Khan's a different fighter at this weight. He's not sucked down and he's got a better chin because he's not worn down from using the whole training camp to lose weight. Yeah, he almost got beaten by Algieri but I think he took that bout VERY lightly. He'll come in prepared and give Canelo a great test. I honestly think so and if he can avoid the knockout, which will be tough because Canelo's also gotten a lot better, then I think it's going to be a tight decision that he could win.
Maybe I'm wrong. I'm in the minority for sure so I understand where you all are coming from. But it will definitely be a great night either way you look at it. That I'm sure of.
Khan hasn't been at welterweight long and isn't big for the weight. As for that making his chin better, you based that on...?
He's not big for a Welterweight but making 140 was killing the kid and it was evident in a lot of his fights notoriously fading badly in those fights. I was an Div 1 -NCAA Wrestler and know way more than I want to know about sucking weight and the effects it has physiologically to the body and performance in combat sports. Scientifically, i could explain my case but you'd fall asleep. But the easiest and quickest factor is simply, reaction time is slowed with drastic water weight loss. Couple that with a depleted body fatiguing faster than a healthy one. In a sport like boxing and with Khan's history in the ring, it's the difference between have the ability to #1 avoid a punch and #2 having a healthy body to withstand it.
Go back and look at Khan's fights since moving up. 140 pound fighters were giving Khan spaghetti legs in every fight pretty much but he hasn't been buzzed once since moving up and facing larger opposition. That's probably the best proof.
Khan hasn't been buzzed once? I guess you must not have watched Julio Diaz put him on his ass, or Collazo and Algieri having him buzzed. None of the three are big punchers. He has gotten better mostly due to Hunter helping him stay in a position where he sees most punches coming and being better at holding. His offense, however, has gotten worse imo. Khan blames his weak chin on his weight and if that doesn't work, its the trainer's fault...its never him.

I said Khan wasn't buzzed at 147 yet. Watch the Collazo and Algieri fights again and let me know exactly when Khan was buzzed or in danger of being knocked down. He dominated Collazo in each and every round. Are you just talking about a punch that landed flush on him? IS that your definition of buzzed? At 140, Khan was buzzed in every single fight and limped to the final bell in all of them with spaghetti legs. I've seen none of that at 147, not once. And, your Diaz reference makes no sense because the fight was at 142 I believe so not even sure why you mention it.
Khan's a dick and he does blame everyone for his losses and shortcomings. Not saying I like the man but I do enjoy every one of his fights because he's never been in a boring one that I've seen. He's entertaining. A dick, but entertaining. And the Canelo fight will be remembered as a classic, mark my words.

it was khan that set the 142 catchweight with diaz. diaz had just fought porter and two other guys
at 147 and was hardly making demands that khan fight at 142. you are straight up pulling stuff
out of your ass talking about the pysio-psychological bla bla of making weight and reaction
time in reference to khan. khan kept his right low during inside exchanges and was timed perfectly
by garcia's left hooks and he got wrecked and lost a close one to peterson and he also got wrecked
by brandeis prescott. he demand diaz meet him at 142 because he was just trying to flee the division
and wasn't ready to fight at full welter yet.
as far as khan not being hurt by collazo, i supposed khan was just practicing his break dancing
right here and got a point taken for holding because he was moving on to his walz practice.

oh, dear.
fights at 140 where Khan wasn't remotely buzzed:
Kotelnik
Malignaggi*
Salita*
McCloskey*
Judah*
*he didn't limp to the final bell in these fights either.
never mind, you're batting at about .155 or something, not too bad by your standards.

Not such a bad fight to be made.
I certainly didn't see it coming, but there are much worse matchups.
And if Canelo headhunts, looking for the one shot KO to land all night, as people will expect him to land that shot, he could have a much tougher time than expected..
In my opinion, Amir's chin, or lack thereof, could be a boon to him in a fight like this where the bigger, stronger, large favorite to win fighter expects to land one punch and looks for only that, until it's too late.
Khan deserves no hate for taking this fight. Canelo, maybe so. But I can't personally hate on either guy over this.
This will be the first fight where I pull for an Amir win, most likely. Nothing quite like seeing an applecart get flipped over.

Amir Khan an improved fighter. He impressed me against Luis Callazo. But...he has that "psychotic" boxer/combat background to DEAL with! How does he escape his past against a heavier fighter who is as consistent as Canelo?
Also: don't get too bent because they fight at 155! What would the governing groups "step in" about? It is OUT OF THEIR HANDS! The title is 160lbs. That means UNDER 160! Their isn't anything for the groups to do! It's the fighters call completely! Why is it even any issue?
I can't understand the complaining about this fight. For years, we've been complaining about how the WW division is jacked with talent but no one wants to fight each other. If you forget about the MW belt for a second. This fight marks the 3rd fight scheduled between top Welterweights so far this year. Canelo/Khan, Thurman/Porter and Manny/Bradley. THIS is what we've been clamoring for so to complain about Mega Fight like this makes zero sense to me. If Canelo demolishes him, so what? It's still going get us closer to determining who the best fighter is 147-155.
It's hilarious. You'd rather see Gabe "my eyes bleed when i yawn" Rosado get beat up and stopped in 3 rounds instead of a boxer like Khan with fantastic speed and technique? Crazy. Just crazy.

Science? Their probably are some things you can READ!
I used to box 139lbs. when I was in the Army/ & in Europe. Wound up moving to 147 and was forced to 156. These are "old school" amateur weight distinctions ["nutty idea" to change system Team USA hasn't ever Recovered!]. I'm yet to this day "naturally 147" [BoxRec John Wilkinson 1-12-0, '88-'92]. I could tell you something about losing WEIGHT, too! A lot of boxers do this. I always could make the weight..the problems came when the Tournaments required a daily WEIGHING IN. The '77 USAREUR was my first encounter with that rule.
Imagine you lack nutrition. It will bring your WHOLE SYSTEM DOWN.

This is quite a bizarre fight to make. Khan has the speed and movement to make Canelo look slow and silly for long periods but as soon as Canelo lands with his full 175lbs behind a punch it is over.
I don't really care as I can't think of any Canelo fight I would be interested in other than GGG but this makes me suspect he will dodge that.
He could have taken this an opportunity to fight a mediocre MW or even LMW but he has decided to fight another WW. Those aren't the actions of a fighter preparing for his first MW opponent.

I can see your reasoning but....AA) who's idea this? Who's The Scientist/ who invented? May of been on Amir Khan side! &, Neutral: vs Gennady WOULD BE FAR BETTER.

Mr. Literal just sitting back seeing if someone slips up. Obviously not EVERY fight, but most of the big ones. His fight with Maidana was a typical Khan fight. Shoeshines his way to an early lead and limps to the finish line.
And don't try to pretend that you know how to calculate a percentage. That's like asking a monkey to do your taxes. Stick with policing the message boards bud.

Typical of you to ridicule someone with the audacity to point out that you are once again talking out your ass.
Your claim was specific, not a generalization (although it is clear that you may not know the difference).
Kahn had 19 fights at LWW. He did not get buzzed in anywhere remotely close to every single one of those fights. He did not limp to the bell in anywhere close to every single one of those fights.
Kahn didn't limp to the bell in every single one of his big fights at 140. In fact, he didn't limp to the bell in a majority of his big fights at 140.
Your claim is 100% incorrect.

Best business move that both teams could have made. No other option for either fighter makes better sense.
This fight will generate huge $$ worldwide.
I would rather have seen GingerHead in with a legit MW but I respect the business decision. One of the most important effects it is having is that the GingerHead hater base is being increased significantly.
