I'm interested in every bout that either man is in, they are very entertaining. That was a good fight last night and they'd put on another good fight no doubt though Lucas needs to learn more craft and hide his power shots better; Garcia was underestimated beforehand and really proved to be an excellent champion; I'd like to see Danny v Devon next though Garcia v the winner of Alvarado v Prov would be another really good match up.

Alvarez was massive compared to Floyd but he had no chance!
After 3 rounds it was easy work for Mayweather!

Yeah palooka it is a funny sport However if II remember rightly you got it bang on and you had a nice little earner. ..

Pacs fall from boxing grace was pretty rapid... I can see him passing the rios test though and maybe the match up wihat everyone wanted Years ago. However mw is ageing a lot better than pac is...

alverez was too big on the night and looked slow and flat footed, I think the weight took the edge off him a bit, still don't think he would of stood a chance but I was expecting a lot more from him, thought he would have fought with more passion, just seemed like he knew he didn't have it in the tank to really up the pace and stick with it, the weight can do that to you :box:

Hey Curtis; I didn't think the weight had a great deal to do with it; I don't think that Canelo wanted to risk being dropped or stopped; he was shy of Floyds' power and unwilling to engage or force the issue so much. If he were boxing anyone of his former opponents with the same weight stipulation he'd have gone for it full force. I think that Mayweather showed Alvarez to be a front runner really, he was fine blasting away at lighter fellows (or with open scoring); when he was being made to pay for mistakes he was unwilling to really go for it.

It wasn't an earner as such, it's just nice to pick them out and I think I get as much satisfaction as a big gambler does, (and as much regret when they don't come in :witzend: )

I think you need to put intense pressure on him, but its so hard because hes got great feet, fast hands very fit and when you do get close hes impossible to hit clean, and people never go on about his toughness but hes a tough bugger as well, I honestly don't think theres a pressure fighter that ive seen that would of beat him, prime duran or chavez? doubt it, that style suits mayweathers style, probably somebody like whittaker might beat him but the list of people with a chance of beating him is shrinking, great great fighter, boxing is dead as they keep saying but we might be watching the best that ever did it, got to be right up there :TU:

Hearns would've eaten him. But he'd've made Tommy weigh in at 144.5 or something.

you wouldn't put your house on it, id see that as a 50/50 fight, I think hearns would stand a better chance but still I wouldn't be very confident

I'm glad you avoided the cliché "educated pressure" there haha

I think he needs to be taken out of his comfort zone and not be able to dictate the terms or tempo of the contest. I think he hits plenty hard enough but a combination of his sensible approach to his career/health and his brittle hands means he probably doesn't commit fully but I'm sure that and his sharp counter punching is what shuts people down quickly.

Alvarez got at least $10m last night, win lose or draw. Why would he take a chance and open up and "go for it" like most people are suggesting he should, and risk being countered even more and potentially even get stopped when he's not even 25 and got many big contests left in him? If he'd won, it's not like he'd be earning $10m in his next fight (should there be no rematch) because Mayweather is the person who draws the money.

He's not lost anything really, that's probably what was on his mind. Lose badly and he goes back a few pegs, lose this on points and everyone will just say how good Mayweather is and how he's a good few pegs above him so he's not lost any stock.

hes young and ballsy, I expected him to leave nothing in the ring, he probably wasn't even tired when the final bell rang, it comes to a point in a fight when you just have to say fuk it lets go for it, he never did that, that's what disappointed me, seemed like he stopped trying to win

Yes he has, the changing of the guard and all that - when push came to shove he did not grab the bull by the horns, he was more concerned with not getting dropped and stopped than winning the bout. Future contests should not have been in his head; can you imagine a 23 year old Olivares, Chavez, Sanchez, Barerra etc etc etc thinking about how much a loss would mean to them monetarily? He had one chance to win and that was pile on the pressure; when he got hit hard he didn't like it and didn't want it, he wanted it enough v lighter fighters and those brought to lose though.

Aye, but surely you can see why that might be? If he'd have got himself countered silly and laid out like Hatton did, where does he go next? They'd have to rebuild him forever, whereas now he can probably pick up a vacant strap in his very next fight and get back to earning some $$$s

What got me though (and I'm agreeing with you to some extent) is that he was giving it the "oh I had a lot of fights a kid, they called me freckle face" line and laughing, like he whaled away on kids all day long, but that didn't really translate into how he fights insofar as you wouldn't ever class him as your stereotypical Mexican banger.

It's like he's had some deep PR sessions with Oscar and they've given him this glossy sheen and beat the Mexican out of him or something.

Can't fecking type. That reply's to you and Curtis...

I honestly think that people gong into a Mayweather bout do not accept and emphasis how hard Floyd hits; they say he's slippy and fast and tricky and when they get into a fight with him they realise that they may get knocked down or stopped by someone they have said is a light puncher; they go into their shells. It would have broke Alvarez' heart if he'd been dropped by Mayweather so he stopped throwing. I hope he gets another title, he's a good fighter etc etc but if he's the best around to test Floyd then Floyd has cleaned up.

He will have Jose at his door tomorrow with promises of a shiny green belt, you watch Mayweather vacate it.

Mate of mine in the states reckons that Mayweather is deeply respectful of his opponents and holds back, when really he could probably stop a lot of these guys late if he put a little more venom in the shots. He swears he carried Mosley and you could argue after 8 rounds he eased off last night too.

He could have ruined Canelos' career last night if he'd wanted to.

Mayweather is amazing but the catch weight does take the gloss off it i agree with Curtis I think the cut took the edge of Canelo but he'd still get beat regardless.

Canelo misfooted a good few times like his body was reacting slow to his thoughts.canelo was feinting well & had mw reacting to the feints but wasnt following up.

Easy win for floyd

Yes!
Leonard would have caught him with one, just as mobile, fast hands but a harder puncher with a spiteful streak.
