Mikey would have thrown less, landed more, took less punishment, and legitimately ktfo Marriaga earlier.
I strongly doubt that he would land more. He would land harder though.

... and I am not sure if he would be landing on Loma. Once again, Vasyl would fight him differently.
You may be right about number of shots landed, but Mikey would land at a far higher %, imo. Nothing against Lomassiah, btw, he was never threatened and he won by stoppage.

I just think that Mikey would take him at 135 if it happens within 12 months. Others disagree. It is all conjecture unless they actually fight.

My opinion is based on each fighter's most recent activity. I think that Mikey has looked better against superior competition, in their last two fights.

They have different styles. Loma throws a lot of tapping shots that are meant to create openings rather than score. Overall, he's a very accurate puncher. His offense is also heavy on counters, and Marriaga was giving him very little to work with.

If you want a comparison with Garcia fighting a similar opponent, look at Mikey's fight with Burgos, who was highly defensive after rocking Mikey in the first. You'll see that Mikey doesn't really land many big shots and that his connect rate is lower than normal. Even against inferior opposition, it can be hard to produce really high connect numbers if the opponent is just focusing on survival.

What is your problem? Call it anything you want: leather, damage, punches, whatever. He got marked up. No, he was never in trouble but he took more facial damage than most expected, I suspect.

I actually like Lomassiah but he has not been as impressive as Mikey in their last two fights and he has faced considerably inferior opposition.

Loma's just a guy who marks up. It's happened to him in other fights too, and look at the video Boxing Writer posted of Vitali after barely getting touched by Kevin Johnson....

I don't think a little bruising really says much about how Loma performed overall or how he'd fare against other opponents, and the repeated use of 'punishment' paints a misleading picture. This was a nothing fight against an overmatched opponent, and Loma was playing around in there. He's looked far more serious against dangerous opposition, and I expect that to be the case in the future.

I agree that Mikey likely beats him (very good bigger man vs very good smaller man), though not in dominating, stoppage fashion.

Yeah. Atlas was previously being Haymon's spokesperson during the time buy period. He literally trashed GGG and in the same ogre breath highly praised Quillin. Wish I could pull up a quote, because it was a doozy.

IMO Lomachenko is the best pure boxer in the sport. But I do think his ceiling is 135. The dude is 5'6 with narrow shoulders. If he tries pushing it to 140 against beasts Iike Mikey and Crawford he probably gets beat. Crawford is definitely too big for him. Garcia is a 50-50 fight.

I'm already tired of Loma's act and the chorus of ass kissing from media dorks like that whole ESPN crew last night. "Did you see how Loma just scratched his ass? That's genius. No ones ever scratched their ass like that before". Give me a break. The guy is 9-1!!!! Has there ever been a bigger cheering section for a guy with a record like that ? It's like the loss to Salido never happened. Joke.

Then the classless way Loma has treated his last 2 outmatched opponents was ridiculous. The patting on the head is classless and here's he doing it against a mediocre fighter last night who jumped up in weight to give Loma a fight. That's BS. How come he didn't do that shiit to Salido? Oh because he would have gotten an elbow to the nose and he was getting his ass beat up. He's a pusssy with no power who can punch tennis balls on a string from his hat. Big deal. Can't wait to see this kid eat leather from a real fighter his size or bigger. It will happen. Not impressed.

Salido would still be a handful for him because Salido don't give a sh*t, and isn't gonna fight scared. I think he'd lose a rematch to Loma, but it'd be another difficult and uncomfortable night for Lomachenko because Salido brings it.

Not impressed? Were you impressed by Salido purposely blowing weight by like 5 lbs and coming into the ring looking like a middleweight and proceeding to low blow and elbow Loma all around the ring? Was that impressive? You can't wait to see Loma eat leather from a real fighter "his size"? The dude is f*cking 5'6. Salido just turned down $750,000 to fight him again with making weight clauses in the contract. Surprise surprise.

He's beating the crap out of guys HIS SIZE and you act like he's fighting midgets. Gary Russell Jr is a pretty god damn good fighter. Nicholas Walters as well. He's fighting the best people at his weight that will actually get in the ring with him.

..I'm not quite sure why would anyone be so butthurt about Loma's successes in the ring...I bet there are not that many boxers if AT ALL who had/have the same level of opposition in the first 10 fights in paid ranks...respect, and I hope he'll continue his very successful professional career...

PS: do I personally like his showboating in the ring? No..I guess that's his idea of winning over local fans...

Excuses...excuses...so tired of hearing about all the reasons why Loma couldn't defeat Salad and why the win shouldn't count. Don't you realize how lame you Loma Blowboys sound like when you make excuses like this? HE LOST...plain and simple. He's a freaking 9-1 fighter...fact. Terrance Crawford would finish him inside 12 if they met at catchweight.

Lomachenko lost to Salido in a close contest. There are always arguments and excuses why, but you have to give Salido some credit. Yes, he was 2 and 1/4lbs over at the scale, and 11lbs heavier fight night. It seems the #1 excuse why Loma lost was the weight difference. If weight was the main issue vs Salido, it will be a major, major, problem if he fights Mikey Garcia. Garcia will come in heavier than Salido, and is more skilled.

I said at the time and still think it was foolish of TR to put Lomo in a championship fight in his second pro fight. Talk about someone not deserving of a title shot (or ready) wow. Lomo is technically near the top in the pro ranks, but amateurs and pros are a whole different ball game. I think Crawford has beaten down two former Olympic Champions now. (Gamboa and Diaz?)
