Oh the irony ! My Allah comment was in reference to Christ this, Christ that, Jesus Christ the other in your post mate. You talk about god and i mention one word and suddenly it's more ammunition for you. Trap sprung.

Your obsessed with religion and racial issues. Implying its running through every person who disagrees with you like the words 'Blackpool' run through a stick of rock.

Running round declaring who you think are bigots and beating your 'yes, but racism is the issue!!' drum.

Like i said (again and again and again...) you try to label everyone who does not like Khan as a bigot or secret-squirell racist.Jumping all over anyone that goes against your opinion.

You cant post your own views, you just like taking to task other people's - and when you cannot understand or respect what they think you start declaring how they are a bigot.

I've tried to qualify myself as 'not a bigot' in my previous response - such was the offence i took at you trying to insinuate such a thing. Upon reflection, why should i have even bothered ? your like a broken record.

Irony - don't make me laugh - you think Irony is something to get the creases out of your shirt. I'll try and explain it - as a 'christian' (ie: some big Irish guy threw water on my head back in 1973)if I want to take the Lords son's name in vain on a boxing site then I have that right - I just don't see where Allah comes into it? Do you worship Allah? You might do - if not - why are you bringing up Allah? Its a simple question.

In Amir Khans case - there are bigoted views against the lad - you are bloody right they're are - only the most blinkered Anti-Khan hater would disagree. If you agree that Khan has done nothing more than Joe Calazghe and Ricky Hatton have been guilty of then why all the bile that is fronted against the lad? Is a simple question.

You have the right to like or not like any boxer you want - but when you come on here with the bile you come out with and blame it on 'ducking opponents' 'he's a crap driver' 'saying hello to his trainer' ' and saying he is crap! prepare for your comments to be challenged - and looking through this post - most people don't agree with you so your point of view is being challenged, thank God! :geek2:

I think what Khan has done is what most boxers do. Like football players today they show loyalty only to themselves. They will change circumstances at a drop of a hat to suit themselves and they have all done it whilst maintaining a 'man in the street' persona, if you can manage to see past that then without prejudice you have to admit Khan is no more a sinner than any of his contemporaries. I'll agree that Khan does not have that likeable 'man in the street' persona that the average lager lout can relate to but to treat Khan and make him out to be a villian and boo him is wrong - everything Khan has meant to have done - other boxers have done also.

Truth is always bad PR Spud, Is it true what Khan is saying? I think it is but others disagree, no-one has to like Khan - I mean there are boxers I don't like either - Sam Sexton, the Walsh brothers, but I will give credit where its due and admit that Sam Sexton (especially) has plenty you positive traits. Its OK to come out with anti-Khan spiel about his driving and his hand picked opponents and his treatment of trainers with your mates down the pub but to do it here where we have a clue - the criticism needs balance - everything Khan is meant to be guilty of - others have been worse - but you never heard the bile about them either.

Khan will now stand and fall on his own merits with Golden Boy - This is more a risk to his health and his legacy than staying with Warren surely? He could have defended that WBA title at the reebok and the MEN ala Calazghe and Hatton but with Golden Boy he is going to have to earn his keep or he will be out on his ear - thus he will be more active and against more dangerous fighters if past Golden Boy promotions are anything to go by. Will he succeed? I have no idea to be honest - it will be fun to watch though.

As for the racism issue regarding Khan - are you saying it doesn't exist at all?
Carlos!!!

Cheers for the reply :TU:

It is your last sentence which I have to be honest on - of course there has been racism towards Khan and I find it utterly disgusting that this has happened - I find it quite sad that boxing has this element to it.

Your last para has got me thinking and your points as with a couple of other peoples points are very valid and have got me thinking.

The reason for me getting on my soap box so much about Khan is the loyalty factor - whilst you and others come out with very good points concerning the promoter issue - I see no reason why he should slag this countries fans - you and others will say he was slating the minority - my view is some of the press reports you could have left wide open for a different interpretation.

Another question for you and others is - would have Khan been so hasty in condemming "the minority" of boxing fans and would he been so praising of the US if he did not have the rather lucrative option of going to the US with the attractive financial package that is on offer - would Khan and his PR team been so open with their opinions if they had to stay here and work things out here?

Carlos,

Whilst i think your response it more of a point-scoring excerise than a debate, i appreciate your stance on everything.

