the battle of the Boyne had a huge influence of the development of the country. If it hadn't have been won the country would have taken a completely different course of events- that's worth celebrating.

Do you also object to those who march in bannockburn to celebrate the anniversary of that battle?

As far as I can ascertain, there was a re-enactment in 2014 to commemorate the 700th anniversary but there are no "Battle of Bannockburn march"

But if there were, they'd be in Bannockburn, Scotland, to celebrate a military victory which happened in Bannockburn and played a huge role in the history of Scotland.
However your marches (and I'm now in very little doubt they are your marches, your true colours are shining through) celebrate a battle between an English King and a Dutch prince which happened in Ireland and now people from Larkhall decide they need to dress up in funny costumes and march through the streets for weeks on end trying to antagonise an inconvenience as many people as possible.
In fact you often choose a largely catholic area to march through, to really get the best reaction. It'd be like your mythical Bannockburn marchers going to York for a jolly

There are predominantly catholic and protestant areas in Scotland, it's not up for debate, it's a known fact, you know this, you referred to yourself as coming from an "Orange town" ffs, your words.
I will correct myself in as far as this type of incident is really more of an issue in N Ireland itself and was quite a high profile news issue only a couple years back

Its funny but ive never heard anyone bang on about their English or Welsh heritage but having an Irish ancestor from hundreds of years ago, Scots love to bang on about that

If I was Irish and was brought up with the Troubles, I think I would cringe seeing a load of Scots who weren't even born then coming over and waving flags about and singing the songs etc

Two points about sectarianism in Scotland.

1 The largest 'protest' march in Scotland every year is the 12th of July celebrations in Glasgow.

2 Why is there so many Roman Catholic schools in Scotland many of which are right next door to state schools. Double the cost I'd suggest.

To suggest that this whole issue is an irrelevance is simply not true. It doesn't matter if anyone thinks its a nonsense in this day in age the fact is - its there!!

And on the football issue why do 60,000 Celtic fans and 50,000 Rangers fans travel dozens of miles to watch teams in Glasgow. Why have Celtic always flown the Irish tricolour above the stand and why does the home dressing room at Ibrox have a photo of the Queen on the wall?

You're quite right to try to have this removed from a boxing forum. The bitterness is there and will never be removed in our lifetime. People on the outside simply to not understand the depth of feeling on both sides ,its not like a political debate where people agree to disagree, its much more violent than that.
