Dilks should be fighting someone like Paul David or Maguire at this stage or Anderson, build your way up, it was a suprise you got a shot at the commonwealth title although I do feel you should have won the decision maybe you could get a rematch.

Smigga in my opinion you look like you should have stayed at middleweight, but that being said
your above the likes of McDermott and if you insist on fighting the domestic lads then Magee and Groves are your only options, your far to seasoned to be bothering with McDermott and your ranking with the WBO suggests you should be focusing on more challenging opponents maybe a Zuniga or Balzsay, just my opinion though.

I know it shouldn't have like, but Smith v Dilks has just topped my most anticipated prospective match up above Mayweather v Pacquiao.

I can just see Dilksy walking into the ring dressed as a giant apostrophe and Smigga dressed as a schoolteacher to reflect the verbal spit-spat on this thread.

It could be a Boxrec sponsored event with the loser having his Boxrec account terminated. Imagine that! It'd all be on the line then. :box:

I think Carl is letting out a bit of frustration here and it has been blown up into a full scale arguement, I dont think he was individually calling anyone out and sounds like a fighter frustrated and desperate to get stuck into the mix and I think some offers will start coming your way now pal as this post as generated some interests ha ha I dont even wanna log out!!

I have always admired Paul Smith as a fighter and I would love to see you move forward when you beat Johnathon Reid and David Banks you showed earlier in your career that you can beat decent American fighters and came home and beat gome good British fighters to, people need give both these guys slack both good competent fighters who fight with their hearts on their sleeve!!

I've said before on the Groves topic, he need a few more fights against hardened, tough guys like Dodson, Quigley etc. and a couple more before he starts looking for British title fights. He is talented but what is the rush? Him and Smith are at different stages of their careers, as are Cleverley & Bellew, which is also another fight that is often mooted on this forum, so just because they are not fighting is not some sort of conspiracy.

This topic highlights the age old problem of getting certain fighters to meet and give the fans a clear champion to follow. Its fine saying the BBBoC should control matters via eliminators and mandatory challengers but basically if the fighters don't fancy the match or the terms don't ad up it just does not happen. Titles get vacated at the drop of a hat, etc etc.
With the current TV situation we are in the unique position of a company having a complete monopoly on TV Boxing. I think Sky have the power, currently to have a very big influence on certain matches being made. I'm not sure how strict they are with what they are willing to accept.......

Purse bids willalways get the fight out and with the situation with TV I really doubt any fighter will walk away from the british title unless he's on the verge of a European or world title ala Macklin, Barker situation. The likes of deGale, Groves and all the other 12st fighters who want the british title just need to eliminate each other, We have certain situations in every weight, Like I said the TV would get better shows the more eliminators we get, Groves Vs Anderson & DeGale Vs Dilks, Quigley Vs Dodson II.That will sell in Liverpool.. These 3 fights can all be made quite easily.. In the mean time the ideal fight would have been Smith Vs Magee but as we all know we don't live in an ideal or decent world...

some people like to take there time groves wants to take the david haye route to the top fighting anyone and i think hes that good he can. and i think paul smith knows he will beat him or theres a very very good chance of it happening(just my opinion obviouslly paul would say different) so i dont really blame paul for dodging the questions cos although he is british champion which means he should fight anyone in britain he would go nowhere near him he will say hes not mandatory so why should he? but i bet a £ to a penny he would drop the belt if he became mandatory and really hes promoters are doing the right thing keeping him away from groves so no matter how poop it is for us fans thats just the way the cookie crumbles

and carl has done nothing wrong whatsoever the lads frustrated and wants fights whats the problem with that? if all boxers were this willing FFN would be a lot more interesting to watch
I will bet everything in my bank account plus future earnings against your £1 that this belt will be vacated once won outright, or once I have an EBU or WBA/WBC/IBF/WBO. No matter who is my mandatory or how much is being paid to step aside like Brain Magee got, it won't go anywhere until won for keeps.

Tony Bellew hit the nail on the head with his explanation of my disregard for the questions. I have got this title after hard graft and slogging away doing 6 rounders on undercards. All of a sudden you go from a good prospect who not many people want to fight to a shit champion who everyone would knock out!
I disregard anyone that calls me out. Always have. Dilks, Degale, Bendall, Groves, Quigley, Renda.... Whether I like any of them or not they've all called me out and want the fight. You heard me reply? No.

Talk is cheap, they won't get publicity or jangle going from me that's for sure - When the fights are made, I will talk then :TU:

As for billybessey, now you seem to be an expert? I think it's a bit rich you calling people for 'ducking' as you say - I've seen your fights. People in glass houses an' all that hey mate? :TU:

As for Carl dilks, he wants to call everyone out and complain that he can't get the fights, maybe he should look at his own team, who turned down Bomber.

Bomber 1 wrote:I know why Paul is not answering the question cos it'll just lead to more questions and also why should he give Groves more publicity off his back, I know first hand that promoters decide exactly what fights are gonna happen and when, Just look at me against Ovil McKenzie?? Him and his manager agreed to fight me before he fought Billy Boyle only for his promoter Frank Maloney to pull him out!! This is just 1 example of how Im trying to show that the promoter is the one in the driving seat.

I personally have tried saying I'll box anyone at 175 and while I know no fighter is personally scared of me I also know it's either there promoter or manager that is directing them away from me, Put the right amount of money in front of Paul and I'll guarentee he fights Groves at the drop of a hat.. Groves also knows it's not easy to make, Just tell me when Frank has sat down round a table with a rival promoter when a double world title fight is not involved?? I really can't remember??

All this talk of Groves means nothing, Paul fights who his matchmaker picks just as Groves does.. Like I've said before it's the promoters in the driving seats so people who are moaning at the fighters for it not happening are moaning at the wrong people, :TU:
i am no boxer but i nw alot of boxers demand certain fights from there promoters. if smith wanted it bad enough he could get it

So the fact that Billy Bessey's been posting for years means he can say what he likes and not get anything back?!
Now listen, Me and Spud haven't seen much eye to eye on here but he hit the nail on the head. Fighters or ex fighters can't give stick out and not expect it back. No matter how good or bad they are/were.

I'm not having someone insinuate that I am a coward, then being afraid of looking bad for returning the compliment.
Once again, check your previous posts on threads concerning me - It's not hard to see that you don't like me.

Do you not see the irony in your comment there?
You're first 3 words are a complete personal insult, yet you call me it because you wrongly think I have insulted someone.
It's a good job you're not a fighter lad, they'd never find a brain in the MRI scan.
