Braehmer - Cleverly might be postponed. Enzo is being considered as an opponent for Cleverly apparently! :o

Looks like the clash between WBO light heavyweight champion Jürgen Brähmer and interim champ Nathan Cleverly set for April 2 in London could be postponed for undisclosed reasons according to figosport.de. The new date is said to be May 21. The possibility exists that Cleverly might still fight on April 2 with former cruiserweight Enzo Maccarinelli, who would move to light heavyweight, being mentioned.

It's not entirely inaccurate to attribute at least some of his previous losses to "mistakes", as opposed to being outclassed by better boxers (although in a couple of cases he was, though to be fair he was operating at world level - eg Haye). He comes to rumble, attempting to use his power to get fellas out of there early. In the process he leaves himself open to the counter, hence the majority of his defeats, Swaby included, have been highlight reel KOs. Even if this is a matter of poor concentration, you can still argue that it is a mistake that can be rectified. He's a good boxer, certainly above domestic level and therefore I think he should be allowed to go on if that's what he wants, provided he can make the necessary adjustments to guard against further "mistakes".

On the other hand, I'm not sure how the change in weight will play out. There's a danger that he's barking up the wrong tree here - the real adjustments he needs to make relate to his technique - e.g. low right hand when he's slinging. If he doesn't sort this kind of thing, he'll continue to get tagged at light heavy, and the likes of Bellew could take him out. Slimming down to LH could be a red herring for me.

Enzo Macc is a nice dude, but simply the most weak-minded and delusional fighter in the last 10 years to win a world title.

And if I hear "I made a mistake" once more, I'll come to his house and shave that silly arsed beard off.

Yeah I will be glad when Enzo retires so we dont hear "I made a mistake" and "career defining fight" and "I'm world champion".

One of the most overhyped fighters I have seen.

if he can comfortably make LHW then he will be a force imo. He can punch.

If the board have any sense they will block him from boxing. The ko's he's been on the receiving end in a few of his last fights have been brutal, and it can't be good for his long-term health. If he's deluded enough to think he's 'still got it' then someone should do the decent thing and tell him he hasn't, for his own safety.

He hasn't "got it" at world or even top Euro level. But he could still be successful at domestic level. So really it depends what his ambitions are. Some fighters never progress beyond the domestic level, yet they still make a bit of money, entertain people and get the glory of being a fighter. Maybe Big Mac should operate on the domestic scene for a while and see how things go. I wouldn't want to stand in the way of that.

All of those KO's would have put any of his oppos down too. He needs to tighten up, he has the skill.

no. I was 20 yards away and Enzo had no chance of getting rid of him, no chance of maintaining the pace over 12 rounds and Afolabi was just having a right old chuckle waiting til he was sufficiently George Foreman-ed to knock him spark out, which is exactly what happened. For the definition of "pole-axed", see Enzo vs. Afolabi.
Yep, Enzo got flattened. However, Afolabi was hardly doing anything before that. As you mentioned, Afolabi was simply waiting--he wasn't punching. No one ever said Enzo was on his way to stopping Afolabi, but he had him against the ropes and was actually letting his hands go. Enzo definitely deserved to be ahead at the time of the stoppage..7-1 or 6-2 were the right scores imo.
Yeah but to be fair a blind man could have seen that afolabi was just backing up against the ropes waiting to drop a bomb. which he did, Enzo should have seen it coming.
