What people are forgetting is not only did John out fight Martin, imo he outboxed him for long periods of the fight and never gets the credit for his boxing abilities

Looks as though the reach is on for Belfast early in the new year. I think its a crazy fight for Simpson to take. He has nothing to prove. Only guy in boxing who has to beat everyone twice. Unless Maloney is paying well over the odds Simpson should be hunting down the ebu champ.

The EBU champion has a voluntery then he needs to fight john who's now mandatory.

Glad John is mandatory.

How strong does Simpson feel at the weight Billy? He really did impress me the other week cause at the start of the contest (I fancied Simpson before the opening round, but after the first 3 I thought Lyndsay was looking strong). I thought Lyndsay was hurting him to the body early on - then it was as if Simpson found a second wind and Lyndsay was found a bit wanting.

Just wondering was Simpson feeling those body shots, like I thought he was?

It was a fantastic fight and a lovely SPORTING contest. I think there could be some nice fights involving Simpson, Smith and Lyndsay in the future and it is great that all three seem like thoroughly decent blokes.

There is no doubt John's quality has improved over the last few years, he was always teak tough and had decent enough skills but there is a considerable improvement and you are right people
overlook that and you often hear before one of his fights, "that Simpson is tough as nails" people forget he is skilful and strangely enough possibly still improving.

i thought john won 2 of the first 3 rounds,Martin is a clever fighter but john wanted it a good bit more imo.ive watched the fight several times since and imo john won by 5 clear rounds.i personally think martin struggles to make FW and should step up to SFW coz hes got a big frame and would be stronger at that weight.

I think Simpson is a shining example of what perserverance can do for you and where it can end up taking you. Too many boxers get written off so quickly, but Simpson has stuck with it and repeatedly boxed the best domestically and is now on the verge of an EBU shot.