That said and put aside, I think you have completely forgotten what the thread is titled.

I'll remind you that its a thread about the reasons why Khan is leaving, written by a journalist, whom for the most part has been exposed by the lion's share of the posters on here for being a totally ridiculous article.

Many have concluded that it's more to do with dumping Warren, avoiding Maidana and lastly but perhaps most significantly the increase in higher earning's tax.

You find it somehow impossible to comprehend the numerous reasons why someone would think Khan Ltd is a joke and has run out of patience. Trainers, records, ridiculous press releases, calling out names but fighting bums.

I really looked forward to Khan turning pro. I was also looking to see him do really well. But after 50 press releases from 'bashing murray in sparring' to 'I'll help Pacquaio prepare for Hatton' or 'Prescott is a level below me now' etc etc - i've completely bored of it.

If Khan was a flow chart, you could bet that every decision would be the weakest opponent / most profitable route as possible. Not a desire to be the best or to fight the best. Purely 'team' mission for fame & cash - and that is obvious for all to see.

Spud,

I think Amir Khan must feel a lot of frustration to be honest, his loyalties have been questioned where he himself has done everything to show where his loyalties lie - everytime he has fought he looks like a big Union flag! At the end of the day he is a young lad and maybe some of the things he says aren't paticulary smart - he doesn't have the Ricky Hatton 'man on the street' persona which hides a lot of sins (In the case of Ricky Hatton) so in my opinion, the bile is underserved - just look through this thread to see what 'crimes' Amir has commited and you can see that it is all totally unwarranted.

Again - I think we all would have loved Joe Calazghe to go to America and beat the best or be in line to beat the best - what he did instead was beat up on Mario Veit some more and it was very frustrating to watch as this guy had all the tools to beat whoever he wanted in my opinion but Joe was happy to be in a comfort zone - all the way to the end of his career. Amir Khan is now putting all on line - I think his new career in the states is fraught with a lot of dangers and a lot can go wrong for him - no way can this be seen as a free lunch - one more torpedoing ala Bredis Prescott and its over for him at GBP - this is a big risk for Khan and we should be appluading him and cojones. Sure, it is a financial opportunity - if he keeps winning - he slips up and its all over for him.

Gomez,

What I could reply to your post has been addressed to Spud - but if Khan really wanted to stay in a comfort zone and beat up on weaker opponents then he would stay at home, but now he will have to earn his keep or else he is out. GBP aren't going to mollycoddle him and feed him weak opponents - so you have to give him some credit for going to America (where he has no real marquee value) and putting it all the line.

Khan isn't a PR mans dream and he - like many kids his age - says stupid things - but the bile he gets is not in relation percentage wise to anything he says and does - personally speaking. :TU:

As for the British tax laws - how many celebrities have left the UK because of that sole reason - even Lewis Hamliton (who is a complete hand job) even bemoaned his move to Monaco (or was it Zurich? Geneva? whatever :witzend: ) for that very reason? Don't even start me on the likes of Robbie Williams and 'Sir' Sean Connery.

To be honest, I've seen more quotes about Khan's situation with living and basing himself in the US (and the race card) from an agenda to bring him to USA or an agenda against Khan than from the man himself.

There is a difference between "I'm getting fed up of people offering racial abuse" and "I'm getting fed up of people offering so much racial abuse I'm going to flee the country".

Read the first article - no quotes from Khan..... if Khan's been saying it time and time again to journo's - why not any juicy quotes.

The article, although pro Khan, is making it sound like Khan feels he is being hounded out of this country - he aint and he aint said that.

From a PR perspective, it sounds so much better from GPB for THEM to play the race card - better than saying "Khan's coming to America cause he is going to make so much money he's going to swim in it".

My replies flow perfectly well if you care to read through them in whole rather than take a sentence you can manipulate.(afterall i started the topic). Secondly your 'lol' at millions of servicemen killed by the japs (an abbreviation) shows your mentality. I suggest you head back to AmirFans.co.uk 'lol'

You were getting more irrational in justifying your hatred as the thread goes on.. see the clever use of the word 'getting' , it means I have read the thread end to end. LOL at millions of servicemen killed???? Do you have comprehension issues or something? it is a LOL at your use of stupid meaningless rhetoric and I quote "...He did that for freedom of speech", cringe worthy at best. And once again it is "Japanese" not japs , refrain from using racist language on a public forum. And as for amirfans.co.uk, comment, well it was an inspired and razor sharp riposte, that's put me in my place!! see..LOL

p.s MY great grandfather died fighting in WW1, but for me to say he died for the freedom of my speech would be ludicrous, he died because he was a soldier, probably stupidly brave and this is what they get paid for with death being an occupational hazard.

