It's a fabulous book. I've read 100s of boxing books and this is a real treat.

It is a tremendously well researched book and very enjoyable. The people that gave me the copy to read were from an Ivy league press and they were impressed as well which is why they asked me to read it.

And yes, it contains facts, something you probably wouldn't recognize Duce.

There is a lot of information in this book, but the Newspaper Reports in this book were 'selected versions' by the Author.

There are many conflicting Newspaper Articles about Harry Greb, that are opposite of what was put in this book.

I read the book and it appears to be very well researched. Klompton basically wrote about every fight which newspapers felt that Greb won or lost. So never did he only mention the e.g. 5 newspapers who had him winning a certain fight, he always mentioned as well the 2 or 3 others who had him losing that fight.

If only there was film......I imagine it would support the positive assumptions.....based on the majority of reports.

Il Duce cant name a single first hand source that I didnt include in my book so it matters little. The fact that the mods here continue to let him post libelous defamation are about to come back and bite them in the ass considering one of the servers that this website runs off of is based here in Illinois making it very easy and very cheap for my attorney to pursue a doe subpoena in order to obtain the names of the boxbuzz and il duce after which we can file suit seeking damages and attach this site and its owner. We will win against il duce (or his parents), maybe not against buzz or john but I can cost them enough time, money, and stress to make it worth it to me. All they had to do was the right thing and instead they chose to pander to the lowest common denominator.

klompton - you researched and wrote a highly thought of book and you've allowed yourself to become upset by someone who went out of their way to upset you. That's not Box Buzzs or Johns fault, it's yours.

There is a difference between letting someone upset you and letting someone get away with spreading lies about your work that can affect its success. Had Duce simply offered a valid criticism this wouldnt be an issue. Instead he lied and did so without ever having read the book. Let me come to your work and spread slander about you. No? I didnt think so. It was brought to John and Buzz' attention numerous times and nothing was done. I have contributed to both this forum and website, trying to be helpful whenever possible. Duce has never done anything productive on this forum and has never contributed anything to the website. He has been solely a disruptive force spreading lies, trolling, and attacking anyone who corrects him. He continues with the slander towards my work and so now Im doing what I have to do. If thats being a dick then I would hope anyone in my situation would be a dick. Its one thing to insult me personally, thats fine, but to spread lies about my WORK is a completely different issue and one which is protected under the law. Simply sitting back and allowing it to happen because you are entertained by it could be perceived as being complicit, I dont know, we will find out soon though. Anyone who wants to shed a tear over my response obviously hasnt worked hard on a labor of love anytime in their life.

plus - ive read many crits of books where the critic gets stuff wrong about the book he is reviewing. you're allowed in a court of law to make mistakes and very few critics of books get sued for getting some facts wrong. put him on ignore.

There are thousands of posters on here and your book has garnered very positive reviews. I'd be amazed if even 1 person was dissuaded from buying your book because of comments by Il Duce.

There's always going to be one person with time on their hands and an agenda.

Your WORK is important to you and a labour of love - it's a book to everyone else and most people have hundreds of them, I've got 2 books on Charlie Burley; one of them is hard going and not as good as the other. That's my opinion and on a forum I'd think I was OK to say that to other people; if someone threatened me with a lawyer for it then I'd think they were both insecure and a dick.

I've got the Burley book, it is an incredibly dry and tedious read.

That is opinion.

Though there are many biographies where unsavoury episodes are skated over or ignored totally - there are biographies that are written by fans and admirers and they are not always the most balanced critics or interpreters of a persons life and actions. Lots of book reviews in the weekends newspapers point this out and there are often different biographies of the same person and by different authors that see aspects of a persons life as more or less interesting. No one biography can be seen as 'complete'.

The 'other' Burley book by Harry Otty is very good and is a far better and easier read, in my opinion - not to be tested in court.

This may well be an unprecedented moment in Boxrec history.

I highly doubt any sort of Lawsuit will have any merit to be honest. I mean Klompton came on here in an effort to promote his book...well he didn't pay the site for any advertisement so I don't see how they're responsible if the free promotion for his book didn't go the way he had planned.

I've just read through all the thread; it was pretty friendly until page 5 and it's not all that bad tempered compared to some threads/posts.
