Opponent to be announced either weekend or early next week, and press conference Thursday 4th February. Apparently Joshua's opponent will be there at the conference. Chisora not front runner, although if they want the fight, he can have it, comes down to how much money they want to take. But Hearn sounds confident that it'll be one of Jennings/Stiverne.

Mark de Mori on PPV, with a stacked undercard.

I'm putting my money on Jennings. Maybe this list should contain more actual potentials...? Duhaupas? Jennings?

Hughie Fury and Eddie Chambers are a step in the wrong direction and Helenius seems to be moving in the opposite direction also.

Thursday is the announcement hopefully. Haye has an announcement tomorrow and apparently Jennings is in the running for that too.
Jennings is coming off 2 losses, yes to top guys but still coming off 2 losses. Will this be a PPV?
Would you say Jennings is the superior boxer? Itll be a tough fight.

Its a strange one for AJ, if he jumps over too many people too early he leaves a lot of money on the table...

Apparently the undercard is going to be stacked, even better than December 12, so I'd be very surprised if it wasn't PPV. It just sells too much for it not to be PPV. Jennings has come off the back off two defeats, but they were against Klitchko and Ortiz, so nothing to be sniffed at. It still demonstrates a definite step up in class. If he blows him away, I think it will really deliver Joshua on the world scene!

If he blows Jennings away in quicker fashion than Ortiz (who many are already crowning as Champion in waiting) then that will really make a statement.

Would be an interesting challenge though, Jennings is a slick operator.

Now Eddie has lost out on the Khan/Brook money I wonder if he'll now push Joshua on a bit quicker to make up for it.

I doubt it. The fight will still be a step up, but he identifies that AJ is a massive cash cow and won't put all his chips on him just yet. Sounds like it'll be someone from the States as Hearn mentioned they'd need to 'fly over the fighter' for the presser. I know that can potentially mean anywhere as we're an island, but they'd only say that if it was a long haul flight! Not Europe!

Haye thinks Takam is a very tough bout for Joshua.

I agree Takam is too risky. My money is on Duhaupas.

I would consider Eddie Chambers for the next fight. He seems to be eager to fight someone and he is pretty beatable IMO.

Big step up if he fights Takam, hope its him but beginning to think not. With the announcement for tomorrow seemingly gone quiet, I am thinking with Duhaupas having a meaningless fight on Friday that it probably is him, with the announcement possibly being Monday.

Not Duhaupas as he fights Helenius, if they go straight to Takam, thats a decent opponent for Joshua

Takam is a similair stye to Chisora and a cheaper option but wont sell as many PPVs as Del Boy.
I think Hearn should have paid up and took Chisoras name and european title...

Similar to Chisora was my first thought too. Will come out of the blocks fast but you know he's just going to cover up, bob around and try and get close enough to throw bombs.

There are better options out there but it's another step up and lines him up for an IBF title shot in the summer (Wembley??)

The thing that worries me about this opponent is that Hearn has been very quiet re the announcement, he normally blows the trumpet long and loud we are getting more about the Darts than Joshua's April 9th date. I wonder if he knows we will be less than impressed with the opponent. I think it will tell us if the Whyte performance has put any doubts in there mind about the march towards a world title.

Very strange Chisora turning down 750k and accepting 100k to fight Pulev (if those figures are correct of course). Still we are not privvy to the behind the scenes chats with Haymon etc perhaps the Martin fight is there for later in the year and it will be smoother waters until then.

Strange nothing has leaked out if it's today, no sightings of Shannon Briggs doing his hair in the west end ready for the press conference, that type of thing. :stop:

Chisora didn't turn down 750k, he turned down 300k from what I heard

As I said you never know what to believe, I would think quite possibly your figure is closer than the one quoted in the story above but who knows
