TBF he was fighting a good world champion!crusader wrote:Good performance but too many tough moments at the end for me to agree with that.expe wrote:119-109 Frampton, almost punch perfect performance from him.
Re: The Official British forum Martinez v Frampton RBR thread
Yes, but that doesn't mean he was close to perfect.

It's by no means impossible. Sometimes these champions get this untouchable reputation but Rigo has two arms and two legs just like Frampton. He isn't unbeatable and if anybody can do it Frampton can.

Define perfect at this levelcrusader wrote:Yes, but that doesn't mean he was close to perfect.

That's what I was trying to say, of course rigo is a machine but I genuinely think frampton is top top notch you never know!!!!!!
Would love to see it happen
Well done Carl frampton tonight

It may not be impossible, but it is massively unlikely. Good win for Frampton but let's not get carried away, Martinez lost to Munroe twice.Ian1973 wrote:Datsue wrote:Good win by Frampton, don't know what you're smoking if you think he could beat Rigo though, but I'll have a go on it, please.

It is of course possible. I didn't say it wasn't. I implied that the person envisaging it was probably high, based on the current state of affairs, because, though possible, it is highly improbable.
Riddle me this:
Has Rigo shown signs of slippage since outboxing the really fast devastating punching Donaire?
& also, Rigo would land a lot more punches with a lot more effect than a bloke who was beaten by Rendall Munroe.

Best post-fight interview since Tony Thompson sparked Price 1st time round!crusader wrote:I like this quote:

He does come across well. So many similarities to Hatton in the way that he will appeal to a mass audience.

I think Frampton might be a more intelligent boxer than Donaire though to be fair. Also can box on the front foot aswell as the backfoot. He shows a bit more diversity than Donaire IMO.
Re: The Official British forum Martinez v Frampton RBR thread
Great fight. I liked that Kiko remained dangerous to the end, but Frampton too good.

Aye, intelligent maybe but his head's too static to talk about facing the sport's best counter-puncher, imo. The moment he got tired from bouncing in circles around Rigo his head would be in the third row.lefty wrote: I think Frampton might be a more intelligent boxer than Donaire though to be fair. Let him shut out Quigg (without a year where they both fight bantamweights to build the fight, please), & Rigo age a couple years & show some slippage, then I'll start entertaining the idea.
Re: The Official British forum Martinez v Frampton RBR thread
Yeah, I couldnt argue against Rigo winning if I was betting on the possibility. Ps do you think Frampton would shut Quigg out or stop him?Datsue wrote:Aye, intelligent maybe but his head's too static to talk about facing the sport's best counter-puncher, imo. Great stuff. More than made up for a cack undercard. Very intelligent fight from Frampton. Constantly in control, gauging distance beautifully. Classy interviews afterwards too. Good on 'im

Ha, no I don't! I was just saying that if he did shut-out Quigg, then I'd be on the path to reconsidering my opinion on a Rigo-Frampton fight.lefty wrote:Yeah, I couldnt argue against Rigo winning if I was betting on the possibility. I think he'd beat Quigg, but I seriously doubt it'd be a rout.
Re: The Official British forum Martinez v Frampton RBR thread
There is little point going on about Rigo. they won't have Frampton go anywhere near him, for obvious reasons. he'd get beat, same as anyone. And that's no slight on Frampton.
A mandatory and then Santa Cruz is my guess.

Yup agree but I tell you what about Santa Cruz: good fighter but a fvcking cardboard record. His defences are cack on a stick, the next one's even worse than his last couple.
Haymon recently made, er, I mean Peter Quillin decided to give up his paper title rather than get a million for fighting Matt "Not The Scary Eurasian Middleweight, The Boring One" Korobov, & LSC's career path since moving to bantam has been eerily reminiscent of Quillin's "reign" at middle...
