Also you may not of heard that there are Irish travellers called Gavin's but there are, so you must not know much about "your own kind"
Has you said your educating most gorja's ( Gaja ) on this forum of the meaning, let me educate you on some of the most popular/biggest traveller/gypsy family names
Probably biggest & most popular names/families of Irish travellers are:
McDonagh
Docherty
Joyce
Ward
Kiely
Fury
Mcginley
Gavin's
for Romani or English gypsys it's
Smiths
Lees
Boswell
Lovell
Obviously there's more aswell but that's just naming a few:
IMO it doesn't matter what you are, we are all gods children ;;-)
P.S beano your a funny geezer with that story about me & Frankie
![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)
Also mrpedigree I'm only having a laugh, busting ya balls a bit mate

Cant say I know any travellers called Kiely or Gavin (apart from Frankie ;) )
Sweeney, Stokes, Myers would be more prevelant names in Ireland, especially when it comes to boxing.
it's Doherty ....not docherty that's the scottish one .
It was the Auto spell correct my friend, I know it's spelt that way

There 100's and 100's of both Gavin's and Kiely's in the traveller world. Repton had some very good National champion's that where Kiely's lived on a site in Bow (east London)
That's right Martin, obviously Slapbang doesn't know much, strange he's never heard of them especially seen has he's from Ireland. kiely are massive family all over Ireland especially in cork, London & Manchester
I live down in Waterford which isn't too far from Cork and I've never heard of travellers with the surname Kiely either. I know loads of Kielys but they aren't of travelling stock.
