An assault doesn't need to result in someone being rendered unconscious.
Exactly AlexY2K4, you dont even have to touch someone to commit a common assault in England & Wales, and simply touching someone without consent can easily equate to assault by beating. Both summary only offences (only dealt with in the Magistrates' Court) and carrying a maximum penalty of 6 months imprisonment.

Chisora's slap would most definitely have put him at risk of being arrested by Police on suspicion of assault by beating had the incident had taken place in England & Wales and a complainant to Police been made.

Chisora the woman beater takes a sneaky, unexpected, gutless cheap shot at a great champion and your moist.

Perhaps if vitali was British there would be less support for the classless hood rat. Sure, 'del boy' represents a part of Britain, but it's not a good part.

Yah, it's called personality & ain't it a bitch that some people's actions will provoke a "Awww" whilst exactly the same actions taken by others results in a burst of outrage.

Nigel Benn clocking someone whilst down = "Ferocious & brave warrior Nigel Benn etc"

Audley Harrison doing same = "Hang this cowardly reptile!"

I'm with Kevo. Fvck the old lady response the Klits bring out in some people, & fvck people for complaining about everyone not being held to the same standard when they are actually doing the same thing & excusing fighter A's behaviour yet getting on their high horse about fighter B.

PS: "Great champion" = admitted steroid cheat (sent home in disgrace from the Olympics, was it?) who has beaten precisely one foe of note (Mr Sanders) who was himself a semi-retired fat golfer & who has regularly indulged in "classless" bullying behaviour both inside & outside the ring.

See how easy it is to spin stuff based on getting huffy & appointing oneself a moral crusader? Or does Vit get a pass 'cos he wears a nice suit & knows what to say at a press conference?
I like fair fights and I don't like cheap shots when its not expected, if that an old womans view than it's one I share with old women. It's not even that there was any bad blood there, it's Chisora behaving like an imbecile and its being lauded by some as a masterstroke. I don't think it was. Imagine if Mayweather slapped Hatton at one of their pre fight blusters, the criticism he'd get on here would go through the roof. I'm no moral crusader, far from it, but I do have standards and that fell way below what I consider acceptable.

I'm ok with bullying in the ring, they know they are there to be hit when the bell goes. I'm really surprised at the backing Chisora is getting for it, even his coach Don Charles was clearly disappointed and found it "unacceptable". Must be an old woman too.

As for Vitali, he has beens a great champion and can take no blame for the fact that he (and his brother) have dominated the division to a point where nobody is considered a viable opponent for them.

I know mate. Didn't care about the fine as it was "small change" to him. Lovely fella.

John H Stracey:

"Saw what Chisora did to Vitali Klitschko the man does not deserve to box for the title, so very disrespectful. I know Vitali very well and he is very polite and a gentleman in the highest order. A true champion and the best KO percentage record of any champion there has been, I hope for boxings sake he beats chisora, that was so below the belt."

Old woman too?

jesus, who cares? It's brought some interest and excitement to a fight where there wouldn't have been. yes, it's unsportsmanlike but this sport has a history of this behaviour, we're not watching the bowls championships.

it's not on par with bowe-donald or barrera-morales.

The guy is a disgrace and like with Haye I quite honestly dont want him to win now. I see Vitali giving Del Boy a clinical beating much like he gave Danny Williams, but with Del boy looking for a way out after a few rounds, probably biting ro someother foul tactics.

I think that's harsh MW - if you're talking about the Byrd fight that was a bad, bad injury and he definitely did the right thing not carrying on and risking permanent damage.
He also went on to subsequently put to rest any questions regarding his heart in his display against Lewis.

You guys are hilarious - he was clearly trying to upset Vitali and publicise the fight, and it has worked a treat.

Incredible that these sort of stunts have been going on since Clay and Liston in 1964 and yet people STILL completely buy into it!

Chisora to win!

Yes you're right, I don't really question the big man's heart, just using that example of how calling a boxer a coward ( as many are calling Chisora ) can be very wide of the mark. Because that's what HBO and a lot of American writers used to hint about Vitali - "chicken Kiev" was one of his nicknames after the Byrd loss.

Chisora has no class at all and I can't wait to see him get the beating he deserves. I agree that he seems initimidated, reminds me of a little dog yapping at a big one. Vitali is a spiteful fornicator in there and I'm looking forward to seeing him really put it on this scumbag.

Why does Bunce always refer to Vitali as 'Vie-tali' rather than 'Vih-tali'? I don't know unhrainian but I thought it was the latter?

I doubt it, I'm sure he had a good view of his brother taking the uppercut off Lennox without going down. Can't see the slap putting the fear of god into him to be honest.

Wlad finds 'street people' unnerving apparently.

Anyhow the slap has probably created ten times more publicity than the fight was already getting and must have bumped up the PPV subscriptions no end.

Well done K2 for coming up with that little publicity spinner and when Vitali wups Dirty Del the villain everybody will hail Vitali the saint once more.
