All these forgeners come over and fighting our boys in big fights and it's being shown around the world, makes our refs look terrible

Ok stoppage for me. A little early but it was over. No point in killing the guy.

DeGale stops him... Can't say that I'm surprised. Gonzalez didn't bring much to the table and James was cranking it up.

There's a swinging right hook that missed just before the stoppage that was on the blind side of the ref, maybe Steve Gray thought it landed...

Comparing it to Froch Groves I is like comparing Susan Boyle to Halle Berry.

I think the World boxing authorities need to enforce respected foreign referees for their World title fights and eliminators over here. That's 2 tonight that I feel were wrong. Remember the state Tommy Coyle was in and allowed to continue on ffs.

Well regardless of the stoppage, that was the best I've seen from Degale by a mile.

That was stopped to soon for me. Yes Gonzalez was in trouble but he was still able to defend himself

For sure he would have probably won the fight, likewise Mitchell, but the refs just leave this nagging question. No way in hell would they stop DeGale or Mitchell if the roles were reversed.

Maduma had lost his legs but his head was clear, he was taking an unusual amount of time to steady his ship which was obviously down to fatigue more than being buzzed. Not the worst ever but should've continued. That Stoppage of Gonzalez was a joke.

I agree that the Ref shouldn't be from either of the combatants home country.

Don't think that any of the stoppages tonight were that terrible though.

Fighters had been down & were hurt & got stopped. I think too many people are on the "It was early!!!" bandwagon nowadays.

Gonzalez looked shocking.

Agree that they shouldn't have British refs for these world level fights, even if it just takes away the accusation of bias.

When gonzales was knocked down, the ref told him to put his hands up and he didn't. It should of been stopped there and then. He wasn't following simple instructions. The ref let it go (wrongly) to see what would happen. He got hit with some big shots, so the ref stopped it. I think it looked worse than it was.

The Maduma stoppage was fine but that was early.

Maduma was badly fatigued, which is exactly why the ref stopped it, it wasn't a case of him being caught with a good shot and his legs going, in that situation there's the potential for him to hold on and recover, but he was so tired that he was never going to recover, stopping the fight prevented him from taking any more punches when there was no need for him to take them.

The Gonzales stoppage was a bit early, but he'd been heavily knocked down and his legs had gone, he probably could have gone on, but it wasn't some horrible, despicable stoppage.

That is very debatable. DeGale was landing shots at will.

Agreed. Both of these fights are eliminator for World Titles, so they're very important.
