Yes, that's the way I see it. Fury has to keep the shots coming, be prepared to get hit back hard, and stick to the game plan, in the hope that he can push Wlad hard enough to cause his stamina to go.Datsue wrote:mickey1975 wrote:It's a huge ask, we've known that all along. I'm so on the fence about this one... At first glance you think "Naaah mate, no chance" but then you think about Fury's development over the last few years--learning how to maul & hold (a must for any massive heavyweight in today's era), his increasing ability to fight southpaw (Corrie Sanders would like to say "Hello!")--& combine it with his frankly astonishing mobility & handspeed for such a big lump, & I start to ponder...
Also, you've got to take into account how Klitschko fights against big guys: he is content to sit in a jabbing contest, move laterally around the outside & wait for his sparingly delivered but heavier artillery to wear guys down. Wach, Thompson, McCline, these dudes couldn't keep up a high enough workrate to counteract the force of the shots coming back at them (or weren't willing to accept the increased punishment striving to do so would open them up for), but none of them were as big as Fury or imo as quick.
Despite what people are saying, I don't think a gung-ho, KO-the-bastard approach is a good idea, Wlad loves it when you charge to him (look at the mess he made of Pulev, who got carried away after his initial success & was basically fvcked after getting hit with that first big left hook). But if (enormous if) Fury can maintain the workrate in the face of getting hit & hurt more than anyone's ever hit & hurt him before, & it goes some rounds, then Klitschko might start to look like a dude pushing forty... & then, who knows?
Also, Tyson's not the only one fond of uppercutting himself in the mooey:
He has though, so you are wrong.funso banjo baby wrote:Fury hasnt fought any top ranked fighter.

Have you watched him fight at all in the last decade?ALI wrote:Fury is going to get hammered. He might be taller than Klit but does not use his height all that well, Klit will win the battle of jabs easy, he will keep Fury on the backfoot most of the night. I expect Klit to fight aggressively from the get go, pushing Fury back, sticking him with stiff powerful jabs and hard right hands. I cannot see anyway in which Fury wins, i will be surprised if he is even somehwat competative. If he makes it to the final bell that will be a small victory in itself IMO cause he is getting mullered in this fight, no doubt about it IMO.
Betway go 6/5 on Klit to win by KO or disqualification - you know it makes sense.
Yes, all of them, name me one where he was not the agressor, i bet you cant. You may not like his style but he always presses the action, and with a big gangly lump like Fury he will be more aggressive than normal IMO, i wont be surprised at all if he stops him within 4 rounds.expe wrote:Have you watched him fight at all in the last decade?ALI wrote:Fury is going to get hammered. If you've actually watched him then you'd know he won't come out aggressively, usually takes him a couple of rounds before he throws anything other than the jab and the occasional right hand. He's taken out two opponents inside 4 rounds in a decade, Mormeck, a shot cruiserweight and Ray Austin back in 2007. Even Pianeta and Leapai lasted longer than that, unless Fury comes out and goes for him he'll go at least 7-8 rounds. Wlad is about as cautious as they come, especially early on, he doesn't take risks, the idea of taking one to land one doesn't even cross his mind.ALI wrote:Yes, all of them, name me one where he was not the agressor, i bet you cant. Go watch the first round of Klitschko v Wach, then come back and apologise.expe wrote:If you've actually watched him then you'd know he won't come out aggressively, usually takes him a couple of rounds before he throws anything other than the jab and the occasional right hand. He wont change that. Wlad will hold the centre of the ring. Wlad will dictate the pace.keithmoonhangover wrote:One of the things Wlad does best is to make the fight happen at his pace, while taking the middle of the ring.
I really think Fury will struggle to change that.
If that happens, Fury's won't be able to beat Wlad unless he puts him on the floor.ALI wrote:He wont change that. Wlad will hold the centre of the ring. i have an image in my mind of 7 vest-clad gypsies mob-tackling Wlad post-fight (there will be one solitary voice in the background shouting 'it was a straight go now, boys, fair play now boys')keithmoonhangover wrote:

mike john wrote:far as british boxing goes, this is a huge event, but in reality, this fight is close to a mis-match. discarding the purrity loss, the only fighters to trouble wlad have been big punchers. but even they couldnt keep him down with one shot. nothing tyson does, or has ever shown to do, will remotely bother the champion, and fury has been put over by far lesser punchers than klitschko. wlads stamina issues are an issue no longer, and i see no possible way fury can be competitive, let alone win.
klitschko rounds 4-6 ko. id go for furys corner to pull him out early, but i can see a one punch finish here.

For a big guy who cant really fight on the inside he has done well. I'm a bit of both in that the era is poor but he has done well to be champ for so long.stevieb_8006 wrote:It's interesting how wlad was once viewed as so fragile and mentally shot after Saunders and Brewster. I think he's an old 26 though. On average, it's young for a sportsman but i think he's one of those that will age faster. Purely my own opinion and not based on anything other than a hunch and the assumption that he's been around his size since at least 13/14ThereByTheGrace wrote:For a big guy who cant really fight on the inside he has done well. Fury is up against it in Germany but he has as good a chance as those before him. If he loses narrowly he will be back bigger and better. He's only 26 I think still a baby!