Murray and Thaxton did just as much talking as Khan and as far as I can tell, they never agreed terms either. In fact, those two made names (or tried to) for themselves simply by calling out Khan rather than producing the results to force the issue, and Khan's trash talking of them was merely his response.

Furthermore, the only reason Khan's trash talking got more coverage is because he's the bigger name, and thus more likely to be reported on. Simple.
oliver, on a point of timescale i very definitely recall that khan made the first move re trashtalking with thaxton

from memory the timescale was, khan interview 'all these british lightweights better fight me now before i am above their level'

response from Thaxton, 'brilliant i'd love to fight him'

response from khan' 'all these british lightweights talking about me and trying to cash in on my name, i will have to show them etc etc etc blah blah blah'

i definitely remember he threw the first verbal at thaxton, and then made out like it was thaxton who started it all.
OK, you're probably right about the timescales. But my point merely is that to make a fight requires BOTH to agree. Consequently BOTH have failed, and it is only Khan who's criticised for "duckinh".

Now, I'll agree Thaxton was always a more valid opponent than Murray at the times it was talked of, and also that he did more to force the issue in terms of results. To be fair, I've got no problem with Thaxton and would have loved to have seen the fight, but seeing him struggle with the likes of Meager and Stewart didn't make me feel he'd have much of a chance in it (although of course the reckless Khan who got obliterated by Prescott had a chace of losing to anyone with a dig).

My issue is more with Murray, who at no time in his career has beaten a comparable level of opposition to Khan, despite being older and with more pro fights to his name, and yet the critics go on and on about Khan's ducking Murray, and about Khan's matchmaking.

Khan, quite rightly, drew flak for being dropped by a light-hitting Limond, yet that was a 20-year-old with a dozen fights to his name against a Commonwealth champion. Yet Murray barely squeaks past al-Hamidi in his 20-something fight and it's labelled a bad day at the office, which anyone is entitled to.

Just imagine if Khan had fought Hamidi last year! We would never hear the end of the "mismatch", and if Khan then struggled in it, well, his career would be pronounced dead and buried.

But hey, Murray's a nice bloke, a blue collar grafter, and we like his promoter, so it's OK for him.

What if Khan failed to make the weight for a title defence? I have no doubt he would be hung out to dry for his "unprofessionalism" and for the "lack of respect" he'd have shown to his opponent and the fans. But Murray does it, wins the fight, and it's all about his triumphing against adversity, putting a difficult chapter behind him, etc.

The bottom line here is that Mitchell is a lousy boxing writer. A fantacist who looks as though he could do with a good wash. His books, the one about McClellan and his recent one about the mob, are littered with inaccuracies. He gets an idea in his head, perhaps on the back of a spliff or ten, and tries to make the facts fit the hypothesis. This latest guff is not only irresponsible, it is also typical of what this guy thinks is boxing. Khan, rightly or wrongly, has been advised on a business basis. Those around him want maximum money. It has got damn all to do with race. And last time I was there, I found Muslims are not exactly flavour of the month in the US, especially when you get more than a few miles from the more liberal thinking coasts. So crossing the Atlantic make make little difference. However, if Roach can wuild a wall round Amir's chin, it is not inconceivable that he could make more money.
The Guardian used to be a decent read for boxing, but you get more sense reading ESB nowadays, and certainly more facts when it matters.

He took some flak. Fans tend to be understanding when it comes to weight. They only went barmy when it was Castillo pushing his luck. Corrales doing the same. Plus Guzman once again failing the limit. You could see that Murray had tried to make it and had done all he could physically to make the weight. Fans tend to go OTT at times but if Murray came out and said that his lack of chances was due to his white skin tone and the fact that white, working class lads don't have an edge in modern Britain, well he'd get some stick wouldn't he?
You're right about that, and that Castillo, Corrales et al just took stick because they were repeated offences. But you have to admit, you can imagine Khan would be afforded very little sympathy if he did it even the once.
