I said earlier; what goes around comes around. Paddy will have caused some pain and broke a few bones in his time and he'll get it back now he's slowed down some. I dare say that more than a few of those he's battered had no chance at all or the dispute could've been settled a different way. Lots of the hardmen don't fight at their level; they're happiest hammering those who just cant fight.

who do you think is the "king of the gypsys" that many people refer too then. John Fury? Lewis Welch? I heard Paddy's name mentioned but I guess not obviously.

Henry Francis was a terrific fighter from all accounts though he must be getting on in years now; a man I know is friends with Joe Boy Gaskin and he is a very tough customer but he came up short at Appelby horse fair.

Bartly Gorman was the last true king ! he earned that title to ..none of the rest thats been mentioned has .

Pretty much. He reckoned he would be able to beat Calzaghe in a street fight. I quite liked Teddy's bluntness, most of the time.

I knew as I was writing it that it could be misinterpreted! It was just a gut instinct I had based on some of his observations - not a big-headed guy, but just got the sense he'd been 'around' based on some of the people he knew and some of his anecdotes.. had the ring of truth rather than internet hard man about them!

According to my father whose in his 60s ...he knew their father who was murdered ...my dad says wally was the better of the two but both could fight by all accounts , they both where much lighter than Gormans tho !
