Take it you don't know anything more then?

Insider old chap, I think what Dan Dares wants - seeing as you know him so well - is the timekeeper's explanation for ringing the bell at that point. What has he told you?

The reason has already been cited in this thread and others a couple of times. A faulty stop watch was to blame.

At what point was the stopwatch found to be faulty ?
It looks as though only this one round, plus the break that followed was incorrect - I think that all subsequent rounds and breaks were timed correctly ?
Therefore the stopwatch was either wrong twice and thent went ok again (unlikely ?) or the stop watch was changed ?
Was the stop watch changed after this incident mid-fight (I wonder what FW's reaction would have been if the roles had been reversed and he found that McPhilbin had been "saved by the bell" - would he have allowed the fight to go the full 12 rounds or would he have intervened somehow ?).

I believe after the first short round and interval the watch was discovered to be faulty and the rest of the bout was timed off the second watch that timekeepers have to have in their possession.

If a faulty stop watch is to blame then Enzo is simply the luckiest boxer ever. It had better instincts pn when to stop a fight than the ref!

He'll end up fighting Cleverly.
Shane can fight someone else - He should concentrate on that.
Anyone that watched the fight could see that the timekeeping was at fault. I'd have thought any both boxers will have learned something from it, Shane probably how to pace himself a little better when someone's on the hook and Enzo how to smother and grab until the bell saves him and he can have a breather.

I watched the while back and I do feel because of the timekeeping screw up Shane McPhilbin was denied an opportunity to try and finish off Enzo Mac there and then in the first round because Enzo Mac was all over the joint because McPhilbin was landing the bigger shots trying to take him out in the early rounds, he gave it all it but but he did not get the break because of the time keeping screw which gave Enzo Mac time to get himself together again and get back into the fight and from which used his superior championship experience to grind out the points win. Do I feel Enzo Mac should hang them up, he has dished plenty of knockouts but he has also been on the wrong end of an awful such as David Haye at the O2 bill and Alexander Frenkel on the Magnificent 7 bill.
As for McPhilbin, do I feel he deserves a crack at the Lonsdale belt. Yes perhaps he should but I think should have an eliminator to earn it rather than be given a rematch on a platter.

but if there was a screw up then he dont only deserve a stright shot at the title but to get the title back as enzo as failed this test. Am not going to say to much about it but shane as to train hard to make cruiser as half is fights where at heavy and as a amateur boxed at super-heavy. And he would of done the same test as enzo that night.

I personally think Shane should get a straight shot at the title, no questions asked (I have no idea of the time scale or gravity of the offence so won't try and pick apart the technicalities)
How is he training Clinton?

Nice one. I think anyone who thought my piece was 'anti Shane' is incorrect. I remember getting emotional myself when he beat Williams and he mentioned his Dad. I was going crazy when he floored Enzo. It was the 'win, lose we are on the booze' mentality (or public persona) that annoyed me.
His interviews and attitude in the weeks after the fight seem to show a change (hence no surprise at your post)
Good luck to him, I mean that.

Do I believe he was boozing during camp? No I don't.... Do I believe that he would have trained hard? Yes I do.
My issue comes with the fact, or opinion should I say, that conditioning is a long term project. You need to be a well oiled machine, a coiled spring.
Shane has never have the natural gifts that his contepararies have. So he needs to be the most well conditioned of them all to cover some of his natural deficiancies.
Having the common sense to actually stop drinking during camp isn't going to give you that edge, certainly not him. He will still be fitter than all of us on here, I am not calling him a drunken bum...but at this level he has looked knackered for 19 of his 24 championship rounds and I believe there are things he can do to improve that. Not being a big drinker tops the list.
All respect to Shane for stepping into the ring ( I refuse to postcript any article with that, it's a gimme0 but i think Shane has more in his locker.
And if he wants to win that title, invite me to the pub and tell me to feck off he is welcome!

I'll quite happily tell you to 'feck' off and you would
I go on bloody 20 days benders you think that makes me any less of a warrior?
When I stepped in a ring, licenced or unlicenced, to provide for my family does any of that matter? NO. I have such a will to win...
I'm Irish, brought up like Shane. He's a decent fella that graciously took the loss. People say a lot about Chisora but he was gracious against Helenus. He's a real man unlike yourself, a true Celtic warrior. He may not have all the tools but his 'warrior spirit' has got him to where he is right now.
Again... I'll quite happily invite you to any pub in East London and tell you to 'feck' off and you would... period!

Are you the biggest moron ever to grace the forum??? Seriously. If you fail to see that not living the life 100% can have a negative effect on someones career, especially at elite title level when people are looking for that edge you are beyond all hope.

Actually I had plenty...you just probably haven't read the whole thing.
If all Shane is wanting to do is provide then great. He can just go on the piss, get a pay day then move on to his next pay day. Journeyman mentality but journeymen get paid well. I am talking about the British title, the holy grail for many fighters and to give yourself the best chance you have to be a well honed machine. Not someone who just sobers up for a training camp. But I have no wish to go over old ground
And Enzo 'juicing' is irrelevant to the whole argument (Though this could just be a cold remedy, let's be careful) The fact he gassed after three rounds is nothing to do with Enzo, unless Enzo slipped valium in his water.

It is interesting that you think all Shane wants to do is provide. The camp (whose opinion I trust more) seems to think he wants that title. And he will do that by living the life, making the most of his talents. Not by the career path of going on the piss, but giving it a real go that you seem to think is fine.
May I repeat, his attitude since has been refreshing

Shane boxers to win he would of not lost nearly 4 stone if he did not want to do something. As said in interview after the Williams fight is dream was to win a British title and like most fighters who win the title he wants to keep going forward. I think ur comment was fair but like I said b4 he had a chest infection a week b4 and thats why he could breath after the 3rd round also is plan was to av enzo out in 4 which really in did but let's not go their again lol. One thing shane has took from the fight is that enzo did not outbox him fair enough he won the fight but there was no round where he was outboxed. Also let's not forget the fact shane only had two weeks notice for the Williams fight in is first 12 rounder then 8 weeks later he boxed a ex world champion in a VOLUNTARY defense that takes some doing .

Thanks. One serious question. Is there any chance that Shane just got caught up in the 'everyone loves Shane the pisshead' jerk off that was going around the time and just played up to it as he thought it was what people wanted to hear?. Things may not have been as ridiculous as what was painted (not brilliant, but not Olly Reed) but not being experienced in the media side, it left him open to the points in my article?

Shhhh. I'm sure Hatton, Toney and Mayorga have never had their career negatively affected by drink (or their longevity)
It is not just about training hard in camp, getting weight off that shouldn't be there anyway and getting back cardio that should be should be there anyway. It is about living the life...starting your camp at a great starting point, not spending the first month or two working off the beer and pies you have taken in due to a lack of discipline.
And if you only have a four to six week week camp, you are not giving your body time to reach its peak, . That is why someone like Froch is maximizing his talent. He is always fit as a fiddle. if he was the beer monster you seem to think it acceptable he wouldn't have achieved half of what he has done.
