Roberts Road was OK and so was BlowHall Crescent; they've been pulled down now I think. My sister lived on Roberts, her back garden went to Edlo wood.

Don`t think I`ve ever been to barnsley without getting into some trouble, plus I`m a lover not a fighter.

They would come over with their classic line looking for a bit of biffo "is thy lookin at me pint?" Gotta love the Barnsley chav after a skinfull.
Funny, from Thorne, Donny was the big night out. Did it loads in the early 1990's never had ANY trouble.. WENT BACK FOR MY STAG DO in 2002, got set about twice.
One lad emerged from a dark corner of the nightclub to my left, took a running leap and lumped me for absolutely no fekking reason. I'd been distracted as I was keeping an eye on the whereabouts of the fella dragged from the White Bear for trying to take my head off at 8pm.

"Sorry lads, we've got enough in from Thorne."

1) Yeah, you were definately in Donny.

2) You're showing your age; it's been called Reflex for about 12 years,

Can you remember the Kings Head, Magdeline and Bacchus?

Yes and The Gallery? Bacchus was not a regular haunt. We more frequently back in Thorne in back of White Hart and Uncle Arthurs in Moorends. Loved a pint in the Masons Arms too - best beer in town. What was the one opposite Marks' up from Clock Tower?

Gardens? It had a patio area out back; Masons has gone downhill a little; best pub in town is the little Plough, then Cask Corner on Cleveland Street.

Gardens. That was it. Those were the days............nightclubs were always shit but the pubs were always brilliant back then. Jammed. Took a mate up there in about 99 and he thought he was in Magaluf. We walked through from train station and this bird got out of a Renault 5 Turbo with a one piece short set thing on. We both just clapped our hands spontaneously.

By they were fit birds 'in town'.

Ah.....now you are getting close to home. My old man was a DJ on the NS scene in the 70s and 80s. And his very good friend Welshy ran nights at the Tavern off and on for years, Dad DJ'd there for a while too. God bless Gary. Never forgotten.

Gardens, many an afternoon session in there.

I used to love Oscars (note the lack of apostrophe).

I tried to explain to my brother's gf who was up over Christmas, that in the late 80s/early 90s you did not get a sniff of any nightclub action unless you were wearing a. shoes b. a tie b. a suit. Definitely no soft leather shoes and definitely no trainers. She just didn't get the concept.

After reading so much about it on here, I almost feel like I need to read more about the place! It sounds quite intriguing. Do you know of any documentaries on Donny or documentaries that feature the place quite heavily?
