Povetkin, not a one-punch knockout hitter, has managed to surprise with two nice KOs recently.

That said, I was not impressed by Povetkin in this fight; now entering his mid 30s, he is no longer a volume puncher and tries to box mid-range. Takam is pretty basic skill-wise but early in the fight he was outboxing Povetkin via a simple jab and straight punches (which Alexander has incredibly never learned to evade after even his extensive AM experience). Then Takam reverted to form with his wild swings in close, and Povetkin's class ultimately showed (and Takam got utterly exhausted).

Povetkin would lose even worse to Klitschko . . no point in that fight. Scraps with Haye or even Jennings would be interesting.

According to punch stats Povetkin has landed 48 more punches thru 8.
Inside Russia, judges are used to judge against the hometown boxer, even if he slightly wins. The hometown boxer always has to be convincingly better, unlike in the rest of the world indeed.

Don't delete, just lock, I often predict things years and years beforehand, and sometimes am annoyed when such things are gone.

This would actually be a good matchup if it happened.

Takam lost a close decision to Parker in 2016. Takam is a top 20 heavyweight right now. He's 36 years old, so not over the hill yet. I think it would be good to see a rematch with Povetkin.

Aren't you going to pay $100 for watching a freak fight between Mayweather and McGregor?

How can you troll about a guy the level of Povetkin, Povetkin is arguably the Best heavyweight in the world right now, #beast.

Not any more I think, but he was obviously better as Wilder since the day Wilder was born.

I sure am. YOU couldn't pay me $300 to watch a boring ass junky like Povetkin fight anyone. Remember that exciting Povetkin/Wlad fight? Boy was that a barnburner. To this date, it's the only world title fight that I shut off half way through in 40 years of watching the sport.

Junky lovers...all of ya's. Go screw.
