Does Fury have a contractual obligation to fight on Channel 5? I get confused. At one point there were some threads saying 5 wasn't going to show boxing anymore, so I just assumed he had a fight by fight thing going with them.

Keith, do you think Fury is personally under contract with Five? more than likely Mick is in a show by showdeal showcasing his stable of fighters? DeGale fought in Canada, Hughie in Romania and Five didn't pick those up.

I haven't seen the contract, but there's no way that 5 have Mick on a fight by fight deal. Fury was the reason they put boxing on 5, so he will be signed to a multi fight deal - I'm sure of it. That's the reason why Fury couldn't risk the Price fight going to purse bids. I'm not sure how the deal is structured, but there is no way that 5 are gonna just let Fury waltz over to SKY for the biggest fight of his career.

They almost let Fury waltz off to the states with no tv for the biggest fight of his career. The Five honchos were wringing their hands over it.

Not sure about that mate. They might have been late announcing it, but I didn't see anything from 5 saying they weren't showing it.

Not at all Horse. Why would 5 let SKY rake in all the PPV money, when all they get is the advertising revenue from the delayed showing. 5 will want the fight on Primetime.

The logical thing would to show it on Primetime and SKY Box Office and each side keeps their own buys. That makes too much sense though.

Channel 5 definitely 'accidentally' tweeted that they weren't going to be showing the Cunningham fight, then hastily withdrew that and posted that they were 'in negotiations' to show that fight. That would suggest that whatever multi-fight deal was in place with Hennessey has since expired or been repudiated, and they're on a fight-by-fight basis.

If that is the case, Hennessey would be in a strong position to implement Horse's suggestion of a repeat on C5 - much less costly to C5 than a live broadcast, and shifts the bigger risk (and reward!) to Primetime, who have more experience of putting these events on.
