There was a rematch clause in the contract with Thompson, although it doesn't read like it will be exercised straight away. They're talking about a summer comeback, so, like Passport Boy  says above, it will be the best part of six months on the sidelines. I think that's too long, but it's nothing to do with me, so that opinion is of less use than dog muck.

Physically the fight would have taken nothing out of Price, he should get straight back on the horse even just to fight a knock over.
I think he needs to be in the gym developing a better defensive style and that won't happen overnight but he still needs to be busy.
Fair enough give him 6 months to develop this style before he steps up again but there are plenty of keep busy fights for him in the meantime.

It depends on the people around him, as long as no one blows smoke up his arse then he'll do what he needs to do and move on.

Price still has titles, if Fury comes calling again then he should snatch at it as scalping his rival would be a huge step. Fury will argue that he doesn't need it, but if he doesn't get Wlad then why not prove a point against his domestic rival? Price-Fury is still a compelling fight, not as compelling as it was, but it isn't the first-time that promoters have refused to learn from the history of the sport and strike while the iron's hot. No wonder the sport is on its arse in some respects. Too many long-term dreamers in a "strike while the iron's" hot sport. Ali was in with Frazier within five-months when he returned. Sure, it built during Ali's layoff, but they didn't throw an extra six-month on top to build it.

If a fight is hot then it is hot, it should be signed. If that match-up's as good as we think it is then it'll yield a return and, in many cases, a trilogy.

People shouldn't shit all over Price, he got clattered in the ear by a huge guy and it took his balance away. It isn't the end of his career, by any means.
Quite frankly he needs to get a rematch on with thompson within the next 5 months.it was one shot

I agree but what if he gets KOed/beat again ? 12 rounds is a long time not to take even a light cuff up the side of the head :bag:

Defending his Commonwealth title against Neven Pajkic or Frans Botha would be a decent comeback fight.

I don't think price can drop down to domestic level. He has beaten all there is to beat there.

Price has to change his approach. I think pulverising people has made him forget his boxing & vuneralbilitys.

Thompsons punch looked like an arm shot to me personally.
He struggled with ingleby at that venue & I thought he was momentarily out on his feet in that fight were he dropped his hand after being caught & looked like he was sleeping on his feet.

Basically I don't think price can go back now

He hasn't beaten Chisora or Sprott. Price isn't above domestic level.

I dont think thats going to happen, Thompson said they "vastly underpaid" him, he was disgusted by the fans booing the national anthem and he would not be fighting in this country again.

I don't blame him. I've always absolutely hated fans booing the national anthems, it's stupid and disrespectful.

To try to make the event seem more important than it is.

Thompson should land a fight with Povetkin or Helenius after Saturday. I'd wait for him to take a beating from on them guys before letting Price anywhere near him.

I doubt he fight Price again; they underestimated Thompson big step up from a middle aged Skelton.

Hello leforge mate. :salut:

Fury's starting to look as good as I said he was. :bag: He'd give Price a right thumping.

i think Fury would beat thompson in a UD, the reason Pice had so much trouble is he doesnt create angles and wasnt using his jab (among other basic mistakes). Fury moves about and has a very good jab, he confused the hell out of Johnson and id say he's a similar level to thompson. Its always hard to tell how prospects will fair against a veteran though sometimes they flaws that can be exploited very easily.

It was only the week before you said the Johnson win was a great performance by Fury! :shame:

Which it was, the only reason Johnson 'didn't throw a shot all night' is because Fury
neutralised his armoury with his game plan. Johnson would have sparked out Price the
same way Thompson did if they had met. :box:

It was a good performance. I'm not changing my tune, I think Fury has improved and he demonstrated that against Johnson. What I'm saying is that Johnson was inactive, Johnson is always inactive, and Vinny Madalone? I'm really looking forward to the Cunningham fight to get a better handle on what Fury is capable of.
Cunningham is a tough one, because if Fury wins then he is has just beaten a cruiserweight to his detractors, if he loses then Fury will get more abuse on here than Price did by getting stopped to a punch on the ear. Cunningham is a live one though but Fury surely must be two or three fights away from the world title - we will see soon enough - surely by the end of the year.

Yeh you're right they dropped a bollock with Thompson, Johnson would have been a better fight for Price after Fury handled him well.
