Saw that. Awful. Seemed like he had no remorse either. Bit like the Gary Delaney case but Gary got 11 years. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... e-pub.html
Delaney who played up the Cockney hard man trope, "Dis David Haye?? Oi coll 'em the Pretty Boy...E gets roight up my nose"

Always struck me as a complete scumbag, not so sure about Mark
His name came up on a podcast with some old villain . He said most boxers were great in prison but Delaney was a terrible bully and had to be taught a lesson when he got to the dispersal system.
Yeah he came across like one of those "If only da Krays were back running fings we could sort this country ahht" types, really packed self awareness, watched too much cockney villain films

It may have been a Yammy B episode where he was asked about all the fighters who had been in with him. He rated Terry Dunstan the top but also hinted he was mental. A guy from Liverpool was right up there, Paul Harding. Brian Schumacher got a mention and a few mma guys.

@mickey1975

Didn’t Henry Wharton batter 2/3 lads who started on him in the Burton Stone years ago?

Or am I misremembering things 🤔

Not sure about that one. He wasn't prone to fighting anywhere, really, but things happen. He drank in The Gray Mare a lot then so same area.

Yes, I know Henry is a gentleman and that sort of thing isn’t his scene, it was actually Shaun from the old grey mare who told me the story, but it was a long time ago so I may have got some details mixed up.

Shaun probably got it mixed up. He did quite often in his drinking days!

I saw steve mccarthy get chinned by an 18 year old outside a pub. McCarthy had been drinking, walked up to our table and smacked an underage youth about 15 years old from the side. the lads friend, not knowing who he was, offered him out. they went outside and mcmcarthy started shadow boxing. not knowing what to do, this lad threw a blind punch that caught him flush and KO'd him. when he was told who he'd KO'd and the families notorious gangster reputation, the lad went into hiding for 6 months.

He's involved at Henry's gym too. He's around whenever they box. He will be there when George Davey boxes on the Sheffield DAZN show.

I’m mates with Schumachers nephew, he was supposed to have terrorised his wing and also his family when he got out. Sounded a bit like Sykes minus the noncing.
His episode on Boxing Life Stories is quite hard hitting, a bit like Sykes's interviews! It is said he backed down from Harding, though.

Had a nice little chat with Julius a few years back about his boxing career when I was at box park wembley and he was Security there.

He is an absolute unit his hands were the size of my head.
He comes over as being a decent bloke.

Yeah, heard that one myself. To make it worse, I believe he was with some lass trying to impress her.

The golden rule is, boxer or not, show everyone respect - you never know who they are.

Unfortunately, some kids today confuse 'respect' with 'deference' so you get tragic cases like James Oyebola.

Most of you guys are talking about scrapping, probably tied up with old school morals.

Nowadays, a lot of young uns just don't get it and will use anything for the slightest reason. Not that I'm saying some didn't in my day...
I miss old threads like this. Stretch also got ironed out by the Long Fella many years back, if the rumours are true. Been mentioned several times on the board to my memory.

Stretch covered this recently on the Ben Doughty podcast. Said it didn't happen like yesterday. Got blind sided by one of his people but not LF and didn't get knocked out.

He sparked 4 squaddies who were taking the piss out of his Mrs. This was about 6 or 7 years ago. He was like fooking ligthtening. The 4 of them were literally out cold on the floor. Could have been a very good pro but couldnt keep out of the pub, even in his late teens. Great streetfighter uis Bretty.
Brett was a bully.. had a small gang of mates with him usually.. if he wasn't robbing someone he was on a booze coke fuelled bender annoying people and getting barred from every pub in Pimlico and Victoria. Jail is the best place for him. Got done for manslaughter of some harmless Ozzie bloke outside the Greyhound pub on Hugh Street there. He's probably out now or back in for something else?? But he'll be in his 60s now and it's not the same in pubs as it used to be. Just because you can fight doesn't mean you have to especially when you go looking for it constantly. He was an addict that was his main problem, drugs and alcohol consumed him. Not much nice about him and not very well liked. But who's to say if he wasn't such an addict would he have made better choices?? Doubt it his ego was massive and revelled in his " hard man" reputation in Pimlico. Every pub barred him during a 30 year period in Pimlico he was a nuisance. Then in 2012 he killed that harmless bloke poor foka. Maybe he's grown up now he's 60 odd years old?? Joined an addiction centre and turned his life around??
