You and me both mate. With that £60k we could afford all of skys future PPV for all of the next 5 years :TU:

I hope Ward splatters Smith tonight. Disgraceful & unprofessional to be so far off the weight. He should have had at least 50% of his purse withheld imo.

This could backfire horribly for El Smiggo, Ward has never been an overly aggressive fighter, he's quite happy to go the distance even when he's clearly the better man, tonight after coming off a 19 month lay off he was probably looking to 'get some rounds' in and it's possible he may have 'carried' Smith, but now:

1. He's probably well pissed off at Smith for his lack of professionalism.

2. He doesn't fancy doing 12 with a fat, blubbery, b*stard who's best part of a stone heavier.

I think we'll see a more aggressive, hurtful Ward than usual and Smith will be out of there before the 6th, my money's on a corner pull out.

What a dong.
13st2.4lbs- he'll be above the old cruiserweight limit by fight-time. WTF

To me, it is inconceivable that this is an accident/miscalculation. Very poor show.I can't see carrying the extra weight around in the fight being a help -more likely it will tire him. Bit of a farce really.

I think he will come out aggressive, swinging big hooks for couple of rounds. The retire on the stool.

I guess Smith thinks he can bully Ward with the added weight, and they'll probably be hoping that he might be able to land hard on Ward's ring rusty chin early maybe, which used to be a tad suspect, as that is surely his only long shot chance.

I remember when Rocky Fielding came in over for one of his fights and he absolutely coated him for being unprofessional and undeserving of a fight with Paul Smith based on the fact he can't make weight haha

I've already posted this on another thread but it's worth a look again. This is Smith at 12st 7lbs, he can barely 'bully' fat lightmiddle trialhorse Tommy Tolan, so he's deluding himself if he thinks being heavier than Ward is going to help him in any way.

You're welcome, Oboh had been inactive for three years making his living as a sparring partner, he was in the changing room before the Oakey fight and in the space of an hour:

1. What's the point in fighting, if I win I'll only be inactive for another three years?

2. I want more money (Frank Maloney personally offered him another £6K)

3. I've got a bad arm.

4. God doesn't want me to fight anymore, I'm going back to Lagos to be a Priest (see below)

Me too,it's an awful lot of cash to throw down the drain in what could be his last shot at the big time.

Couple of weeks ago we saw Daniel Geale looking like an exhumed corpse at the weigh in for the Cotto fight and it's stupid f*cking 'catchweight' (should be outlawed) that poor b*stard didn't have an ounce of spare flesh on him and he must have been through HELL to make 157lbs.

Then we have Smigga, always looked fleshy as a 12 stoner, has talked about dropping down to middle several times (after getting chinned by DeGale and Groves) managed to come in 3 pounds UNDER 12st for the second Abraham fight, tonight he has an extra 4 pounds to play with, but unlike Geale who made a contract and honoured it, Smigga chooses to blow 60 grand and come in looking like he's just started training camp.

Smith has never had problems on the scales, I reckon this is his career heaviest by a long way. He is an experienced campaigner who knows what he has to do to make weight.
You can't tell me that Smith was too lazy, it's a huge opportunity, and a decent performance would keep him in the mix for another big fight.
My instinct tells me he is injured, couldn't do his roadwork and didn't want to lose the payday.

You could be right, never thought of it like that. Does seem strange that Gallagher only flew out there on Thursday, maybe he know Smith couldn't train right so what was the point him being there?

Dunno all seems very odd.

Geale looked like a corpse and performed like one.

Smith is letting Ward know that he doesn't give a fornicate about his stipulations. Geale should have done the same with Cotto. Let Cotto call off the fight and explain to his legions of fans that he is not fighting and they will have wasted money on flights/hotels etc, all because his opponent didn't drain and weaken himself.

I love the idea of the "B side" of the catchweight saying fornicate you to the "A side" and coming in at a higher weight.

So fari play to Smith I say. He's still taking a hiding though.

Maybe it is saying eff you to Ward's contract stipulations, but that's why you sign the contract in the first place.

Boxing has to eventually be ruled by one governing body, if you think FIFA was corrupt.....

You really think that Smith is giving away all that money just to let Ward know that he doesn't care about the stipulations? Seems unlikely to me, especially given that the CW was set at a number several pounds higher than what Smith typically weighs (so nothing like Geale having to get down to 157).

Seems even more unlikely considering Smith made 168 in his last two fights. Why would 172 be any trouble?

Edit. Should have fully read your comment, as you said exactly what I just did.
