Well, that was one-sided.
Rhodes was out of his depth.

a bit harsh, it must be tougher than it looks to box canelo.....I think Rhodes was game, didnt look for a way out, just didnt have the tools/gameplan

R12: TKO
Ref stops contest as Alvarez was starting to land heavily on Rhodes. Think Dave Coldwell was about to throw in the towel. Boxing lesson if ever I saw one.
I had it 110-98 at time of stoppage.

there goes his 'unbeaten' LMW record
All in all that was a quite pathetic performance

I reckon the old spice boy would have ko'ed Alverez.

Alvarez would beat any version of Rhodes. Even after getting pounded Rhodes continues to be overrated.

rhodes just not good enough.
alvarez discouraged him.
thought alvarez could have upped it earlier.
rhodes can comeback at a level.
moral of the story.
don't give out world title shots for beating a british level fighter in jamie moore. :>

Not sure bout that, but he would have had the ambition of youth at least. Every time I watch alvarez I think he looks beatable and his power isn't quite what we initially all believed.

Bit of a shame rhodes didn't give it a better go but he just didn't like the power from alvarez early.

He's definitely beatable, but he's very tough and heavy handed. The worry for any boxer fighting him is the return fire. Rhodes was wary of counter punches, so ended up doing very little.
A very good boxer, like Tim Bradley, Floyd Mayweather, Andre Ward, etc. - that type of boxer would beat Alvarez. I think Alvarez vs Paul Williams would be a very interesting fight.

for me no real criticism of rhodes effort.
alvarez too sharp and hurtful.
take chances and a guy like alvarez takes u to the cleaners.

Thats uncalled for - Rhodes was EBU champion thus deserved his shot at the WBC title. Simple as that.

Agreed, easy in hindsight to knock Rhodes but most thought he had a live outside chance.

Agreed. Jamie was European champion and was fringe world title level when Ryan beat him.

seemed adamant he is gonna carry on, he is only 34 but has had a long career. Still talented enough at Euro level if he is happy to carry on....not the type do get a severe beating at that level even if he does slide slightly

the european scene at light middle is a bit bare in the cupboard.
just looking at the boxrec ratings and only 2 other europeans are in the top 20.
rhodes at no20.

Rhodes was saying in the post fight interview he is still European champion but didn't he lose that and Konency picked up the vacant belt last year? Or maybe I heard Ryan wrong.
