As much as I love Johnny Nelson- you'd have to pay me to watch those fights again.
Then why do you love him so much?pablothunder wrote:As much as I love Johnny Nelson- you'd have to pay me to watch those fights again.

I watched loads of Johnny Nelson fights on TV. He combined quite cool moments, a wise approach and an admirable demeanour- in overall unwatchable fights.
He's naturally clear and insightful when recalling his boxing experiences, that's a bonus for television pundit.
But overall, no, I don't as such, love him.
I think Cosell began contemplating retirement from calling boxing when he was assigned to announce crap fights like that. Certainly not "Down Goes Fraz-uh!"Rover wrote:I have it, actually; ABC with Cosell on the call. Awful fight.Dart340 wrote:Rover, your memory served you better than mine. I was trying to forget it anyways. Luckily for us both, there seems to be no readily available footage for us to relive it.
What did it make Judah-Witter look like? Never saw Cook-Arthur, but I had the misfortune of seeing Judah-Witter. Barrrrrrrrrf!Counter-puncher wrote:the most boiring toplevel fight I have seen live was Alex Arthur vs Nicky Cook, for the WBO superfeatherweight belt i think it was. it made Witter - bradley look like Castillo - Corrales
Neither Arthur nor Cook were anything near top level.Counter-puncher wrote:the most boiring toplevel fight I have seen live was Alex Arthur vs Nicky Cook, for the WBO superfeatherweight belt i think it was. it made Witter - bradley look like Castillo - Corrales

i simply meant in terms of it being a 'world title fight'.loaded_gloves wrote:Neither Arthur nor Cook were anything near top level.Counter-puncher wrote:the most boiring toplevel fight I have seen live was Alex Arthur vs Nicky Cook, for the WBO superfeatherweight belt i think it was. it made Witter - bradley look like Castillo - Corrales
The Audley fight against that fat cruiserweight on the UC was pretty dire.Counter-puncher wrote:the most boiring toplevel fight I have seen live was Alex Arthur vs Nicky Cook, for the WBO superfeatherweight belt i think it was. it made Witter - bradley look like Castillo - Corrales
I actually don't mind that fight - I think it's a pretty impressive piece of boxing from Lewis who boxed beautifully, if cautiously. Tua's performance was dreadful, though.Goodnight, Irene wrote:It takes more than a left hook and a bad haircut to entertain you?klompton wrote:Lewis-Tua

Hopkins and Wlad's fights are certainly far from thrilling, but I've seen worse fights than there's.llabwons wrote:Johnny Nelson against Deleon & Warring are the first one's that spring to mind, but almost every Wlad Klitschko title fight qualifies and a good handful of Bernard Hopkins fights as well. Those boys really know how to make a man's eyelids droop.
Vanderpool and Holmes...yawn.gilgamesh wrote:Hopkins and Wlad's fights are certainly far from thrilling, but I've seen worse fights than there's.llabwons wrote:Johnny Nelson against Deleon & Warring are the first one's that spring to mind, but almost every Wlad Klitschko title fight qualifies and a good handful of Bernard Hopkins fights as well. Worst Wlad fights I saw were the Ibragimov and David Haye fights.
Hopkins' two fights with Taylor were dull, although the first one had some dramatic moments towards the end. His fight with DLH was awful, the 3rd fight with Robert Allen was dull as hell.
I'd say the two Pascal fights and the Tito fight are the most exciting he's been in, The Cloud fight wasn't too bad either.
Hands down winner!Adamj1987 wrote:you all lose it was skelton vs sprott 2 i literally fell asleep (i mean literally and not figurativly)
