good post that, Simonsimon fox wrote:it is obvious that Gavin has far better skills and pedigree than Curtis; the only way it makes sense to put the bout on is if there is 'bad blood' or needle between the 2. They may not like each other genuinely but after his last fight I thought Curtis was a bit tongue in cheek (with Frankie) and said that all the disrespectful stuff before the Bull fight was to make a bit more interest. To be honest; the lads on here looking forward to Woodhouse getting a one sided hiding piss me off. Do you not think that Curtis knows who he is going to face? Don't you think that shows some real balls? Frankie Gavin has been getting better and better and those who are saying he can't punch are comparing him to Julian Jackson. I hope for an entertaining bout with aggression and counter punching, desire and class; and get a decent pay day. With the right foil Gavin would look brilliant and against the right man Woodhouse can show that he is not a novelty boxer. Both men can come out of this well and if they're enjoying the smack talk; all the better.

Homeofbritishnobbing probably thinks that
smigga how about you try fighting a top super middleweight instead of fighting a middleweight ranked about 15th, man up
a fight between them was arranged, wasn't it? its hardly a case of mere calling out, here. if it hadn't been for the hand injury the fight would have probably happened.Bomber 1 wrote:

worth noting that Woodhouse saying 'don't forget about me funtime'- something as innocuous as that- was what started the banter on this thread. yeh, i can see why. i mean, its not as if Curtis and Frankie ever had a fight arranged that had to be put off, is it? oh, shit, they did have a fight arranged.Dioufy wrote:Is it too much to ask for a bit of decorum and dignity on here? Woah, Woah, Woah! Lets not get carried away thinking that Woodhouse is some sort of saint and Gavin a rabid dog incessantly looking for some kind of verbal spat.Counter-puncher wrote:worth noting that Woodhouse saying 'don't forget about me funtime'- something as innocuous as that- was what started the banter on this thread. yeh, i can see why. i mean, its not as if Curtis and Frankie ever had a fight arranged that had to be put off, is it? oh, poop, they did have a fight arranged.Dioufy wrote:Is it too much to ask for a bit of decorum and dignity on here? In all my limited dealings with Gavin he has been nothing but respectful and shown a real love for the game.
Even yesterday he was referring to his opponent for the Irish title in a manner that could in no could be perceived as derogatory. In fact they both shared posts on the same discussion and without kiss each others ass they wished each other well.
In truth it was all started by Woodhouse - and not by merely saying "don't forget about me Frankie" as you suggest - Frankie went to watch Curtis in Doncaster and after the fight Curtis went straight to where Frankie was quietly sitting and fired off a volley of unprovoked obscenities.
I respect Curtis for what he has done and his love of boxing but I think you are trying to portray Gavin in a unfair light when this was all instigated by Woodhouse.

it must be nice for the likes of you and Gavin where you are the touted fighters and you will get fights and tv slots and title shots because of your pedigree/background/promoter.
what are the likes of Curtis supposed to do Tony? just sit quietly in the background until more heralded fighters like Frankie are kind enough to throw them a bone or two?
lets just say you had been a footballer most of your life Tony- and i ask you this as you've always seemed reasonable and hope you take it in the spirit its intended- would you just accept that you'd never fight the likes of Cleverley or Frankie?
or would you try your best to have a pop against the best?
as for him getting exposure by being linked with Frankie- is that some sort of crime all of a sudden?

You need to take a good luck at my career pal, I've had virtually zero exposure, Any I've had has been very minimal.. Also what your saying is wrong, Curtis is not saying Im gonna win or anything of the kind, He has tried from day 1 to berate Frankie and purposefully wind him up, Calling him from ringside and also the rat calling stuff too?? Frankie didn't open his mouth to Curtis but he did reply, He's give his views and said he'd deal with him without any problems.. Now regardless of the name calling going on between them we all know that Frankie would take Curtis to pieces.. Getting exposure off the back of another fighter is not the end of the world if the fighter doing the calling out actually has a realistic chance of winning, Which we all know Curtis hasn't..![]()

Well that is my 10 pencew worth..
exactly. he didn't even make the weight for the olympics, did he? granted he impressed in the AIBAS. and while a win over mcdonagh is very impressive for a prospect (purdy needed two tries), i don't see how gavin should already be considered leagues above fighters like woodhouse. i'd like to see him prove it, and prove the many assumptions here on boxrec. some prospects don't even adapt to the pros that well, for instance the cuban - whose name everyone has forgotten - who used to fight on the same shows as gamboa and solis.J wrote:Autobarn I agree.
Id be shouting for curtis on the basis of this thread only.
thats my perogative and Im sure Frankie wont lose any sleep over it.
but yeah FG comes accross as arrogant and dismissive and I dont think that curtis is deserving of that. Have no problem with fighters beliveing in their own ability but some of this is above the limit for someone who has undoubted talent but has hardly proved he is in the world class bracket as he seems to believe he is.
Seen plenty with that attitude fall in life in general.
Just a lamens take and no offence to anyone.
By the time the fight could realistically happen, Gavin will probably be beyond Woodhouse.Autobarn wrote:exactly. he didn't even make the weight for the olympics, did he? granted he impressed in the AIBAS. and while a win over mcdonagh is very impressive for a prospect (purdy needed two tries), i don't see how gavin should already be considered leagues above fighters like woodhouse. i'd like to see him prove it, and prove the many assumptions here on boxrec. some prospects don't even adapt to the pros that well, for instance the cuban - whose name everyone has forgotten - who used to fight on the same shows as gamboa and solis.J wrote:Autobarn I agree.

and for all the woodhouse knockers, didn't gavin's own trainer get some decent mileage out of a similar style and from a similar level of talent?
I don't think I'm world class but I'm levels above Curtis an he was the first one who showed me disrespect but not getting into that again if the fight happens use will seeJ wrote:Autobarn I agree.

Not being funny Thaxton was a brit&euro champ at that point...Autobarn wrote:i hope the bad blood gets settled in the ring.
it has shades of thaxton wanting to fight khan, 2 guys with totally different careers. a kind of fight that only has a chance to happen maybe at one time.
i've not been following the politics of it, but perhaps if gavin and woodhouse cross paths for something like a british title, it might happen one day?
