metioned in interviews as being abusive or words similar as if they are some sort of victims of an internet campaign.

spud dude its not always about you mate, tho i state i dont see you have done anything wrong here, however it is nice to welcome a present british champ to the board and to hear his opinions.
Thats not grovelling thats just a fact. I also think Paul has shown a good sense of humour and good banter on this thread.
For my mind that will only get him more fans on here so again some praise should be directed there as some of the chlidish shit woudl be easy to bite on....this helps the culture on the board...its great Frank Maloney, Tony jeffiries, Tony dodson, Martin power, Richie Davis, Mr Farnell, Jamie Moore etc etc post on here too..again its not grovelling and you are quite right that you dont have to agree with their opinion just cos they are live and involved in the boxing scene. As a fan of the sport and british fighters and the scene in general im interested to coverse with them and hear their views.
As I am sure are others.
