some early joy for Haye but Wlad will ride it out, wear him down and stop Haye in the 8th

I've been watching their fights on youtube all night and now I'm going for a Haye win. I think his speed will make the difference.

Whichever way it goes I hope Haye shows respect at the end. Been impressed with Wlad throughout. They both looked great at the weight in.
I would like to think he'd show respect but it wouldn't surprise me if instead of that he goes straight into the verbals with Vitali who will have to held back from ripping his head off there and then!

I would love it if Haye backed up his boasts. Sadly, i believe he is all hype.
If you think Wlad wins, how on earth do you envisage Haye lasting 12 rounds of it?

Haye using the same tactics he used against Valuev. Running and trying to pot-shot, and frustrate Wlad. I can see it happening.

WK tko 8. Haye to fight on the outside with little success. I hope I'm wrong, I'm going a bar at 4.30am on the hope I'm wrong.

I think if Haye has any chance of winning he has to risk diving in, get inside and knock out the Ukranian early.
However I just don't see David getting past the jab because Vlad is too big and cute and I fear our boy will end up having and early night the wrong way with his chin letting him down at this level.
I have always felt Haye is frail in that area and has only got away with it because he is so good and always got to his opponent first.

In much the same fashion as he did against Valuev ...

Lol at comparing Wlad to Valuev. the reason Haye was able to last 12 in that was because Valuev was a lumbering oaf who moved in slow motion and didnt have much of an output; I take it you have seen wlad fight to know it's not exactly the same scenario?

Billy Conn and Michael Moorer: good calls. :TU:

I'm not sure about Spinks-Holmes, though, because Larry was further from his prime than Wlad. It was a great achievement, regardless, aye. Charles-Louis and Holyfield-Bowe are two of the best examples I can think of. But again, Louis was near the end of his career. Anyway, I'd like to add my final thoughts (as they are today - I'm another one who see-sawed about this fight; I previously had it 60/40 to Wlad):

For Haye to have a chance he'll need one of two things: for Wlad to be scared (Bruno-Tyson II), or to have amazing foot speed. Never mind power and hand speed, Wlad has enough of a height advantage to widen his stance and block Haye with his lead leg; it's what he does. They're both chinny, but it's much easier for Wlad to guard himself. I'd be Haye all the way if Wlad was a stone lighter, shorter and had three inches taken off each arm.

Haye does punch hard, but it's a shocking, plyometric power - the kind that stuns and knocks heavies over, but doesn't have the natural weight behind it to spark them. He has the physique of a bodybuilder, because that's what he is - taking advantage of a weak HW division. Except the Klitschkos are half-decent. And huge. Wlad's punches may be slower, but he's heavy-handed. I think Wlad could recover from a Haye knockdown, but not vice versa.

I see Wlad winning inside three rounds. What I hope happens is that K catches Haye with an unclean knockdown shot, and Haye gets back up in Nigel Benn mode. Haye's best bet is to be absolutely aggressive, but that's too much of an all-in strat from the opening bell. He'd need to smell fear.

Where did I previously compare Wlad to valuev?
I merely said Haye will try to adopt similar tactics .. but believe it or not .. there is a valid comparison in Wlad and Valuev ... size. And the fact that Haye will be expected to be faster with both hands and feet.

My opinion is that haye will run around the ring apron and once or twice a round attempt to land the big right hand ... much the same as he did with valuev.
I think he will be fit enough - and weary enough of Wlad to last the course,
Clear enough for you?

Breaking news on sky sports says they got haye's weight wrong and hes actually 14st 12lb. A fraction more speed might just do it.

you didn't get what I was driving at?

you think Haye will quote be 'using the same tactics he used against Valuev. Running and trying to pot-shot'

as i think riddick suggested above, as wlad is much quicker than valuev, replicating those tactics is infinitely more difficult against him. he is quicker, he can cut off the ring and shut down the escape routes more easily.

I think in light of the rain this is going to be a short fight. Don't ask me why I have come to this conclusion but I can see them both not wanting to hang round

Sub 3 rounds either way is my shout

In the driving rain, both camps agree to both boxers going barefoot, to allow a better grip on the canvas. In round 3, as the rain picks up, lightening streaking across the stormy sky, Haye turns Wlad on the ropes - Wlad is blinded by a sudden deluge of rain blowing into his face, Haye steps in on his stricken opponent, and ends it with a thunderous right hand.
The rain picks up yet again, and slowly the seating and eventually the ring itself, up root and sail off into the dark night.

Only joking, Wlad KO 5. :D

You've answered your own question. It would be more difficult than it was against Valuev, but it is a possible scenario. Plenty of fights have gone the distance that we thought wouldn't.
